- A follow up to my video about dwmblocks: • Shell scripting module...
Discussing why you'd want to patch, and how to do it, as well as the patch and diff commands.
Patches for dwm can be found here: dwm.suckless.org/patches/
Statuscmd patch (allowing clickable dwmblocks modules): dwm.suckless.org/patches/statuscmd/
I have used Arch for a while now and its nice to find a channel that is not hosted by a man with no hair but plenty of opinions! Subscribed
Haha thanks for watching and subbing! I appreciate it
thank you lady smith, may you never run out of videos
Lol I appreciate the comment! I'll attempt not to run out
really helpful video, I always wondered why I couldn't patch dwm and what all the errors meant
Glad it helped you out! :)
one of the important things i struggled with my config is patching, or say adding more and more patches. It would be cool, if you can make a video with bare bones dwm, then apply patches, which will break the config, and then fixing it. DWM scares people at this point, or else this is extremely cool manager.
Hey, yes patching can get more complicated once you add many patches - the basic strategy to apply a patch that fails is just reading through and carefully inserting/replacing code manually. I may make a video showing how to apply several 'conflicting' patches in the future :)
Thanks for watching and commenting!
also it's good to have the patches in a patches folder so you know what you added
True, good suggestion! On my actual build I do this haha
What patch are you using to show only active workspaces?
I'm using hide vacant tags: dwm.suckless.org/patches/hide_vacant_tags/
Thanks for watching and commenting!

Are you a male to female transgender?
