  • History is being made this week in the waters off Long Island, New York, as Ocearch says it's found the first-known birthing site for great white sharks on the north Atlantic coast. In less than a week, the team has fitted nine young sharks with locator tags, which will allow researchers to track their movements. Only on "CBS This Morning," Jeff Glor takes a behind-the-scene look at their efforts.

      @Conway Twitter They bite like 12 people a year, despite encountering people hundreds of thousands of times a year. Sharks live up and down the coasts of the U.S., and live close to the shore where people swim. Sharks don't predate on people. If they did, no one would be able to swim in the ocean ever.

    • @Vernors
      @Vernors Год назад

      @ConwayTwitterno, they don’t predate on people. You’re spreading misinformation. You’ve done absolutely no research either, not a single source will claim what you said- unless it’s highly unreliable, which I could prove if necessary.

    • @cds3703
      @cds3703 Год назад +1

      @ConwayTwitter that doesn't comply with the statistics. Sharks bite for sure, but there aren't many where the shark has actually consumed a human. The only situations where a shark will eat a human is out of desperation. For example, the Red Sea attack, the tiger shark that ate that man was killed and examined. The people who dissected it found that one, there was literally nothing in the sharks stomach which is odd since dissected sharks usually have something in their stomach. Two, the liver was extremely skinny for what it should be (thats where sharks store their energy) and three, the shark was also pregnant so it also had another physiological demand on her. The Red Sea is also overfished so combining all of that, it was bound to happen at some point or another.

      @columbusohio72 - What if the sharks don't feel scared? Animals are very intelligent and know when they're being threatened or not. Some Great White Sharks intentionally seek certain people whenever that person(s) is in the area and they don't attack them but instead looking to be fed, rub, or helped with something that's probably stuck in their body like a hook.
