An Actual GOOD Wireless Keyboard For Nintendo Switch?
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 10 окт 2024
- More and more MMORPGs are starting to come to the Nintendo Switch making the need for a keyboard to communicate through text more necessary. The issue we have been running into is using a standard wired or wireless keyboard is cumbersome and other third party accessories are overpriced for being wired. Today I wanted to look at a wireless keyboard many viewers said I should check out, is it actually good?

5:26 lol Okay dude, I think Nintendo finally got it. ;)
this is def going to be useful once Animal Crossing comes out
ohhh true that!
Gotta pick this up
never even thought of that.... now i need it 👀
That’s actually why I’m watching this lol
I need it !
c thinking that the switch app would be better for my iPhone and could probably hook up the AirPods for voice chat too!
That’s really going to help with Hub chat for Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate👍🏽
I was literally just thinking that. But now I gotta play with joy cons instead of procontroller
@@azenar1894 Pro controller feels so good for Gen U while joy cons are just sort of lackluster. But with the keypad it might be slightly better in terms of functionality
@@cringepotato8790 yea. It takes too long to use the sticks to type it out. I loved 4u on 3ds how I could type quickly.
The wasted space inside that could hold cartidges if you mod it right.
ITS GENIUS
Or more simple, a headphone jack
@@dr.scotttaylor7191 Pretty sure that's less simple
@@thezx5795 Thats the dumbest thing I have ever heard this week.
Unless there's programmed charging limits on the charging circuit inside the keypad, you could almost 100% just order a gigantic battery off of eBay or Amazon and just hot-glue it in place to get like 40 hours of battery life on it
Oh boy I can't wait to type faster on my switch!
It would be useful if Nintendo added more multimedia stuff like Netflix, a web browser, etc. Also useful for MMOs.
tymandude 1
I forgot what the game was, but there was some sort of MMO that was planned to come to the switch that's supposed to launch alongside a keyboard-like attachment like in this vid, but that may have been a fever dream
@@quinndaniels1928l
would like to see a 2.0 ver with slightly bigger keys so not much space would be wasted
The large space is for stickers!😍
Ogram Brat I was gonna say the same thing. To personalize it make it your own.
Haha I was thinking that too. Then I thought a post it note for all the monster hunter quests I need to do!
Do a video upgrading the battery on this keyboard!😋
As someone with an Xbox chatpad, I can say without a doubt, this is a fantastic idea. The chatpad's one of the best investments I've made to my gaming collection. Definitely getting this
the power connection to the joy-cons is because the keyboard acts as a charging grip, so when you plug it in to charge the keyboard it'll also charge the joy-cons.
freaking nice. i think i'll get one of these.
@@HaxHaunter a bit of a warning, the buttons aren't as responsive as they should be.
it still types better than the terrible touch screen keyboard tough.
@@Marvin_R i can live with that, i hate touch screen keyboards lol
but this keyboard is super useful when playing docked. it will come in handy for Warframe, since that's a game you mostly communicate through in-game chat.
When this video started I thought that blank space at the top of the keypad would be a trackpad. That seems like a real wasted opportunity.
Well, a trackpad wouldn't be too much of a use on the Switch, unless it is modded. It would be better with they just made the keys big enough to cover that space.
If they put keys up there, it might be hard for people to reach the top keys with their thumbs
@@hadokenexe yeah, that's true
7:40 maybe those cables are for charging the joycons when you plugged into a charger ?
Yeah, I was just thinking this; and combined with a battery pack, this would actually be plenty useful.
I imagine the internal battery can be replaced by someone with sufficient knowledge.
I miss the Wii U gamepad. The touchscreen was really great for chatting/typing in-game.
I really want the switch light to function as a secondary controller
With Among Us out on the Nintendo Switch now...
Exactly why I need it
Have you guys used this with Among Us? I'm considering getting it for the game was curious how well it worked with that game.
Nice keyboard. Now I can use it to send messages faster to my friend list friends... o wait....
Oh nice. Now I can continue to be one of the few people who type messages on minecraft bedrock edition.
I hope they add a microphone and headjack to this
You could always go on Aliexpress, or eBay, and mod in a bigger battery if you have the soldering skills, also you can just get some cool Nintendo themed stickers to cover up the large blank space.
