    Amazing horse. There is absolutely no cruelty here. Well trained horse and a very good rider! Believe me, if this horse did not want to do this, it wouldn't. Good fun! My horse rides to the sound of bagpipes and if he doesn't like a rider they are soon off his back!

      Dave Desmond Actually plenty of horses do things they don't want to do to fear. They get riders they don't like and perform things that are even painful. While I don't think this rider is cruel I certainly hate it when people ignorantly say horses never do anything they don't want to do. It's a ridiculous lie that has been proven obviously false.

      Mei-Xing Pen You have not read my comment in context. I have made comments about the video not about other horse trainers. I also do not appreciate being referred to as ignorant. I own two beautiful, gentle horses and I never MAKE them do anything through fear. All I do is ask and they try their best for me. There are people out there who consider themselves to be horse trainers and they are nothing but idiots who muck about with a horse's brain. I have total respect for these animals and no respect for idiots.

      Mei-Xing Pen Trainers who train through fear and abuse- at least in the performance aspect usually don't last very long I had plenty of horse come to me from owners and trainers to get the horses "brains put back in" because of some of the forced abusive training they used, and halter (lead and feed trainers tend to be the worse abusers not the performance horse trainers because at some point the horse will "break" flip out run off just become so uncooperative at the most inconvenient time that will show others that the trainer does have a problem. This horse executes excellent spin and flying lead changes all in a relaxed manner. look at the ears head posture and neck tension to see how stressed a horse is. a gaping moth and tail position (especially in Arabs is a great indicator to)
      Mei How may horses have you trained in your life? How many different breeds? how many disciplines? are you a licensed judge. Don't judge unless you have actually been in the business. I HAVE been there as a trainer of Appys, Quarter horses, BLM mustangs, Thoroughbreds, Standardbreds, Saddlebreds (even 5 gaited) Tennessee Walkers, Morgans but my favorite was Arabians and bred showed raced, trained and was a licensed Arabian judge for years until I was hit by a truck while horseback riding and nearly killed- my imported mare was killed. Read or see the "The Horse Whisperer"? that is basically my life as rider mother victim and a trainer.
      I became a judge because of what I heard as constant complaints of politics and abuse in the show ring to find out the truth and try to do something to fix the system. if you don't like what is going on in an industry like this get INVOLVED and help fix it. I did a hell of a lot prior to my accident and a bit even after with the info I gathered. Don't bitch and complain do something that enacts change within organizations if you don't like what yo see. and yes there was a lot of politics- it was the reason the Judges commissioners office was created unfortunately the first one to hold the job had the ethics of snail turds, but he had to migrate from that job... :-) to FE

  • @Arielebryant

    This horse is NOT abused. You see when the man stands up and almost falls and the saddle slides? That horse did not move once. He trusts his rider. You see when the man is bouncin around in the saddle? His horse is still listening to him and still doing as told. If this horse didnt want to do it, he wouldnt have. That horse could have easily taken off when the saddle started to slide but didnt. This horse is talented enough and trained well enough to ignore all the lights, the music, the crazy rider, and the crowed. i doubt abuse has anything to do with it.

    To the people below my comments box. All tack can be damaging, even the simplest bitless bridle in the wrong hands. English tack is not designed to keep the mouth closed, and when correctly fitted, aids to distribute pressure in the head. Not to mention, advanced english riding requires little use of the bridle, except by means of refining an aid in advanced disciplines. You cannot tar a whole genre of riding, just because you may have seen a few bad eggs. All forms of riding disciplines have their positives and negatives, but I will happily defend mine if it helps clarify any misunderstandings. I have a cob who I share a terrific relationship with; I have had him 13 years and he has done anything and everything. Needless to say, I am an English style rider. When he is properly worked, his back carries his weight so he can perform to his fullest in schooling, the aim with advanced english riding/ dressage depending on how far you take it and not your general happy hackers, is to get the horse to carry his weight, so that they do not develop a 'U' shape in their outline, which can cause more damage than getting them to engage their topline. Horses are encouraged to flex laterally as well to increase suppleness. It is not something that can be achieved in a night, like body builders, it takes time, patience and correct riding to get to that goal. Western is completely different all together in that the saddle is fitted less tightly (I guess is a way of putting it) allowing more free flow as it helped cattle driving and all that jazz in the past. It is again a completely different discipline. The aim for western is completely different from english. So this whole war between english vs western is irrelevant. English and jumping is a different discipline. There are different saddle types to accommodate different horses, simply because they are in a different discipline and it benefits those disciplines for their individual reasons. I can ride my horse, bare back in a field, holding onto a lock of mane if I wanted to. It's all about what you do, not what gadgets you use and don't use. They all fit their intended purpose. So stop this war!

      ***** Try a regional champion hunter, 3rf leve dressage mare multi regional halter champion that is also 6 times National top Ten western pleasure and multi champion reining horse-- Arab mare being collected, engaged, bending, flexing , supple, doing lateral movements isn't just for English, or Dressage- ll forms benefit from it and the great western trainers KNOW this and teach this to their horses- you see it in the top trainers winners at least in the Arabian and Morgan breeds Western pleasure Quarter horses & Paints tend to be all strung out and as a result their back and legs go to crap at younger ages so they aren't showing at 25+ years old when you still see Arabs showing and even winning at nationals.

    • @catherineaverillartwork
      @catherineaverillartwork 9 лет назад +1

      I cannot remember what my argument was, but I certainly agree with what you are saying and support all disciplines. I think I was defending dressage, when others were perhaps targeting it? I am not sure as my comment is nearly a year old ; )

      "English tack is not designed to keep the mouth closed" (that's what you said)........and yes you are referencing dressage? Well what is the function of a caveson, or a crank noseband, or a figure 8? I ride dressage as well, and I love it. But really either you are clueless as to the function these pieces of tack serve or you are just in la la land. ALL of the pieces of tack I just named are staples of dressage and are seen in the lowest to highest levels of competition.

