    I’m in NE Dallas and we were right in the narrow band of totality, and it was dark as night for 4 minutes. A surreal experience for sure. It seems you may have been outside the immediate zone of experiencing this, so perhaps if there are stories of the bass reacting and going into a feeding mode, that these would be from people who were in the narrow band of full totality.
    Either way, awesome video and thanks for documenting it for us!

Just wish you had mic and did a lil running narrative of your thoughts as you worked those docks. Telling us which baits you were throwing and how you were working them. Even without catching fish that would be content worth watching. Maybe even some comments added during editing would have made this better. PLEASE do more on the water vids, they will get better the more you do.

He talks all these techniques but never really shows them work. It’s clear why some channels are bigger than his bc they actually capture them fishing and catching fish. Most of the time it’s Randy talking. I don’t get but hurt about the Livescope but I think there needs to be some type of regulation but, I’d still prefer a video with actual fishing compared to just talking.

    30 years ago we were fishing with reasonable luck then all of a sudden we started slamming 3 to 4 lb bass for about 45 min to an hour. Then it calmed down again. When we got back to town we found out that was the exact time of the eclipse. I forgot it was today and mowed the yard instead.

  • @LookIDrum
    @LookIDrum 9 месяцев назад +1

    I was fishing from 11am to 6:30pm EST today. Only action before the eclipse started was my glide bait getting followed by a school of bluegill. Now, I did start catching em when the eclipse started, BUT I also completely changed the area of the lake I was fishing, changed from spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and a ned to a texas rigged black w/blue fleck senko, with a 1/4OZ bullet weight, not pegged. Got in to 3 in that area. Change was mostly going from 7-8ft with stumps and rocks, to 3-5ft with clumps of vegetation. Got 3 in two hours in that area, my dad got 2. Eclipse came and went in that spot. Moved to EVEN SHALLOWER water, started casting and pitching around a heavier jig. Now back in 1-3ft of water. Punching through slop of decayed vegetation and sticks, around reeds and all kinds of stuff. Started absolutely slamming them. This was probably around 4ish est. Bite didnt turn off till around 6:15ish when we left. Saw a guy catch a nice one in some deeper water on the way back to the ramp though.
    Not really sure if the eclipse had much effect on them though. Hard to tell with all the variable changes. Water temps pretty much about 40-45, getting warmer the shallower we got. Nice 71 degree day, not a cloud in the sky.

    I know the fish lock up after an earthquake in the general region of a lake I went to years ago with a cousin. Dont remember the magnitude, but a sizable quake hit as we got on the road to get there. We saw some green flashes way off in the distance and wondered what that was. We didn’t know about the quake (didn’t feel it through the vehicle) until about an hour into the trip when we moved the radio from music to a news station, and they were going nuts about a quake right near a town we just started passing through. They said the time it hit and we were like “hey, that’s right when we got on the freeway!” We then figured those green flashes were power lines arcing.

    I went Bass fished during the eclipse yesterday as well, and man did it get cold once the sun was covered by the moon. It was a very weird day to say the least. I caught a 3lbr and a snapping turtle that must have been 30+ pounds. I thought the snapper was a huge Bass at first , but about 2 seconds after setting the hook I realized what it was and man was I really disappointed.. I hate catching snappers when Bassn' period, It took me about 15 mins to get my jig out of the turtles razor sharp jaws, he was a tough S>O>B. I caught the one Bass and the ugly dinosaur snapper in 2-3 ft of water as far as I could get back into a northern creek channel.. I found no adverse Bass behavior during the eclipse. FWIW
