Is super nice , I hope to get one soon , my question is this , once you point the 360 drive in a direction ,, does it move while your fishing ?,, is it strong on its own ?,, because I hold my rod with my left hand and reel with my right . .. do you have to keep your hand there or can you just track ?

Has it held up well? I've heard the 360 drive has durability issues with multiple components? I'm sticking to my 180 drive until they work out the bugs.

Hobie always makes improvements on the fly. Since they manufacture the drives, it's easy for them to modify or beef up areas. Plus with me they have always been great on warranties. The 360 drive has been out for two years now. I think it's better now than it was out of the chute.

Hobie comes up with some amazing stuff, they truly do. However, I just can't see spending 5000$ for a petal kayak. I'm sure this guy is sponsored but if anyone who buys this setup, I'd venture to guess they'd have at least 7 to 8 grand in this setup. It's just too much for normal folk with kids and family (nevermind the fact that you can't take any of your family fishing with you with that 8000 spent).

Have you priced bass boats lately?

@@marvinmonk1628 not really understanding why it would have to be a bass boat. To answer your question, no I haven't. I have however been in the market for a brand new 17 foot aluminum boat with a 70 merc that I can take a family of 6 out fishing for around 20k.

@@ghost38901 if $8k is too much...$12k more for a 17' aluminum is...$12k more! I get the Family angle, but don't pack 6 into a 17' -- that's a recipe for disaster. If you need a family boat, get a family boat, but don't compare it to a kayak. Apples and oranges here. If you want something that get's you closer to nature, provides access to water you can't get a 17' boat in, provides exercise, is easy to transport and launch, is economical to operate AND insure -- get a kayak. They make tandem's as well.

@@mikecarney1449 It's not apples and oranges. Both are a boat designed to fish. Before covid a 17 foot lowe was around 23k after the normal upgrades like trolling motor etc. You could put 5 in that boat. That's roughly 4600 a person. Pretty close to half of this hobie rigged out. Still stand by my original statement. P.s I don't agree with the "easy to transport and launch" part at all. With as much as they putting into these kayaks these days, you aren't launching this thing at a place without a boat ramp unless you make a LOT of trips back and forth to the truck.

@@ghost38901 Oh my dear Ghost...it's not before COVID and that Lowe is a lot more than the last time you priced it -- if you can find one. I also launch a PA 14 360 all the time at unimproved sites: shorelines, sandbars, beaches, small lakes, ponds and janky river banks. Kayak carts my friend. Granted some spots aren't easy, but a hell of a lot less frustrating than waiting in line at a ramp for someone attempting their third trip backing up...And sorry, yes, it's completely apples and oranges, or mangoes and papayas if you prefer. Just ponder the operating costs. You're comparing a minivan to a motorcycle. Both can take you the store; one's just a hell of a lot more exhilarating and more cost effective to insure and operate. But if you need to bring grandma and the kids, I agree, stick to the minivan. Either way, enjoy the trip my friend!
