WARNING 🚨 Check Your Liner Lock Knives!

- A little PSA/Warning to check the lock up on your liner lock knives. I've had this issue with a few Kizer knives and now with this Civivi Elementum. Although this seems to be a rare issue, it's still a dangerous issue if not noticed early enough (before putting the knife to hard use). Let the knife community knife if you also experienced this issue, and with what knives.
I purchased this knife through Knife Center, and although I noticed this liner lock issue soon after unboxing (and I have a live video of myself unboxing it), Knife Center still said it was too late since I had this new for over the 60 day return window. So be sure to check your liner lock knives (or any knife for that matter) shortly after receiving them incase there is an issue. Don't be like me and wait 6 months to finally unbox certain knives lol

Exceptions can always be made. In this case, because it has to do with safety, I think knife center should take it back. You have proof that you just opened it. I wonder if Blade HQ would have made an exception? 🤷♂️
Folding knives easily have over 30 potential problems fixed blades will never have
You miss wrote 100 potential problems, but we know what you meant.
I have this issue with my large Cold Steel Luzon which actually closed on me, luckily it wasn't too bad considering how freaking big the blade is lol
My Dewalt folder' Liner perfectly comes to centre of the blade
I've almost lost fingers to liner Lock and Axis lock. NEVER again.
DUUUUUDE!! That Elementum is HORRIBLE!! That’s surprising man, I’ve never had an issue with a Civivi! Hopefully a “one off” issue
Same with frame Locks. Thanks.
Excellent "public service announcement". Cheers!!
If Civivi doesn't make it right, that should be a fairly easy fix on a stone.
I've had a few early lockups but never bad enough that I could actually close the knife like that.
How could I fix it?
For early lockup, try bending the lock bar in slightly. If that doesn't work you could grind off a tiiiiiiny ( and I mean tiiiiiiiiiiiiny ) amount of the lock bar patch that interfaces with the tang of the blade.
@@PoetFisherman I will try this, tanks for the quick response too!
@CentroidYT keep in mind this will likely kill your warranty. If you're going to do it though, definitely try bending it first
@@PoetFisherman Ok your right, ill see what i can do first
Thanks for the info on this type of knife .
I have that same issue with the exact same model-the dark brown Matrix micarta.
Yeah, that's either a defect or a bad reassembly.
On my Buck Kingsman its the exact opposite. It catches late, halfway off the blade. Is there a fix?
Since Knife Center said no…if there is no resolution from Civivi are you going to try to fix it?
Had the same issue on a 15$ Herbertz knife and it just suddenly fixed itself
Get the sandpaper out
Mine is the opposite, it’s over too far and really hard to close it
Much better than the other way around
Try scratching a lead pencil on the blade where the lock bar connects
Send it back send it back that's scary
Nope mine sucks too. Easy to break the lock, pretty unsafe knife. Can't return them, both going up for sale on eBay. I need a reliable and safe knife.
Both elementum and the odium both have the same issue. A moderate hit on the spine and lock on both knives give way. I had it happen accidentally when dropping the open knife.
Easy fix but that shouldn't be happening qc is off .
How would it be fixed i have a similar problem not as bad but want to know
@@CentroidYT Im sure you could just pull it apart and stick something in between the gap of the liner overnight to stretch it out... or just bend it... But you shouldnt have to... its unacceptable from such a big company...
