    Guy needs to inform the Finns of the important yardstick utility of private schools I’m sure they’d be interested to hear the nonsense from a country more than 20 places behind in OECD education attainment rankings. That charity line is such utter BS.
    Is the number of people in poverty after a Tory government and wealth inequality a sign of class war?

    He's trying to re-write history. In 2010 there was a financial crisis, now there isn't, but now the debt is far higher both in terms of percentage of GDP and in monetary terms. Perhaps he is comfortable where all the money "disappeared" to.

      Labour left the largest ever peacetime deficit in 2010. Learn the difference between deficit and debt.

      @@davidneverdaveJust checked on gov web site. 2010 deficit 10% and in 2020 15%. I understand you are a financial expert, but isn't a bigger number worse? I am willing to learn, if only there was a teacher that wasn't spouting absolute bollox. I don't support labour either so feel free to bash 'em.

      @@stevenhoward3358Office for budget responsibility confirm the 2010 deficit was 11% of national income compared with 2024 where it’s now 3.1%. 11 is nearly 4 times as much as 3.1 :) you’re welcome

      @@stevenhoward3358Firstly let’s point out that you just tried to lie and pretend the current deficit is 15%, no it’s not it’s 3.1%. Why did you lie?
      In 2018-2019 the deficit was even lower at just 1.1%, then Covid hit the world and the Gov provided financial support. At the time Labour were constantly complaining that the Tories weren’t spending enough. You can’t have it both ways here.

    As someone more on the right of politics I've got to say that Ava did a stand up job in this interview, asking challenging questions without insinuating malice or trying to paint the interviewee as evil or bad. Top marks from me 👍

    There are reasonable arguments in favour of allowing private schools to retain charitable status. However, the claim that their presence is needed to create a benchmark for state schools is a farce. How can someone that otherwise seems like a careful thinker make such a ridiculous claim?

    I suspect you agreed to this being quite casual.
    But I do rather wish you had taken perhaps one or two opportunities to question his parties record.
    At 20:30 you pivot from him saying public sector workers are receiving above inflation pay rises, to Rosie Duffield, i do however feel we would’ve been served better by one or two questions/stamens from you framing them s pay restoration after a long term pay cut under his administration, that needed to be rectified. And or taking the advice of the ‘independent’ pay review boards.
