    For us 'mericans (who don't realize all the gas cans have both Imperial and Metric units on them, so Chris' nifty trick will work just fine for us) and want to work with gallons and ounces just multiply the gallon figure by 2.6 to get the oz of 2-cycle oil to add:
    1 gal gas * 2.6 = 2.6 oz oil
    1/2 gal gas * 2.6 = 1.3 oz oil
    5 gal gas * 2.6 = 13 oz oil
    etc.

    For us in the US there are 128 oz. in a gallon. So divide 128 by 50 to get 2.6 Oz of oil. No need to use common core math to calculate this.

    For everyone in the U.S. -
    1. Get a small spare gas can for oil and gas mix.
    2. For EACH gallon of gas, add 76.9 ml of oil mix.
    3. Try to get as close to 2.000 (etc.) gallons as possible.
    NOT DOLLARS, on the top display at the gas pump. Look at the bottom display when filling your gas can.
    GO AHEAD AND DOUBLE CHECK.
    THIS IS THE CORRECT 50:1 RATIO.

    To make it simple...50:1...50 is the amount of petrol and 1 that's the amount of oil..so in every 50 litres of petrol..you mixed it with a 1000millilitres of oil..you get 1000millilitres by multiplying 50 litres by 2 and then just add a zero to your answer which end up to 1000millilitres..cheers from Australia;-)

    Just divide the ml to the ratio, eg: 5000ml fuel / 50 ratio = 100ml of oil.
    5000ml / 25 ratio = 200ml of oil
    3000ml of fuel / 30 ratio = 100ml of oil.

    • @chrisnotap
      @chrisnotap  10 месяцев назад +1

      If you doubled it up, it would be 25:1. So for 100:1 you would half it further from 20ml, which would make it 10ml per litre.
      METRIC
      25:1 Add 40 ml of 2-cycle oil into one LITRE of gas.
      50:1 Add 20 mL of 2-cycle oil into one LITRE of gas.
      100:1 Add 10 mL of 2-cycle oil into one LITRE of gas.
      US
      25:1 Add 5.2 oz. of 2-cycle oil into one gallon of gas.
      50:1 Add 2.6 oz. of 2-cycle oil into one gallon of gas.
      100:1 Add 1.3 oz. of 2-cycle oil into one gallon of gas.

  • @tnuis

    An even easier method is that if you have a 50:1 ratio you just take the amount of litres of fuel you want to mix and divide that number by 50. The result is your need for oil, in litres. So if you have 5 litres of gasoline and you want to make that a 50:1 ratio with oil you just divide 5 by 50 = 0.1Litres of oil. If you have 15L of fuel divide 15 by 50 = 0.3L of oil.
    The advantage of this method is that it's only 1 mathematical operation and it works for any mixture ratio regardless of the ratio and regardless of it beeing in Litres or Gallons. 100:1 ratio, just divide the amount of fuel you want to mix by 100 and so on😊

  • @Jonnn21
    @Jonnn21 Год назад +3

    Can you do this in gallons?

    • @tnuis
      @tnuis Год назад +1

      Offcourse, it doesn't matter. Ratio is ratio regardless of the measurement variant. 50:1 is for every 50 gallons of gasoline you mix that with 1 gallon of oil. So if you have 5 gallons of fuel you divide that by 50, = 0.1 gallon of oil. So in the 5 gallons of gasoline you mix 0.1 gallon of oil.

    It recently occurred to me to get an accurate mixture ratio that you would need to subtract the amount of oil...for example if I'm mixing 20 liters of gas at 40 to 1 then I should add 19.5 liters of gas (Not 20 liters) to 500 ml of oil, this way I have 20 liters of gas oil mix total and 1 fortieth of that is oil. Am I wrong, looking for insight on this, thanks and regards.

      no, because the 40 to 1 ratio means you use 40 parts gasoline, and 1 part oil. if you want to achieve a certain percentage of oil in your premix however you are correct, but in that case the difference is so small that it doesn't really matter. for example if you're aiming for a 2% ratio of oil in 20 liters of gasoline and add 400 ml of oil according to the 50:1 ratio you will end up with 1.9608% oil in the gasoline, the total difference is 0.0392%.

    Out of curiosity..... Why does a 40:1 ratio use 2.5 as the multiplier while 50:1 uses 2?