I'm wondering if this would be good for among us switch. Hmmm
Hats why i want one
This is actually a really good find, a nicely sized keyboard that doesn't bulk out the controller like a Wii U gamepad, I could definitely see myself using one of these when Animal Crossing comes out!
People call the GamePad bulky but say nothing about the steam deck.
Yea ik its a PC but still.
@@LennyQUMFIF My comment is from 3 years ago, the steam deck wasn't even out then so how was I to know 😭
Honestly, I like the open space on the top half. It gives you some room to customize it with your own designs, be it stickers, paintings or any other way to put some art onto it.
Among us Just came out on switch as of me commenting this, I am probably gonna get this to be able to actually type
I bought it for among us too haha
I was thinking about getting it too, do you recommend it?
@@Elifmealone personally, I think it's better on the phone just because I find myself I'd ng the touchscreen for tasks and to type, it's neat sure but If your phone can play it I would stick with that
Well you have to do a video of putting a bigger battery in there now...
The blank space at the top is a nice spot for you to put stickers, also I’d like to see you replace that battery with a bigger one
Now we're ready for a Mario teaches typing port on the switch
This thing stopped working for me after a week or so, unless it was plugged into the switch directly it was useless.. still looking for a replacement
Looks like you could put a smartphone holder on the empty area, but most modern smartphones are sadly too big to fit without being in the way of either the keyboard or the Joycon(s)
Yay! I was one of the ones to recommend this one. I've had it over a year now, but never tested the limits of the battery. Would imagine that other than an occasional ping to the dongle, it doesn't use much of the battery, unless typing. It should last for hours.
How do you sync it? The manual says something about "code key to 2S" but not sure what that means, and if it just means the sync button... that's not working.
What if the connectors to the Joycon are for charging them when the keyboard is connected to a power source via USB-C? If that's the case it would double as a charging dock. Would you be so kind and check that?
i cant wait to play mother333333333
In a way it is kind of cool that the space on the top above the keypad because you can easily customize with your own stickers or decal. Gives you the option to be creative.
I have one of these keyboards. I made a few mods. I had to clip the grips off because most clear shells come with grips for the joycons. Additionally I used the blank space to double-side tape on a old smart phone with Nintendo's app. Now I have a fully featured joycon set with a keyboard and access to the Switch Online app right in my hand.
Pictures bro!
@@UncleBofficial gbatemp.net/threads/this-is-how-you-prepare-for-nintendo-switch-online.518326/#post-8361002
this thing's great for Warframe, which uses the keyboard to type a lot.
Same with MHGU.
HackerHaunter Same With Minecraft
Trading and recruiting just got easier.
This WILL NOT work on my switch. what the FUCK
That's exactly what i was looking for, thank you!!
Love the video Jon but what’s the point of having a keyboard when there’s no browser and no way to message friends
Some games have more than just character naming to do. Like Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate has messages to customize. Like greetings, mounting monsters, needing healing, etc., while in town of the game, prior to getting into the combat. eShop is likely the more common place this would be used. I wonder if Splatoon 2's chat thing would use it or not...? I've not played that game.
With the wasted space i wonder if they could have made the keyboard more vertical in set up and shrink it horizontally. It would keep it semetrical with the joycons while making the buttons easier to reach with your thumbs.
Paladins on switch, supports keyboard chat in lobbies along with voice chat which this would also be very good for.
So this keyboard it's to play Mother 3, am i right?
They can use that space for a touchpad to allow touchscreen input on dock mode.
I rather just use the touchscreen tbh.
@@316whatupz how'd you do that in docked mode? The suggestion was if you wanted touch input while docked.
@@Snickdx I mean I rather use touchscreen on handheld mode.
I think I want this almost entirely for it being a muuuuch better looking grip than the “comfort grip” from Nintendo
It would be good for talking trash in Rocket League.
lol
ok, now I see a use for this lol
Now we need an actual GOOD MMO for Switch to go with it :D
For me add a larger battery for charging the joycons and add a headphone jack beings it is seen as a wired object by the switch and it would be a must have for me
When I am complimenting Mettaton.exe in Undertale, I will use this
Very good tech wave Jon(SW). This Wireless Keyboard looks like the way too go, especially for MMO Titles and if ever WoW comes too the Switch aswell. Could they include a bigger Battery too add some weight and put a Laptop Touch TrackPad up where that blank space is maybe.
