    Spot on review. I own and fish just about every rod in the XX line and they are fantastic rods. This rod and the Diablo SPEC-R and two of my absolute favorites.

      I’m looking at picking up a Perfect Pitch and either D Spec R or EMTF. Which of the later too would you prefer, and what techniques would you use?
      What do you use the Perfect Pitch for mostly? Thanks in advance!

      @@Kirko_bangz not much it wont do to be honest. I use mine the most for jigs and texas rigged plastics, but I have thrown swimbaits, spinnerbaits, and frogs on it as well. It’s honestly my favorite rod in the XX line up.

    loved the review always! perfect pitch is one of my favorite rod, I take it with me all the time, I've tried weightless senko to magdraft 6", this rod can handle anything imo, i also throw megabass vatalion, i just wish if its just little lighter. but its so well blanced you forget about weight of the rod soon as you grab it xD

    • @PunchFishing
      @PunchFishing  4 года назад +2

      I didn't even touch on the weight, it's heavy on paper but it's balanced beautifully.

  • @simplecircuit
    @simplecircuit 4 года назад +2

    I use mine paired with an old Daiwa Zillion Crazy Cranker to throw the 6" mag drafts, but have also thrown swim jigs on it with a 6.3 Steez reel and love it. I do feel like the heavier zillion reel balances a little bit better, but either way, the rod balances nicely. I'd like to try it for s-waver 168's, but think they might be a little too heavy. Either way, it's a great rod that can fill a ton of roles If you need it to. I'm definitely going to try it for a Carolina rig after your suggestion.

    • @gaterb11

      S Wavers can be thrown on the PP with a nice smooth lob or sidearm roll cast. The nice tip also does well keeping fish pegged on the trebles!

    Brian, your videos have been so helpful, and spot on, as I've expanded my rod collection over the past several years. I'm wanting to pickup a new Perfect Pitch, primarily for the 6" Magdraft, and similarly weighted (1.25 oz.) swimbaits. I'm aware of Chris Zaldain's use of it, but hey he is selling Megabass. My concerns are 2-fold. There has been more than a few complaints about these rods breaking, apparently without provocation. And just as importantly the high-end recommended weight range of 1.25 oz. is a match to the weight of the 6" Magdraft, so although you may not have thrown anything totaling 1.25 oz. with this rod, do you think that this rod can stand up to that much casting weight?

    Are you ever going to switch to Diawa or shimano casting reels? I have felt in a store the lews highest end Pro Ti baiting casting reel and was not very impressed by the reel. Shimano and Diawa is just way smoother and much better tolerances. Yeah I understand you like the lews because you can service then, but you could always try to get good at servicing Shimano’s or Diawa reels.

    • @PunchFishing
      @PunchFishing  4 года назад

      I have a bunch of Shimano and Daiwa casting reels currently. Got a couple of the new SVs, a met, an aldebaran, and some curado Ks. I've had a TON of Dawais and Shimano casting reels over the years. I'm always trying rods and reels. To me, feeling a reel in the store isn't a great barometer for quality. I've been pounding the crap out of Pro Tis since they came out and they gave been awesome. For the record I don't use any Lew's spinning reels, they are not very good.

    • @grandfishing590
      @grandfishing590 4 года назад

      PunchFishing yeah, lews spinning reels are bad. Then again they don’t even have a spinning reel above $140 last time I checked. I don’t really like doyo reels in general so I just stick with Shimano and Diawa.

      Dean Gruwell There was some issues with the blank material, so they decided to pull form the market. It was planned to be re-released this year, but covid 19 happened so that is further delayed. Also the supply chains is reason why Megabass Orichi xx and destroyers are running out of stock. Should be back near November or winter due the covid issues.

    • @jordanp5163
      @jordanp5163 4 года назад

      They had serious breakage issues and that’s why they pulled them off the market. See my post above - Megabass quality has gone down the past few years. They have even had lots of breakage reports on the destroyers as well. All across their lineups there is too many breaks IMO.

    It’s sad to say but Megabass quality has gone way down lately. The gen2 orochi xx rods are simply not as nice (or near as sensitive) as the gen1. I have sold the couple gen2’s I had as they were mediocre. Also to note is the shark tooth trigger point. I know myself and many others that find that sharp trigger to be a weapon depending how you hold the rod. - I can’t understand why they did this and not stick with the tried and proven Fuji ecs. I have also had several quality issues and a couple breaks on my destroyer USA rods. I take care of my gear and I’m not that guy who busts rods - ever. But this season alone I have busted 2 destroyers. Megabass simply isn’t the same as they used to be. It’s all cheap over hyped made in China crap now.
