It's sad a lot of people lost their jobs through little to no fault of their own. Once again, it's easier to fire the employees than the bosses & "decision makers" who got them into this financial downslide.

Eiger isn't pushing for quality, he's pushing to stop the financial bleeding. Disney no longer has the ability to make a film that the majority of the world wants to see. Disney is captured by very far to left and very odd and weird people who lack the ability to emphasize with the audience, they are far to left activists whose talents appeal to Pol Pot not the average working class stiff. So every movie that Pixar put out has a higher than average likelihood of being a financial bomb draining Disney faster than Disney thinks it can change enough children's minds to like the moral degeneracy that Disney releases today. Disney is failing, parent are very aware of Disney and are not allowing Disney into their homes without gatekeeping. Disney will run out of money before it can create a generation of perverts who want to watch their garbage. It's almost as if Eiger is doing everything he can to make America dysfunctional to help Russia and China in the inevitable upcoming kinetic war between us and them. When we do get into a war, I hope Eiger gets investigated as a Chinese agent.

it baffles me that the lightyear movie didnt even bother to borrow from the tv series that has the most opportunity for expansion within it and probably would have been well received by fans . instead they chose a weird interstellar esk story that entirely missed the point of what buzz was parodying to begin with. he is stand in for corny space movies and to a lesser degree starwars itself. im not saying the series was perfect , but i cant even find Star Command on disney plus . no idea if its region locked or fully absent but youd think if your gonna market lightyear as "the film andy saw as a kid "
Youd want to either lean a lot into the 90s vibe or parody a space franchise that has a bit less seriousness to it .
at its core if pixar is linking this to andys memories they had to have known that the majority of people who would have saw it are 90s/ 2000s kids who grew up watching cheesy comedy's . i cant see that they wouldnt have known that .
it almost feels like they wanted to make lightyear a whole new franchise but had to tag toy story ip onto it to feel confident enough to release it at all or justify making it.
Cuz even if they didnt make Star Command there are overlaps in staff, someone would have said something surely.
Throughout the studios history even during Walt's life Disney has had it's ups and downs and right now Disney is having another Downtime like they did in the 80s and 2000s. I hope one day they return to the wholesome clean family friendly entertainment company Walt envisioned it to be.

Secret plot for Toy Story 5: Woody and BoPeep are found by a clean-cut black boy and girl who live with their mom who is an astrophysicist, and dad who is the CEO of a Fortune 500 company. They live in an upper class home in a good neighborhood. The boy has a George Floyd action figure and the girl has a Princess Tiana doll. Woody falls in love with the Tiana doll and Bo Peep hooks up with Saint Floyd. They have to fight off some C.O.P.S. toys belonging to the scruffy white kid who mows the lawn and the George Floyd toy is run over with a lawnmower. All the toys in the neighborhood riot. Bo Peep is saved by a Space Jam 2 LeBron James doll and Woody apologizes for being part of "cowboys and indians". Bob Chapek makes a surprise appearance at the end as a new talking doll and gives a speech telling everyone what they learned.

It’s funny you say that the “people that made Lightyear a movie are still around at Disney” because Angus MacLane and Galyn Susman, the director and producer respectively, were both laid off last year. While I am rather indifferent to Lightyear, growing up a Toy Story obsessed kid who adored the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command cartoon, it is sad to hear that both of them leave. Both were veterans at the studio; Susman started in ‘88 and MacLane started as an animator in ‘97. They obviously aren’t blameless in the case of Lightyear given them being at the top of that film’s production, but given their previous track record at Pixar and the immense collaboration that goes on with each of those productions, I wouldn’t be surprised if Lightyear turned out the way it did due to too many cooks in the storyroom and possible mandates by the higher ups at Disney.
The other thing lately is how bland most non-white male characters are lately. The writers aren't just woke; they're lazy. They think that identity = character if the character isn't a white man. This is why REEva is so boring; they expect her being a black lady to be all the characterization she needs.

I think the problem with marvel is the fact they keep pushing b list superheros that knowbody wants. If the character cant hold it's own comic book run then it doesnt deserve a movie. That's the reason these characters are side kicks not main characters.

I literally grew up with the Star Wars prequels. Immediately upon becoming old enough to watch the movies myself I soon realized what I had lost. The Force Awakens, while being somewhat OK, ended up ruining the rest of the franchise for good. Star Wars can never rebuild from that. It will literally take a half a century for the population to forget about Disneys destruction of Star Wars and give enough space for a reboot. If you dont believe me just look at all the 70's and 80's movies being reboot in modern times. Yeah, it really does take THAT long. If Star Wars were to quit now, we would have to wait until 2070 - 2100 for a reboot. Im not going to live that long. In 2100 I would have to live until 96 as I am 20 now, and I dont think I have the genetics for that. So all of us alive today will never see Star Wars fixed, unless Disney sells the rights to a studio that cares, and sadly they never will and the studios that care dont have the money. Just stop paying for it and let Star Wars die in peace. As a life long fan thats all I ask.

I used to cry but now I laugh. Walt and Roy’s company is almost entirely gone with only remnants left. Those remnants will have to revive it or else it’s over. It remains to be seen but it’s not looking good.

I was interested in TOY STORY but really only because it was the *first* full CGI movie.
Sure, some PIXAR movies were fun. But none of them felt like a *for me* movie. Only *BRAVE* really felt good; they tried to give the main character realistic hair. Sadly the rest, all movies since, didn't even try to do hair well (fur is a different matter).
Does that matter? YES, because LEGO puppet hair sucks. It is distracting and looks cheap and lazy. WISH did crazy hair on the king in a few shots; only a few shots for effect and then really badly.
Pixar films just all feel lazy. Too many 'this was popular enough; sequel now' films that had zero redeeming qualities.
Pixar ... became what Disney turns EVERY brand it owns into; soulless lazy predictable content factories.