    • @catherineaverillartwork
      @catherineaverillartwork 9 лет назад +2

      +abby killienih thanks for the message, but I think you misunderstood my comment. I am talking as a whole, that tack in dressage is not what it is perceived as, whilst some people may use those for whatever reason, whether they understand their use or not, you are completely right. I'm just saying that from an English riders vantage point, I don't clamp my horse's mouth shut with a grackle, I don't have thick bits with lozenges that keep the tongue from fighting the bit. to anyone who has witnessed overly tacked up dressage horses, I ask them not to judge a discipline by those who over tack their horses. Though I do like being in lala land.

    • @Mokiefraggle
      @Mokiefraggle 3 года назад

      @@janmeyer3129 Different ear posture. A horse about to bite is *pinning* its ears back, tight and flat to the head. A dog with pricked ears or cat will do the same, flattening the ears back against the skull, probably as a means of protecting them if they are anticipating a return bite. A horse like this one, who is relaxed and paying attention both to its rider and its surroundings, will tip their ears back so that the ear is more facing toward the thing its paying attention to, with the ears relaxed and even sometimes drooping a little.

    • @cranecatcher9997
      @cranecatcher9997 7 лет назад +2

      It can't cause a sway back, a sway back is caused by genetics and not through riding. Please don't spread misinformation.

      crane catcher A sway back is caused by genetics or the muscle being stressed to much that it "give out"
      Mares that are bred to much get it, horses that don't have their saddles places properly can get it, and horses with riders that bounce to harshly can get it.
      I have done my research, thank you very much.

      The bridle isnt abusing its just how hard the rider pulls on their reins and how big the bit is but these horses are so trained that the rider doesn't need to use their reins that much

    • @Mokiefraggle
      @Mokiefraggle 3 года назад

      A properly fitted bridle with an appropriate bit for the horse is far from cruel, particularly if the rider isn't cranking back on the reins. It doesn't matter whether it's an English-style or Western-style bridle, so long as it's neither too loose (leaving the bit to clank against the horse's front teeth), or too tight (pulling at and pinching the corners of the horse's mouth), if the bit's right, then you don't have to do much to make the horse respond. Each horse is different, and therefore each horse requires a different bit, or sometimes none at all. I've ridden horses that had such a "soft" mouth that they needed a snaffle or even a bitless hackamore, and others who took a curb bit that provided more leverage, which in turn means you actually pull *less* to get the same response. It's all in how the *rider* handles it, not in the bridle itself.
      Also, if you watch, this guy is barely using the reins except for turning the horse's head slightly when they're getting ready to do the spins. On the sliding stops, it's very clear that he's applying very little pressure with the reins, and is doing the lion's share of the cue via his seat and weight. You can see him actively sink himself down, slacking his body down into his pelvis and bringing his shoulders back, which is just as common a cue for a horse to come to a stop as pulling the reins, when he does them, while his reining hand actually stays low and forward along the horse's neck, giving it plenty of slack.

    Reining ist für ein Westernpferd ja normal und es hatte auch genug Schutz an den Beinen. Ich finde es allerdings sehr bedenkenswert in den Sattel zu springen. Das kann Schäden verursachen und tut dem Pferd weh. Wer mir das nicht glauben will kann sich ja selbst mal auf alle Viere stellen und einen Freund oder so auf seinen Rücken springen lassen... Ist eher unschön. Außerdem sitzt der Typ ziemlich schief im Sattel...

    don't really understand what all the fuss is about... hes sitting.. IN a saddle.. riding in circles... if you are an avid horse rider that is NOT hard... take the saddle off, lose the bridal, and do some sort of dressage with the horse... and then it would be worth watching

    That spurs😰

    • @Mokiefraggle
      @Mokiefraggle 3 года назад

      Little late here (curse the algorithm :P), but looking at it, those spurs aren't much. The rowel on them looks to be the common blunt-tipped sort, and spurs are frequently used in reining to make it easier to hide/keep subtle the signals the rider is giving the horse with their legs. IIRC, that's often a factor in the judging: can the judges see you cueing the horse blatantly, or does it look like they go through the routine without the rider needing to make big, clear signals. Spurs aren't meant to cause harm, they just help to get the message across when used properly. I mean, the student stable I learned to ride at had kids as young as five learning how to use spurs, because even on the smaller horses, these kids were so tiny that their little legs weren't able to exert enough force to easily cue the horses to switch gaits, and not a one of the horses ever showed distress at this. I even had a pair of spurs just like these, and I pulled them off of the boots by wrapping my hand around the rowel and gripping, with no harm ever done to my soft skin, let alone to the sturdier hide of a horse.

The routine looked like it was hastily thrown together at the last moment. Dude needs to take more riding lessons or something because when I can see repeated spur jabbing, the rider is doing something wrong.

    • @Mokiefraggle
      @Mokiefraggle 3 года назад

      He's performing reining, actually. It's a type of Western-style competitive riding that focuses on things like the high-speed spins he was performing, the flying change figure-8s (a horse at a lope/canter or gallop leads with the leg to the inside of the arc when moving in a circle, and must therefore switch leading legs "on the fly" or in mid-stride when going into the second circle of the figure-8), sliding stops and backing up, side-passing (the parts where the horse sidestepped, crossing its legs across one-another), and other such controlled movements. In competition, such as here, you're further usually judged on how little you signal the horse, whether with reins, legs, or seat, and how smoothly the horse makes its changes or how fast it can shift between different skills on display.
