- Found a mullet in the closet! It’s another lost tape from the archives... At a small comedy club in 1991, Walter and I take the stage to try some new jokes before a Carson Tonight Show appearance; Walter wasn’t quite himself and I was rocking a mullet. Check out this lost tape from 27 years ago!

Unlike the other characters Walter seems to be the one who changed the least from the past to the present. I wasn't aware his job was creating greetings for cards. I always thought his job was complaining about everything. You're right though Jeff we all know someone like Walter hence why he resonates with everyone.

It's so interesting to hear and see how Jeff has made Walter's voice evolve over time! Here, it sounds like Walter's voice is a chest voice, whereas now, it sounds like it comes more from the head and nose. Today, it also sounds more distinctive (a bit higher) from Jeff's natual register. Does anyone else agree or disagree? 🙂

I remember the first time I saw you was your first appearance on the Johnny Carson Tonight Show. My grandmother and I enjoyed it.. and when Johnny invited you to the couch I knew you were going to be really big someday! I am glad you never gave up! Congratulations on all your well earned success! Getting to see you perform twice in person already has been a great thrill for me as well.
I expected Walter to look drastically different than he does now. Thankfully I was wrong.

I was 26 in 1991. I can so relate to Walter now too...he says a lot of the things that i can't say in public and to certain people. Things i can only whisper under my breath.... I also love to say" dumb ass" a lot especially when I see people doing stupid things . 😂

@@mostar1219 I saw that video and I thought it sucked. That character was awful and it wasn't funny. I actually gave that video a thumbs down. Achmed is much more entertaining and he has more personality and he's more likable.

Wonderful video, Jeff. Was happily surprised to see that Walter hasn't changed much over the years. Both in looks, as funny-factor. :)
The only thing that's really changes is his star power... he's moved from second-to-last to the opener, and was the only puppet who appeared alongside Jeff [billed by name, no less] when they guested on Scooby-Doo's show. I guess Achmed and Peanut were deemed too offensive, scary, and too intense for young viewers. On a steeeck.

What was interesting about that performance from 31 years ago now is that you have improved overall including the strength of your voice. ... of course it could be just a better microphone.
