I just bought a Livescope system last week. I've watched a hundred videos since then. This is the FIRST one that talked about getting correct alignment. But, you better be carefule....we gonna start thinking you know what your talking about! 🤣

Love how you actually are out there showing us instead of just talking about it while sitting on the boat. Keep it up DC
So a piece of tape with lines every 1/8” just above the bracket and a locating mark on the bracket itself can help tremendously with these adjustments. Just having a reference mark of any kind can make fine tuning this system so much easier.
I remember when the plastic worm, Berkley scent, fluorocarbon, now it forward facing sonar.
DC thank you for explaining the use of forward facing sonar, you just don't attach it to your trolling motor and go fill a limit! You still have to work on pin pointing the thing, then find the fish, then make them bite!!

DC Thanks so much for the sweet tip on spotting your lure hitting the water. I'm 65 and fish my fav ways first before I fish for suspended fish, so I only use active a little bit now and then. Love the info, man. Congrats on the little one. Blessings.

Hey DC Little tip/trick that’ll get you right is stick a level on your trolling motor head on the side and stick something under it to level it and then keep it like that then Stick a level on the side of the transducer and level em to where there the same and it will be perfectly aligned

Once you find the spot you like the most of your transducer, you should make location line marks with a paint pen so you can always see if it has moved or to make it easier to reset location

I always carry a red or white paint marker. If my ffs gets knocked around I just line it back up from the line I marked when it was money.
Saves me some time incase I bump it on timber or a dock 😂

That fish obsessed is legit, the only mount I've used that you can see your bait immediately when it hits the water. 1/16 crappie jig at 80 ft out. Only mount out there imo
Ok, just humour me for a minute.
I have 2 Lowrance units, so huge fan.
What I am seeing is with live target, if your fishing rough water with 2ft waves, the live target transducer is lifting and dropping with each wave so much, the picture is next to useless.
So, if the transducer was mounted on the transom say 1 ft lower than the keel on the gearbox, it would move up and down way less. This would have to involve a revolving unit that works in conjunction with your trolling motor, and the sounder unit would have to compensate for the length of your boat in its on screen information.
Given our small waterways here in Australia, generally rough conditions and high boat traffic, i really doubt active target would be worth my investment.
When you find a specific pattern, ie: certain water depth, temperature, structure and bait, then active target is really not essential IMO.
The art of reading your surroundings and computing the info into your days fishing seems to be extinct.
I didnt even have a GPS 8 years ago, did it old school.
When you adjusted the T/D itself did you slide it on short shaft towards T/M shaft in or out?
Did you get the updated mount for the quest from fish obsessed? Dont need to adjust it it comes pre cut for the angles on the quest. Mine was absolute dead nuts perfect when i put it on.
Dustin I’ve been setting up units for a long time son. You have to use a known target! Hang a bait from a floating buoy and back away from it.
I switched to a pole with my AT2, it's so much better. Dead accurate on most casts, I can quickly sweep 360 deg and tilt it up for Scout.

Active target has 18 deg cone so it's 3d on your screen just because u see it on screen doesn't mean it's center I think only way is to pull a string an square it up
It’s not easy getting dialed in on but when you do get ready. But then you still have to get the fish to eat and don’t under shoot the fish or over shoot. Then learning how to spot fish that will eat or not it’s a lot easier said then done.

Do you use a 0 degree mount
I do that with a buoy marker, they have a rope under them, make sure your TM is dead on it and then adjust.
