An hour long doc style list video to listen to on my overnight shift? Yes please!
I don't understand why we are still so shocked that ancient people were intelligent.
Lol I know. Like you realize they had geniuses back then to right? You realize they are human beings? If you really put your mind to something as a people it can be done.
I sleep to these! Love them
I completely enjoy this type of documentary! Thank you for the upload! Much appreciated!

I3?,?
The siege of Troy isn't a myth. The city itself has been found in Anatolia.
Even better, there wasn't just one city found, there were multiples cities! It's not like many cities side by side in a region, but multiple cities being made on top of each one with layers as the centuries went by. It's theorized the sixth or seventh construction of Troy is related to the approximate period of the Greek war. And there's some descriptions of Homer's writings that matches perfectly like the water canals underneath the city. Pretty incredible stuff.
@@definitelynosebreather yes. I think it goes up to Troy 11. I think Troy 6 or 7 is the Troy of 1270bc. They even found graves of kings and queens there right where the book of Troy said there were graves but the graves of the kings found are thought to be from about 2200bc.

The sun might rise a set between two stones at Stonehenge on the longest an shortest day of the year by our perspective. But if you believe in the science of plate tectonics, 5000 years ago the sun would have been rising and setting elsewhere on the stone circle. A centimeter a year would be 50 meters, if the movement was N/S it would make no difference, but E/W it would be completely different when built than it is today. And we are (British Isles) moving in an Easterly direction. Same applies to all these sort of places.
Thanks for uploading.

Regarding the transport of stone from Wales for Stonehenge, I have seen a recent video exploring this (sorry, I don't have a link) which reviewed another form of transport. They created a wooden sledge, and tested it with a 1 tonne stone, from recollection. They had 40 school children pull the stone on the sledge with two ropes attached to the sledge and they were able to move the stone with relative ease. There were no logs used underneath the sledge.
Does that still work with 40 tons? 70? More? Or you'd need giant trees, IDK. Anyway, in Egypt, for example, wood would be relatively hard to come by. Date palm trees would be needed for food, for example, I heard.
@@jojolafrite90 you mean TODAY in Egypt, wood would be hard to come by. When the pyramids were built it was a rainforest type climate.
An without a time machine. Every answer is at best a guess. So take a guess and be as correct as the experts

I hate how all these docos seem to teach ppl there were no signs of advanced technology. Ffs look at the structures .. that's a sign there was technology
Yeah I don’t understand it. They clearly had some understanding of things that we have no clue about now. I also don’t get why a lot of people look at people who lived back then like we are smarter or superior to them. We have the advantage of time and experience but they were people just like us that innovated and thrived
Goodnight everyone 😴
50 min commercials while I’m trying to listen and doze off.
On the shroud of Turin, as a Christian I do not believe for a second that it's the actual burial shroud of Christ, but even if it was, Christians do not worship objects. (That's one of many, _many,_ (so many) issues I have with the Roman Catholic Church, its doctrine, its practices and its irritating insistence on being categorized as a _Christian_ organization)
Why would you start at Karnak when there are ruins twice as old? Gobekli Tepe, Nan Madol, Saqsewaman, ETC.
I was hoping there'd be new mysteries that I haven't already seen detailed in 20 other documentaries.
Think this wonderful speaker maybe a lancastrian
Can’t believe there’s no mention of New Grange under this Heading , it’s as old as the majority of places mentioned on this piece
There was a 2nd Stonehenge discovered.
At the deepest point of the Sea of Galilee in Israel they recently discovered that there is a Twin of Stonehenge with even Bigger stones.
1st Question is how long ago was the Sea of Galilee dry?
Right before the end of the little dryas ice age. 11,600 plus ➕ years ago. Check Graham Hancock and Randall carlesons work. You'll find your answers
It is not a twin of Stonehenge. It is a giant cone shaped pile of basalt boulders and cobbles resembling a giant cairn. I don't know where you got that the stones there are bigger than at Stonehenge. The biggest ones measure about 3 feet compared to 30 feet at Stonehenge. There are theories that the Sea is artificial and sand deposits around the structure date it to about 6000 years ago. It is an interesting feature for sure.
@@mindshotjon You are so smart. Thanks
I think Stonehenge was a religious meeting place sort of like an ancient church and they had strong ties to the celestial skies bringing them closer to God.
Ok - visuals are not bright - earth rising on earth is kind of goofy. But otherwise relaxing and pleasant. Nice narrator.
Not very informative but quite lovely all the same. Pleasantly predictable. A nice ramble for late night listening. Really quite nice. Really enjoyed it.
Pretty good, though I’m not a huge fan of the race baiting style of reporting when it comes to the history of Mesoamerica.
I personally think it’s very important to really understand the fundamental meaning behind statements like “these civilizations didn’t have the means to build this kind of architecture.” It’s not in any way meant to be any kind of racial jab implying certain people of certain skin colors aren’t capable of being so advanced. It’s more like your math teacher docking points because you failed to show your work.
There is obvious evidence that the Maya, Inca, Aztec and Olmec peoples had a very sophisticated understanding of civilization, architecture and astrology. However, much of the reason we have no idea as to how they came to that point is because the records were deliberately and maliciously eradicate by conquistadors before we had any hopes of really learning anything from the indigenous peoples of that area.
If you actually pay attention to their oral traditions, as well as those from ancient Egypt, they speak of a time long ago when the monuments and pyramids were built, by god like men or in some cases literal gods, who then taught men that power. It is in no way racist to hypothesize that ancient civilizations in Africa and the Americas were given some sort of insight into how to reach such heights in civilization, as the physical evidence and verbal history of the region support such claims.
In closing, yeah it would be totally racist for someone to suggest that the only way for humans to achieve such advancements in civilization and academia is through the “European Method” or with European/Caucasian aid, but no one is actually saying that.
Yeah no one is saying that so why write a novel about racists and skin color. It's like I tell my grandson...if someone is talking about what color someone's skin is and "racists", they are usually the one with mental issues.
@@NeckNotes This is in direct response to the video my guy. @25:05 “However, the European discoverers of these impressive cities of the Mayans did not originally think the indigenous peoples they encountered were responsible for their construction…In this way, Early Atlantian theories were strained by a degree of racism and imperialism.” I’m not just bringing it up out of the blue, I’m making a comment on how I don’t appreciate how this information is being presented, especially with such a large audience.
Pretty sure we’re on the same side here too. I’d really rather not have these played out racy conversations on the internet, but statements like that which were made in the video only serve to disinform, which is a shame since I found most of the rest of the information provided as totally accurate and enjoyable.
And my bad if my comments are too long for you bud. It’s a nuanced topic, and these are incredibly important historical events we are talking about here.
It sucks that we’ll never know the truth about these structures.
We do know. People weren’t complete morons back in the day. They had geniuses as well. If you really put your mind to something it can be done. Just because they didn’t know what lightning was or practiced human sacrifices to appease whatever they believe is irrelevant.
It’s not aliens lol. These things are all around the world. So called unexplainable feats. You would think that they would come to the conclusion that ok they were smarter than we thought. It’s mind blowing.
So, Mystery of the shroud of Turin and ancient aliens built Stonehenge is where we're at? Ok, should be an entertaining good-night tale if nothing else
So, just, no time stamps at all on a 10 part hour long video? Best of luck with that.