PS3 and PS4 have them as well. A nice little keyboard that attaches to the controllers.
Alastinis do you have one for a PlayStation? If so, do you use it often?
@@FallicIdol I have both and used them a lot one Final Fantasy 14
I don’t know why so many people here are knocking this thing. Many people don’t need a full size usb keyboard for games or while browsing through Hulu and RUclips on the Nintendo Switch, but a small keypad is great! This is perfect for simple searching and much better than clicking letter by letter with the thumb stick. Yeah, battery could be bigger and the empty space above the keys is a little weird, but first thing I thought about that was “cool place for a sticker!”
Anyway, ordered one myself and looking forward to receiving it. Thanks for the breakdown @SpawnWave
I know it's old, but wires to the JoyCon's are chargers from the USB
I modded to have larger capacity battery.
I'm tempted just to pick one up and use it as an oversized grip for the Joy-cons. The wireless keyboard for me at least is just a nice bonus.
do you have a de-Esser on that audio? those "s" sounds are sharp in my headphones. Cool keyboard though, seen them online, interesting there are some games to actually utilize it.
Dobe's been on a roll, I actually like their products B tier stuff
With that much Space this thing has, it would be nice to put the USB Adapter in the back to pretend losing it. I have a "Wii" wireless Keyboard and this has a small window on the back to put the Adapter in, if you don't use the Keyboard.
whether that blank area had something or not , I would just go ahead put something of my own there covering whatever they would have on there
I can use this on warframe on the switch
That's what I thought. But this thing does NOT work lol
There’s also helps if you have RUclips on your Nintendo Switch and probably many more others that uses keyboard typing as well
I will be using this for DC Universe and Sword Art Online
I would _absolutely_ use that over the crappy default thing the Joycons slide into. Having a decent keypad is just a bonus.
Can you show how to connect it? Mine connects to the joycon but then it won't work for actually typing on the screens
Wow this looks really cool! I'll definitly try to pick this up!
u saw it here first folks, spawnwave just confirmed mother3333333333 for the switch
What happened to the other 3333333330 mother games?
@@316whatupz they never left japan...
Damn I'm disappointed, i thought the blank space was a touchpad! That would be dope for using it as a mobile phone controller like the playstation controllers can do. Great review video!
Same here. I just assumed it was a touchpad.
A SpawnWave video that doesn’t have him in the thumbnail?!
With that space u can customize it with stickers i suppose
Nah, I’m happy they left that space blank. We can customize it however we like by adding a sticker or decal of our choosing
I might have to pick it up eventually. I would love to test it out on Paladins, Warframe and possibly DCUO.
I bought this a few months ago, and it doesn't work. I plugged in that little USB thing but I can't get the Switch to recognize it. I thought maybe I needed to charge it, but that's not the case.
It was a huge disappointment because it reminds me of that Blackberry cell phone that I spent endless hours texting on. I haven't had luck with this, have the USB plug (the tiny adapter it came with), tried charging it, even turned it on and off on the back, held the "Pairing" button with no luck. Got any tips how to get it working?
I'll get it... I'll never use it but, still.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that Iwata needed an Amiibo to beat Reggie in Smash Bros.
Can anyone tell me how to sync it? The manual says something about "code key to 2S" but not sure what that means, and if it just means the sync button... that's not working.
No, don't put weights inside your controllers. Put weights in things that are supposed to sit semi-put, like a desktop keyboards. Or better yet a mechanical keyboard with CNC aluminum case, can be really hefty.
Seems like thats just a charge buard in there conectung to its internal battery and the joycons so all 3 can be charged at once when conected to the usb 3 cable.
This
i have it, I own it, it's really cool and nice. reminds me of my 360 chatpad. I did have to take off the bottom grips to fit my aftermarket joycons (they have the gel guards in the controller shell mold) but it was really a great purchase to use for DC Online
Ok I know this is from a year ago lol but how do you get it to sync? I held the button and nothing happend
I'd use this for monster Hunter. Also, maybe the blank space in the middle of the keyboard can be a battery indicator for the keypad.
