    Being born in 94 and not getting my first jet ski until 2020 I really feel like I missed out on this. Having bought a rn superjet last year. Heavily modified but neglected. I had to clean it up and rebuild it. I learned a ton from men like this and even had to talk to someone at Riva Racing to get it jetted right and running well. I think it is awesome to listen to you all talking about all this. Please keep it up!

    That was awesome! I've been riding 30 years. Its so awesome riding a 1500, my hearts full of joy glancing over at my 11 year old riding an SXR 800, then we watch VHS Rippenkroeger and show him how to really do the things i pretend to teach him, now finding your channel yesterday! Thanks for the memories!
    I ate up the 650 videos, parked an old beater 650 in front of my shop a couple months ago to remind me to get to it. Now I know what issues to address along the way. Appreciate it.

    I think the bullnose got the 1046cc Genesis engine that have been around the block for a long time in snowmobiles. Or the later version with 998cc enginge. And the later one was designed for boost.

    Just found this channel. This was super interesting! I've always wondered how the Wave Jammer came to be, and even though I was born in '88, I've always felt that -- even when new -- that particular model had to have looked *_very_* goofy, making it a head-scratcher as to why Yamaha chose to give the handlebar bulkhead that oddball shape.
    Never would've guessed that it was the result of some workaround for a patent that Kawi held at that time baring other manufacturers from producing anything with a "normal" handlebar pole.
    Also, I wholeheartedly agree about the appeal of the standup skis to anybody that's got some athletic drive and/or interest in the skill demand and higher stakes that a standup yields. And just like Tony said, it's super analogous to motocross/supercross, where comparatively the ATV/side-by-side contemporaries just don't garner anywhere near the amount of spectator interest.
    Immediately subscribed! Thanks for sharing.

      That is a John Dady original Blowsion kolors paint job (one of his first)! I rescued that from a paint shop here in town just before they were getting it prepped for paint. I stopped them from sanding it down, reached out to the owner and traded one of my Goodtimes Terminator x-2's for it. I will be doing a video on it some day...

    Fantastic interview. Live your videos. Where did the Octane fit into this mix?

    • @jetskijim007
      @jetskijim007  5 месяцев назад +1

      I am doing a video on the Octane. Back about the turn of the century, Polaris decided to make a move into the stand up scene, they had been pretty successful making sit downs, and they figured why not utilize one of the industry leaders? So they hooked up with Wamilton out of Florida, and set out to take the stand up to the next level. So they took the Superjet and made several changes, a stretch here, widen it there, you know, fix and improve the little areas that the industry had learned over the years of racing that could be better. And because of the odd rules of the racing sanctioning body, they decided if they put the racing upgrade parts on it from the factory, it would legally be considered "stock" class ski. Genius.... So they outfitted the ski's from the factory with a Skat trak magnum pump, impeller, and reduction nozzle, UMI handlepole, Factory pipe, etc. and they instantly became the fastest standup available. They continually improved it until they ceased production a few years later. My opinion is that Kawasaki stepped up their game with the SXR, and sales of the SXR skyrocketed while the Octane didn't. Also Polaris stepped back away from watercraft all together shortly after that to focus on the off road market where they held stronger market share. (smart move for them in hind sight, they have smashed it in the side by side world)....

      Oh. Cool. I have dreamed of owning one of those. So even though they aren't made anymore are parts still available mostly due to the Yamaha heritage?

    Might have bought a gp800 (so boring compared to a stand up) from that dude in 98' Hey no mention of the free style ?!?! Man that was mind blowing watching Rad Rick Roy throw his ski around!
