    There is no real space race today. It is no longer USA vs USSR in 1960s. But there is a great work by many countries in exploration of the Solar System, with probes going to all planets, samples returned from asteroids, giant telescopes observing universe, etc.
    China is certainly making an amazing progress. In some facets they are already leaders. In other areas they still lack experience which NASA laboratories accumulated in half a century of building things. They are also still aspiring to replicate the rapid and bold innovation of SpaceX. But China has vast resources, strong government management, and a vibrant industrial ecosystem with many space startup companies. We should expect great things from them. It will not be at all surprising it they will be the first to bring samples from Mars, and to establish the first base on the Moon.

      @zaireneil902 3 месяца назад +1

      You're right. The experience and data accumulated over 200 years of industrial history in Europe are very valuable. The flaw of Chinese scientists lies here. So this also stimulates Chinese scientists to strive to explore science and increase their knowledge reserves for emerging technologies.

    Haha, Chang’e is a strange way to spell the name. It doesn’t pronounce as “change”, it’s “tsoong-er”. In ancient Chinese folk story, her husband got a magic pill that can extend life, but she wanted stay beautiful and live forever, so she took the pill without sharing with her husband, so ended up living alone on moon with her pet rabbit Yutu (means jade color rabbit); and that’s the name of the moon rover went with Chang’e 6.

    It's funny to see so many different pronunciations for Chang'e for the westerner reporters and scientists. Let's not be so harsh to criticize, as it is indeed difficult to pronounce. At least these people are one of the few westerners who are reporting positive things about China and that is extremely rare in Western Media.
