Hi Paul C - I can see part of your message in my notifications, but it doesn't appear below. I also couldn't find it in the 'held for review' inbox either. It's so weird it's completely disappeared. I'm going to ask YT what's going on.
@@jsb7975 Thanks Pieter I really appreciate your kind comment here. It did take me a while to find just the right music, so I'm glad you like this too!
I have visited this “hidden church” several times since my childhood in the 70s. It used to be a real hidden gem in the red light district. But as a museum they dealt with lack of space. The beautiful entrance was used as a wardrobe and washroom area. Until they were able to acquire the neighboring house. Now they use that house for the museum facilities and they restored the whole building to its former glory. It’s still one of my favorite museums.
Hallo Daniella, erg leuke video weer!
Until 1853 Catholics were not alowed to have churches that were recognisable as a church ( With the exeption of N. Brabant and Z. Limburg because the fast majority of the population over there was catholic). Before 1853 only the Dutch reformed church was alowed to have recognisable churches, it was the state religion, although 40% of the population was no member
@@pocketlighthouse Interestingly, the attitude towards Catholics was just the same as the present day attitude towards soft drugs. They were tolerated, but a soft drug store is called a coffeeshop and a church was then in a house. Everybody knew/knows the truth, but nobody intervenes as it is convenient not to intervene.

You are definitly a great talent in depicting all that beautiness.
And that within such short of time.
Music is very well chosen as well.
Whenever concerts are allowed again, I highly recommend you to go to one of the concerts they usually have in Ons’ Lieve Heer Op Solder.

@@kubiekemeester Thank you for the heads up on this, I'll keep an eye out for those!

That's really interesting to hear what it was like back in the 70s and how the building has expanded since then. Thank you for sharing this :)
One of my fav museums! I could go again & again - can't wait to re-explore it on my next trip to Amsterdam.
That's lovely! I hope you have a great time the next time you visit.
Have you been to this museum before and what did you think of it? Are there any other museums in Amsterdam you’d recommend?
Hi Daniella, nice video and yes amazing little museum/church 👍
Thank you Jack. I really appreciate your kind comment here. :)
Go to the Rembrandt museum. It is only af few streets from “onze lieve heer op zolder” museum.
Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't managed to go there yet, but hope to one day soon! :)
Wow!! How many museums have you visited so far?
Oh gosh, I think it's about ten so far! Still SO MANY to visit ahhhhhh
