This true fuel is expensive but I use it in my stihl saw and it’s been flawless for years. It starts much easier and runs much better with this stuff than the pump stuff.
I buy the trufuel in bulk. It is worth it to me because about 2 cans gets me through the year. I'll run it in my chainsaw unless I have a big job but I would definitely at least run this before winter to keep your engines clean
Good 👍🏼 information and if you have many toys with different ratios and don’t have time to look in the manuals you can write it with a black marker on the gas tank
I use true fuel In my trimmer and started using it in my chainsaw today. Had to adjust the carb a bit but runs better now. I get non ethanol gas for my 4 stroke mowers in a 5 gallon can and add a full container of mechanic in a bottle and they run like new all the time! Never have carb issues!
Common trick to removing alcohol or ethanol from gasoline. Thoroughly mix 1 gallon of distilled water to 4 gallons of gasoline. Let it sit overnight. Siphon off the ethanol free gasoline into a clean fuel container. This process is way easier if you use one of those clear culligan 5 gallon water containers you can get from Walmart so you can see how far down to siphon as the gasoline will “float” on top of the water. 👍🏻 Been doing this for almost 10 years now. The water mixes with the alcohol and not the gasoline.
I've been a mechanic for a long time, Ive rebuilt everything from weed eaters to end loaders, The most important tip I could ever give, Don't store your small engine with pump gas, Some of my favorite projects will never see pump gas ever, VP and TruFuel are leagues above pump gas, Canned fuel is chemically engineered with many different property's, as well as no ethanol, I cant stress this enough! Run pump gas during the season for cost, But its got to be out of the system before storage!
Bro let me ask you. I use the first one he showed 4-Cycle Engineered Fuel TF3 in the Gray Can, in my Husqvarna lawnmower, as well as in my 4 cycle 30 cc craftsman weed wacker. The weed wacker works fine but my lawn mower had a great summer but midway threw the second summer I owned it, midway thru cutting the grass it cut off and would not restart at all. If I send you the make and model could you possible give me your feed back weather you think it was the gas or not?
Blair I found recently if you go to 10 mile in centerline at sherwood Scharf's Service & Fuel Oil will sell you RV gas no ethanol make sure you buy a couple gallons or more to make it worth the trip.
Check w Honda, I bet newer models are designed to use alcohol gas. Plus they should recommend what their machines use best. Or a local small engine shop can coach on what is best.
That canned fuel will actually remove carbon build up on the piston that can build up when running too rich, 2 cycles suffer more problems than 4 cycles when this happens.
This year I started "extracting" the ethanol from my high test gasoline. It's not bad for a home owner time wise; but for commercial applications it probably doesn't make sense.
Don't forget, the more oil the leaner the air to fuel ratio. I use OPTI 2 Cycle oil at 100 to 1 in everything I own. Expensive trials bikes to chainsaws
I'm a mechanic in Illinois, Ive had to rebuild or clean out all of my 2 cycles on a constant basis, Pretty much anytime you would look at one, Until I switched to canned fuels, You should start buying lottery tickets or rip up that contract you made with the devil!
The ethanol free gas at gas stations and marinas does not have lead. It is just blended to meet the octane number without using the ethanol and thus it costs more. Some of it is going to end up in cars where it would destroy the catalytic converters if it had lead.
Funny I use two old 1960,s chainsaws. homelite Xl12's the fuel cap says mix 1/2 pint oil with each gallon of gas. and thats what I do. I use the walmart Super Tech 2 cycle oil. those chain saws are over 50 years old and stil going strong. I simply do not let then set with gas in the tanks. I pour it out and run until they are out of fuel. I also have a plastic Husky 55 rancher I bought New in 2000. Use the same fuel. No problems. The oiler dont work properly it is stingy. I wish it had a manual oiler. I try and avoid using the ethanol corn gas if I can.
I don’t believe using 50 to 1 or 40 to one would’ve had much effect on that tool. Depending on its age, I would check and clean or replace the spark plug, I’ve also had plenty of my small gas appliances go bad in the carburetor by using alcohol gas prior to switching to alcohol free fuel. I have access to marine gas which doesn’t hurt my small gas appliances either.
I have, the better oil works at a higher ratio over the old oils. When in doubt or when breaking in a new motor I add a little more oil the first tank or 2.
