- Syracuse lost to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 17-7 in Week 2 college football action. A tight game the entire way, the Orange out-gained Rutgers 258-195, but turned the ball over 3 times in the loss. Orange running back Sean Tucker rushed for 54 yards and a touchdown, and WR Taj Harris had 8 receptions for 122 yards in the game.
Ugly win for Rutgers. But the defense balled out.
Rutgers is 2-0 purely on defense and special teams. The offense is completely inept with Vedral and the O-line being completely inconsistent. The offense looks like it has regressed from last season.
Funny because I told everyone the o my way Rutgers win this game is through special teams.
The O Line looked better with their new lineup against a Delaware team that would definitely beat Temple.

The Cuse D-line spent the afternoon in the backfield… Special teams really made a difference. Did anyone think the Cuse D-line looked stronger & faster than RU O-line ? A win is a win though ! Go RU !

Offensive linemen, good ones, are worth there weight in precious gems.
Rutgers has a lot more work to do if they think they compete in the Big 10 with an offense like this. The defense can't win them all.

Exactly, Syracuse is going to win at least 6 games this year with that defensive front they played. Vedral played great to not turn the ball over even once!
I hope Schiano has an ace up his sleeve for the rest of the season because with this offense they are going to get DESTROYED!!
This is primarily the fault of the o-line. Next year can't come soon enough, their 2022 recruiting class has a lot of big OLs.
Appears SYRACUSE was outcoached rather than outplayed.
RU's defense and special teams certainly outplayed the Cuse's. The offense not so much. And special teams always favors the Knights.

As the population increases you will have hundreds more outstanding players. In about 30 years all the conf will be of equal strength. No one will dominate anymore, only superior coaching..
Schiano outcoached and Rutgers outprogrammed the counterparts here. Rutgers could be for years third best program to Maine from Maryland. With some "luck" WVU could be displaced. Being competitive with PSU -- say 3 wins any 11 game period -- would please many.

Babers, penalties, and Shrader lost this game. Cuse defense was fantastic!!! Does Cuse have more than one WR? Tommy has no weapons besides Tucker and Taj. It’s a shame because the kid gets the flack for not winning but to be fair who does he have? Rutgers has better skills at WR and Vedral did absolutely nothing.

Babers doesn’t call the plays, that’s Gilbert and he needs to go. Tommy only looks for Taj and Tucker. Shrader at least threw to every receiver on the field. He just couldn’t get into a rhythm. The refs really hooked up Rutgers but the offensive coaching killed it for Syracuse.
@@douglasvollmer4073 looked for other wrs because he doesn’t know who to throw it to. It’s a timed offense no winging it. Dungey had to learn how to read coverage that’s Devito skill set he’s better with a timed offense the problem is Syracuse can’t block. This is why running around makes sense to people who don’t know offense. Babers system has option routes so while people ignorantly are saying Tommy’s staring down wrs he actually waiting for them to make a decision. 🤣

That's Shiano's specialty...defense. By the end of the season Rutgers defense will be making a name for itself. Offense...not so sure about it.
This game goes to show ref (these ones being from the big 10) are corrupt and have the ability to choose who wins the game. The nonsense unsportmans call in the third was the deciding factor. Rutgers coach years into refs for 5 minutes, no problem - Syracuse coach points out the obvious bad call and in the response the refs give the game to Rutgers. No one wins here, Syracuse got screwed and Rutgers won a game they know they shouldn’t have. Two losers this time but not as big as the refs

I don't see Rutgers beating any legit teams this year but their defense can keep them in games. They should beat Delaware, and if they can beat Maryland and maybe northwestern them they'll be bowl eligible. Rutgers 2 years ago without schiano would lose to this Syracuse team by 20+
