Dude i just got one and im on a wing and a prayer… Fortunately i have other toys i can sell to make up for this purchase but im definitely washing dishes for a minute 🤣… Whats worse is i just sold a few guns to my old town salty… I clearly have a death wish
It is more maneuverable when you aren't actively fishing, sure, but don't you still have to have your hands available to back up and go forward? So, if i'm fishing, isn't that a disadvantage? I don't have pedals of any kind at the moment, but I wish I did. When I'm fishing, I often want to move forward and backward, but I can't - I need my paddle. I imagine that a Native pedal drive would win on that front. Or, perhaps I'm missing the point? Thanks.
@@HeadwatersKayak I will love it if you demo that question, im fishing the shoreline, an i just want to keep the position, when i hit a shoal off fish, an like wdh1068 says, it dosent seems to be possible with the new 360mirage drive.
Dan, after watching this video an see this 360 unit (Looks complex) I thought of a 360 propulsion system using water pressure out of a simple round rotating pipe use peddles to flush water through pipe using left hand dial to turn unit around in 360. Hobie PA 360, wins hands down ! 1 / it’s got heaps more storage, it got heaps more deck space, and way more fishable” 2/ it peddle power, human power, don’t have to keep checking on battery power. 3/ you can add a bow mount motor with spot lock if you need to. And add to that, you have your MD360 as well for back up ‘ with old town 120 you have nothing if you run out of battery, just paddles :( Sportsman 120 is a toy, a remote control boat, not a fishing kayak ! Do you not have independent control of the rudder and drive rotation? Seems like the boat would possibly behave in an undesirable way at times if they work on the same control.
Michael Nicolaysen dame hand desperate controls. Should have got a closer shot. It’s pretty intuitive. Honestly I did 90% of my direction just with the flippers when I was playing in it.
Looks like a great kayak. For Dan to say it beats the Titan says a LOT. How well does the new Hobie drive do in thick weeds? It would be interesting to take the Hobie drive and Propel drive through the same thick weeds and see how they compare.
This is a full odd ball of a statment here, i would be interested to see if hobie could make a tandem twin pedal drive sit ontop yak. i could only imagin how fast that thing could cut through water with two people using two independand fully functional pedal drives .
Really nice product. Its like cars. Wide price range. Folks argue with my about my SP10. Why get that when I could have gotten a sit on top for 400? Just use a paddle they say.
Okay how did you get a green and white they were saying the only color she was going to be able to get it in for the first round was going to be blue and white
@Headwaters kayak. Hello I recently got a 2020 hobie outback and need to upgrade my life jacket. Could you recommend a good life vest most comfortable with the 2020 outback seat and still good for fishing?
@@HeadwatersKayak thank you so much for your quick response. I saw someone else recommend this one and I am definitely leaning towards it. A lot of people recommend inflatables but I can't trust em.
So as long as the arrow points forward you have kick-up fins, but with the fins ability to rotate 360 degrees you snap off your fins if you lose focus on the directional arrow? It's late and I'm tired, maybe I missed something.😵 Hobie does make a sweet product but they have totally priced me out of contention. Great video though Dan, as usual. 👍
Mr E whatever way the fins are facing is the direction of the Propulsion so chances are if you hit something you’ll be under way and they will kick up. Or if your worries just flip them against the hull same as before. $$ is high, but when you lead the way I guess you charge the most. You can buy a pretty rigged out titan with electronics and a motor for similar $$. To each is own.
Here is Canada they are asking $6,115.00 before tax. So that is 6,115 x .15= 917.25 so 6,115 + 917.25 = 7,032.25 . Then the lowest PDF price is $139.00 x .15 = 20.85 So that's another $ 160.00 . Basically I would be looking at $ 7200.00 . For that money I could get a used 12 ft aluminum with trailer and a 15 horse motor. A fish finder, 2 life jackets then install a hitch on the car to tow it. It is one hell of a nice rig but she's not that nice at that price. Ouch.
ArbitraryLifestyle let’s put it this way. I’ve never had someone come and demo both and go home with the non-360. But if you already have the regular one, you want me disappointed. If you love it you’ll always upgrade down the line
So, this stays the same, that stayed the same, this stays the same, this is the same, this is the same but... we changed the drive. Sooo.... we doubled the price. You're welcome 😊
I think Dan nailed it. What it really comes down to for me is whether the MD360 is worth spending an extra $800 over the MD180, or $2000 over the cost of a Native Titan 12 or Slayer 12 Max. As far as I'm concerned, if you're already leaning towards the MD180 over a Native Propel boat, just drop the extra $800 on the MD360. You've either got enough money to do it, or you're disciplined enough to keep saving until you do. If you're not already leaning towards the PA12 with the MD180, my first thought would be "I can buy a lot of new gear with the $2000 I'm not spending on the boat".
🤣 no worries man. Yea if your looking at a regular PA this is a total no brainer. It’s worth every cent for the upgrade. If your looking at a native for $2500 then your talking about some serious cash to upgrade. And to be honest the titan is a close second when it comes to control. The Hobie does have other bells whistles and be idiots too though.
Russell Moore doubt it. I’ve watched Hobie over the past 15 years and I’ve never seen them go down in price. Almost always they jump up in price the following year. Time will tell though.