I bought the true fuel 50 to 1 but now all my engines are 30 and 40 to 1. How much oil do i need to add to 1 gal of 50 to 1 to make it 30 to 1 so i can use it? Im so bad with this stuff. Can i even do that? Add more oil to make my 50 to 1 a 30 to 1?
I believe the 40:1 Trufuel w/synthetic oil will do 30:1 machines also. I would not recommend mixing a different oil w/the trufuel. Make a separate batch from scratch (w/alcohol free gas) if there are any doubts, or call customer service for your machine and check w/them. The synthetic oils makes it way better than regular 2-cycle oil.
I got a 1986 2 stroke Robin engine 244cc and I downloaded manual and it says mix..124:1? That's 1 ounce a gallon i have had motor cycles, 4wheeler 2 stroke and never mixed it less than 2.6 of oil to a gallon of gas. Can someone help?
thx, feel stupid now, alway's thought, the 40:1 n 50:1 backward's to you explaining 40 drop's gas, to 1 drop oil, LOL, good thing I use true fuel, n no longer mix myself,
I put the wrong (pre-mixed) ratio fuel in my Sears Craftsman 2 stroke weedwacker and now it won’t start.. I pulled and pulled the starter cord but nothing. Did I mess up something? P.S. I did this after not using the weedwacker for about a year
I don't think the oil ratio ruined your weedwacker, the alcohol in the gas has ruined 2 of my weedwackers. Too much oil can foul a spark plug, change that first.
let's do the math. 37 for one can of 50:1 pre mix. will need at least three of those for a summer. price of new carburetor on eBay 10-15 tops that's once every two years.
Anyone can purchase non ethanol fuel, any kind, only a small minority can replace a carburetor. These are tips for the common person, not the mechanic. they make fun of me... lol Blair
They don't have lead these fuels are very different compared to typical fuel its engineered to burn very clean and lubricate very good even the 4 cycle has lubricant in it fuel lube is very underestimated overlooked I have been using fuel lube for decades I use Marvel Mystery oil in my fuel in everything I own the engines will run for alot longer compression doesn't go away because the rings are being lubricated and cleaned you can also use the original Lucas fuel treatment I prefer the Marvel mystery oil because it cleans more also couple hundred miles before oil changes on my engines I add the mystery oil to the oil small engines couple hours before service when using this stuff with synthetic oils and in fuel you will never replace an engine been doing this for 30 years
My weedeater is 10 years old blower is 13 never had gas issues or any problems at all just a money maker thing paying 20 bucks a gallon isnt worth it to me no issues and I dont k ow anyone that had any issues with ethnol gas i just make sure theirs no gas sitting in my stuff when not in use not saying ur wrong but I had no issues
It's not the ethanol that causes engine problems. Ethanol does not eat rubber. These problems are caused by benzene and other carcenogenic poisons they put in gasoline to make it cheaper. You drink ethanol if you've ever had a beer. And engines run better on pure ethanol than on gasoline. TruFuel is good because it's benzene-free, not because it's ethanol-free.
Ethanol is hygroscopic, it draws water in from the air creates water in fuel tank and breaks the fuel down and causes corrosion in the tank, the alcohol drys the fuels hoses, I know cause I run the chemical plant that makes it
Tin Man Right about the time you were making your poorly informed comment, I had put one of my saws on the shelf after filling it with pump gas. I recently tried to start it and no go. I opened the fuel cap and dumped it into a container only to find total phase separation. The ethanol and condensate had separated from the gas and the alcohol solution settled to the bottom. So it would appear ethanol is a problem
Why not just remove the Ethanol from the regular gas and add the required amount of oil to it, there are you tube shows of how to do it and it is simple!
It is not the Alcohol. It is the other additives the gas companies add the their gas. Alcohol attracts water. But does not damage the Diaphrame. Benzine is one of the culprit.
I don't believe premium prevents ethanol damage. Seafoam and others make additives to prevent damage from ethanol but that wasn't the goal of the column. Thanks for the comment, it all needs to be addressed.
@@MrHardware1 Premium does not equal ethanol free. Some gas stations have dedicated pumps for ethanol free. If you have a QT station near you they have ethanol free pumps with red handles.
Ethanol free gas is real scarce right now in central Virginia. Can city premium gas be used with Lucas ethanol treatment and it won't hurt my engine? It's the greenish liquid in a plastic bottle.