Clearly, that is a space for your stickers to go! :P
Can you charge it while using it? just saw the date on this vid ooops lol. Any updates on a newer one of these? LOve the setup, but agree, bigger battery with Joycon charging etc would be awesome.
Reggie didn't make his grand exit and give us Mother 3, I am sad now.
Too many pussies in our country would be offended.
Today's fact: The first film with a $100 million budget was True Lies, which was made in 1994.

This is quite the novelty but I wouldn't be caught dead using joycons while my Switch is docked. I use a logitech wireless keyboard when I need to type something and a normal Pro controller to play
Some of that empty space could have been used to store the wireless dongle, like how wireless mice do.
CamelHoarder101 a little late to the party here but if you hadn’t noticed, there is a place to store the usb dongle inside the right hand grip.
Mother 3333333333333333???! How many Mother games do you think they'll make?!!
should have added a touch pad on that huge empty space on top of the keyboard, to give it that ps4 controller style.
why?
why?
I have a mini keyboard that have that exactly same USB piece it had a *touch pad* I'm using it on the ps4 to type faster on RUclips, Twitch, Crunchyroll etc.
but it works really well on the ps3 the most, though the universal mini keyboard I had have a directional pad too like those you see on a regular TV remote control... funny how it works on classic retro games like the Sega Mega Drive and Genesis Collection. but the keyboard don't works on any other games except for texting on online games like an MMO or to text messages to your friends or during a chat room.
Would be a fairly easy mod to get a bigger battery if someone wanted that, which is nice :) I'll pick one up when the switch gets more streaming services
I recently got a new game for switch “ telling lies” but i think its a port from pc ... lot of typing involved to really play the game... so i paused it till i got a keyboard... think now i might just get this one. Thx for the input z
Some question to people who owns it
1. Can you use the keyboard on PC?
2. I assume it can charge they joycons as well through the usb c?
They could have put a touchpad above the keyboard, just in case the Switch ever gets a web browser.
With RPG Maker and Mario Maker, this can be big in a niche sort of way
I think the keyboard takes power from the Joycon to use but the battery is there to allow you to use it without a Joycon? Not sure if you can test this and let us know if you read this
Someone needs to hack this keyboard up and attach it to pro controller grips, that way it can be screwed to it.
For anyone wondering, the "Aff Link" mentioned in Spawn's description for the Amazon keyboard link is short for "Affiliate Link", which means he makes money off of any sales that come from people clicking that link. He's supposed to fully disclose that fact clearly in the video and the description, but he seems to be against it. It's something to keep in mind that he stands to benefit financially from his "recommendations".
Who couldn't tell that means affiliate link?
@@dotwithshoesofficial Apparently enough people to warrant the Federal Trade Commission specifying in their guidelines that even labels of "Affiliate Link" are insufficient disclosure for general audiences.
@@Kentama People are idiots.
it would be cool if you could use amiibos on the big blank space
How do I get this thing to conect can you show that
Is it weird i see the size of the keybored being the same size of the switch mini all together (joy-cons included or rather fused)
By the way works in Rocket League to send messages to your team or everyone.
I wonder if this would be useful for Animal Crossing Switch.. :o
I have used this for a few months now. It does charge the joycons when it's plugged in.
How did you get it to WORK?!?!?!?!? LOL mine will NOT sync
@@revfunk8823 I think I had to press one of the lower left buttons twice to get it to sync. Either shift or control. Once I got it the first time it automatically connects when I turn it on. Don't forget the dongle. It's really easy to miss.

Chatpad for a system you can’t even message on...... don’t know if this or the wiispeak is more useful
SweetDangos I believe that some games have in-game chat now. System wide it's not hugely useful but there definitely are use cases for this right now.
I think Spawn wants Mother 3 on switch just a guess tho
Here's a prediction: Nintendo will make something similar that has a screen and utilitizes some sort of text software (example Google keyboard with autocorrect etc.) and an earphone jack, and bigger battery. Remember I said it first.
They didn’t do it.
Those buttons on that keyboard look really small, though
