    Well there certainly is a lot to see in Swanage! That is a beautiful walk along the sea and it looks like a perfect day for it. 👌👍 ~ Kristine

      Tx Kristine. Yes it was a lovely sunny November day, not too cold either. I grew up there, so it was nice to go back. I'll do anothervid there next Summer, when it will be busier :) Woof to Xander, says Edith :)

      Hi Judy, thanks for watching my vids, I really appreciate that. I was born and grew up in Swanage but I haven't lived there for about 35 years. Lovely to go back there. Nice place for a 'staycation', especially in the Summer/Autumn outside of school holidays. best wishes, Rob

    Great walk and very interesting narration 👍 I really agree with you on the potential of wave power 👍😊

    • @TheCountryTraveller
      @TheCountryTraveller  4 года назад +1

      Tx for watching SND. Yes, I don't really know why wave (and tidal) power hasn't developed more than it has. I know that the sea is a very hostile environment, but it is constant, unlike sun and wind. We will see how it develops!

    A wonderful last part about the Swanage and its surroundings. Your commentary is swarming with fascinating historical facts and I enjoyed every second of the video. The Great Globe impressed me the most. I wonder what motivated them to build such an impressive monument which brings no profit. It is of course valuable heritage for the the successor generations.
    If you start your timestamps with 0:00 RUclips will automatically split your video up into chapters. I don't know if that was what you were trying to achieve. It took me a while to get it right by myself.

    • @TheCountryTraveller
      @TheCountryTraveller  4 года назад +1

      Tx for your great response, much appreciated. I think that George Burt, who owned the land and built the castle and the globe, thought that he was developing a tourist area. This was also the time of the British (and German) empires so I suspect that played a part too.
      Thanks for your tip about the chapters. I've tried that in this video and it doesn't work :( I noticed the different sections in your vid when I watched it. I will keep trying.
      I really put the times in to help search - if someone is searching for something that we have set as a 'time' in the vid, it should come up in the search results (probably about page 75 though :) )

      @@TheCountryTraveller Yes, that makes sense.
      I can see chapters in your video now and I like how structured the video has become.

      @@TotoTVWorld Yes, thanks. I think it must have taken a few minutes to adjust. Tx very much for the tip!

    At the very end you briefly shows a picture of a plaque in memory of Edgar Evans, but I can not remember you talking about him in part 1 or 2? As a Polar history buff (buff in the sense of being interested and not as being the clothing accessory:) I would love to hear more about his connection to Swanage. I know his goal in joining Scott was to get enough money so he could retire from the Navy and buy a pub; but would he have settled in Swanage if he had survived? Anyway, another nice walk you have done. Good thing that you added the picture of the globe from the early days - it is hard to grasp the size when you do not have anything to compare it with!

      Tx ANT. The reference is is in Episode 1 ruclips.net/video/907potstCOU/видео.html

      I don't know if he would have settled in Swanage but I will ask someone in the History Society, who might know.
      Very good point about scale, a lesson for me there. I should have taken a photo of myself (or somebody) standing in front of the Globe. It is quite spectacular close up and must have looked even better when it was new.

      @@TheCountryTraveller That is a lesson for me in paying more attention to everything you say:) I missed that part first time around - and that was about one of my favourite subjects (I have read Scott's diary many times and the end always gets me). So sorry about that!

      @@ArcticNatureExperiences I've spoken to my friend about Taffy Evans. He can't access the records in the Historical Society because the Society is closed due to covid - all of the people that run it are volunteers and they are all retired, so in the vulnerable group. Most of their records are on paper. Hopefully it will reopen next year and we can follow it up then. Not sure if they will have any more info though. Sorry not to be more helpful :)

      @ArcticNatureExperiences 4 года назад +1

      @@TheCountryTraveller I think you have done a lot for the memory of Evans - so thank you very much. It is the year of COVID and there is not much to do about that! Cheers
