Would like to go back & visit to share with my 14 year old grandson as we both love history! I only wish that I had the capability to start at the causeway & maneuver at will. Otherwise, it brightened up our day with CA wildfires nearby threatening our home.

    Thanks for your video! I really wonder what Season 8 will bring us. With the pandemic and the health crisis in Canada, I'm not holding my breath.... Any major discovery/retrieval (i.e. the 'Big dig') will take at least several years...... Here's something you might find interesting. I have attached a B/W archival photo ("see below") taken at Smith's Cove showing all the towering Canopy Oak Trees that lined the eastern shore of Oak Island adjacent to Smith's Cove. Oak Island was the ONLY island in the Mahone Bay region that had these non-indigenous Canopy Oaks and they were not spread throughout the island--- they were only found on the eastern shore facing the Atlantic. I truly believe that those Canopy Oaks were deliberately planted by ancient visitors from the Mediterranean Region/Middle East to serve as landmarks so that ships sailing in from across the Atlantic Ocean and then up the coast could find Oak Island by spotting the Canopy Oak Trees on the horizon. There was only one Canopy Oak remaining around the year 2000 and it is now gone. I hope they saved wood specimens from it so the exact tree species and its origin could be identified.

      @johnwoa 3 года назад +1

      @@officialWWM Thanks! There is actually an Oak island TV program from the late-1950's that is uploaded here on RUclips that actually points out and shows the decaying remains of the last remaining Canopy Oak Tree that was on Oak Island at the time. Looking at it from an arborist point of view, it would be very interesting to determine what the exact species of oak they were, but apparently the wood, leaves and acorns were too old/decayed to make that determination. With today's technology, I believe it could be specifically identified.

    Would agree w the one comment... It does look like a cave entrance just beside the swamp. There is an anomaly in the swamp in that corner they were focusing on this year. So i wonder if somehow connected? It's obvious the swamp is man made. It was 2 islands at one time. What astounds me, being from FL, they can dig 150-180' and NOT hit water naturally on an island. Anywhere in FL you dig a few ft down u hit water. I work on swimming pools and have to wellpoint to dry around a pool that's only 6' deep.
    So stands to logic and pirate would know he couldn't bury treasure in FL. Bahamas are all ancient coral heads.. So there's no soil to speak of. Jamaica and Cuba as well as Hispaniola were populated. Think about it... North. Very little traffic? Good conditions.
    I firmly believe there were at min 3 separate activities. At different time frames in history. Money pit being last. Swamp mid time. Earlier activity on other end. Cornish mining tools found? Cornish miners were famous hard rock miners...

      @Peter Telford Great observation! I saw a bathymetric map of a portion of the seabed/seafloor/shoreline of Oak Island that was prepared by the (Government of Canada) Geological Survey of Canada pursuant to research that was done in the 1990's and the map showed, among other things, the submerged "remnants" of an ancient shoreline and what appear to be two (2) cave/niche entrances that quite possibly lead to the cavern(s) deep beneath Oak Island. The Geological Survey stated that sea levels surrounding Oak Island are rising at the rate of 30 centimetres (12 inches) every one hundred years. Therefore, those cave/niche entrances together with the cavern(s) were most probably above the mean high water line and were high and dry back in ancient times--- the perfect hiding place for "whatever it is" that was originally placed at the bottom of the Money Pit, which I believe was a deep open sinkhole that was backfilled after the fact with dirt and the securely-fastened oak log platforms to conceal what was entombed below. Because the Oak Island treasure hunting licenses only cover as far as the shoreline at low tide, these now-submerged cave/niche entrances are never discussed on the show. Again, your 'Comment' is a great observation regarding the shoreline. Sorry so Lengthy!

    • @johnwoa
      @johnwoa 3 года назад +2

      @@JerrsAerialPhotographyVlogs If you get this message in time, try to do your filming specifically at low tide, as you will be able to see more of what is under the water's surface at low tide. The phases of the moon can sometimes cause higher or lower than usual tides! I learned this from living on the Gulf of Mexico when I was younger. Your News sources in Halifax should give the times for the tides in that Mahone Bay region. As for those cave/niche entrances I saw on the bathymetric map, I do not know what area or part of the Oak Island shoreline they were taken at. But I do know that parts of the Oak Island shoreline have a steeper drop-off than other parts. Hopefully this information will help you in what to focus in on when filming the shoreline. From my experience at sea and working with inshore and offshore nautical marine charts, I would assume that there would be a Mahone Bay chart that would give depth soundings in close proximity to Oak island. There are actually websites with this stuff and I hope Mahone Bay nautical charts are included. Again, I hope all the above information is helpful for you. --- John

    Would love to see more structured and purposeful flight path. When the camera moves arbitrarily the viewer looses a sense of what’s “going on” and the video becomes a static photo that is just being moved around. Plan your camera moves, slow them down and have them end up somewhere. Adjust height and zoom level as well.