It’s a medicine wheel.
The Stonehenge you see today was constructed in 1958. The original Stonehenge was disassembled, the stones carried off and the site excavated. The stones (supposedly) brought back. Holes were dug and the stone were set in place using cement. They didn't put things back the way it was originally. There is a video called " vintage early photos of Stonehenge", which were taken in the 1800's. The original Stonehenge looked like an ancient site and different than it looks now. What ancient man built is forever gone. What you see today is modern construction of how they "think" it used to look. Ancient man never built the Stonehenge you see today.
Doesnt matter if this or that stone stood here or there actually. Why should that matter? What counts is the megalithic structure as such.
@@lowersaxon It does matter. Ppl are passing off a new construction as ancient and that is fraud. You can take old wood, build a desk and sell it for a high price as antique, but it will be a new desk and a fraud.
@@lowersaxon and the original was aligned in a specific way for an effect during the equinoxes

You think in this gigantic of a universe that there are no other intelligent lifeforms?
@@jaysonraphaelmurdock8812
The probability of other life forms out there is not in dispute given the Drake Equation. However, for them to have traversed the infinitely vast expanses of interstellar space while being limited by the speed of light and having evolved to a sufficient degree of technological advancement to coincide perfectly with our civilizational dawn and to have given those earth civilizations a hand in building their megaliths without leaving a trace of their existence and then disappearing is a patently absurd and silly idea.
@@jaysonraphaelmurdock8812 and who is say the universe actually exists ?
Why top ten? Why not 11? Or 9? Is 10 sounds official? Or a marketing decision?
One does need to do r\their research on Mythology to not draw dumba** conclusions. Placing Arthur in the Roman period is correct, but if one does a bit of research Merlin (btw a later name of this character, I think this name came about I think by Sir Arthur Malory, or at least around his time.) was an amalgamation of at least 2 historical figures, whom neither have been seen as to actually have known Arthur, or even have met Arthur. (Arthur was a Roman soldier, and most likely a decurion, as he was allowed to carry and name his sword, where regular legionares used to carry spears.) Thus the mentioned legend of Merlin, roughly around 6 minutes into this video can be dismissed as a fairytale.
Aliens? Ugg no thanks nice try

I don’t claim to ‘know’ what stone henge or any other monoliths were built for. However, my instinct tells me that they were attempting to communicate with the sky. The sky’s were much closer and clearer then. I believe that what they could see was significant to them. Perhaps they could see more than planets and constellations because these are extraordinary lengths to go to, just to honour the shiny things in the sky!
Well yes definitely for sky reading, but mostly to celebrate the pagan mystery cults, all of them, different forms different times different gods but the same philosophy

The Mycenaeans start from 1500 BC ? That is immediately succeeding the Santorin Eruption of 1540 BC [ that is when they date the recovered pumice from ]. And so ended the Egyptian Intermediate Period and the advent of the Egyptian 18th Dynasty. The Mycenaeans in Greece and the Hittites in Anatolia.
