When I was an early teenager growing up in Florida and was only fishing on my allowance, Walmart was pretty much my ONLY source for fishing gear because the baitshops were WAY too expensive, so I was catching saltwater gamefish on Quantum medium action rigs and cheap monofilament. I didn't have the money for Penn rods and reels, so I was catching red snapper, mangrove snapper, yellowtail snapper, redfish, snook, sheepshead, angelfish (spadefish), gaffsailtop catfish, jack cravelle, and all kinds of good saltwater gamefish on a Quantum Snapshot reel on like a 6'6" medium Ugly Stik rod. My friends and I would go freshwater fishing too, but not as often.
I dug up the Zebco Stinger i got fur a gift cause of the last upload.. caught 3 Northern Pike so far on it and is the 6 lb test ice reel version... Still a smooth operator
Hey LoJo been with you a couple years now.. love the content keep that up. As for the closed lous reel. It is just like an old zebco 33. When you cast keep the thumb button depressed the whole cast. That holds the line catches all the way into the reel spool. Just pushing and releasing does work but line catches stay expose just a tiny bit. I kmow you aren't going to be using a whole lot of closed face reels 😂 but it is worth mentioning so might help young new anglers. Much respect and Thank You for Your Service!
You can always replace the treble hooks on lures. I do all the time it's saved me a lot of lures and money over the years specially on discontinued lures.
The way I see it,the bad ratings are just from people who can't catch fish😂😂 And I'll be honest,some of the reviews you will read regardless where it is,you can clearly tell who fishes and the people just trying to get free stuff... However,buying discount gear and bad rated gear is something I always love to do! I have found many amazing lures and equipment simply from trying them when they were disgraced...you might find the next hot lure by doing this!! Great video as always brother LoJo❤

any hooks off with pliers weakens them so much. Go find yourself a big catfish circle hook. After ur second fish. That hook will break off. Also easy to do it yourself too. Plenty of vids out there
That lews combo, what if you switch the line to braid or something alittle stronger then what’s in it from factory…sometimes line from factory is trash and doesn’t go with the combo.
Those proficiency products look like a joke but David Dudley uses them on tour. They seem to be pretty good. Also as a big swimbait user, the dangerous swim bait by bass mafia is superior to the mag draft but I’m talking 1A to 1B Also the hooks on the h20 baits, they are great they may not hold up but they hook everything because they are razor sharp. It seems like they are the same hooks used on the mega bass 110 out of the package.
That catfish bait is equivalent to dookie balls. 😂😂 stinks and I’ve never caught anything on them. Oh, and don’t let them spill in your car…takes forever to get the smell out! Agree with H2O baits. Change the split rings and hooks out and they are decent but the hooks will break on you quick. Great video and actually liking that $10 2’ combo to keep in the car when you see that roadside pond and want to know what’s in it! Wonder if those Gulp have a bad cold joint from a two color pour? The solid color seemed to do a lot better versus the chartreuse tail. Wouldn’t surprise me if there was a coke joint from the manufacturing process.
I've been getting into Proficiency stuff like the crazy and the mint pro. I like them can't complain about them can get in the fish you need to get out of the water. Worth everything penny don't care for combos rods. One will be cheep either way your getting good reel or a good rod but not both. Maybe not the expensive ones will be great for reel and rod. I'm the $150 down. Favorite is a nice reel for all day use. Ho does Favorite make reels for 🤫 G.
I seem to have my best luck with the white bass assassin fluck .. They look enough like a mullet for salt water and the long tail drives bass nuts,,in fresh and salt they look like egg stealers,,, keep your line wet and your knots tight.. peace lojo..
Profishency has some cheap trash, but their higher end stuff seems to be decent, Fishing With Smalls has even had them as video sponsors, and even used their baitcaster and it all worked pretty well.

That blue push button rod was absolute crap, I think that Lew's combo falls into that category as well. I do enjoy these videos for sure, like Temu gear, Amazon gear, so on and so forth, but if it were me I would've gone with all of the whackest spinning gear, not kid's rods. I get the reason for going with them, but if I'm watching these review videos I'd like to see more of the cheapest spinning combos (like something that an adult who's visiting the area and doesn't care about the longevity or true quality because they're planning to either give it away or throw it out at the end of their trip).
I replace stock split rings and hooks on a lot of my hard baits as soon as i get them out of package, especially walking baits, crankbaits, and jerkbaits. Guys, never use bottom hook swimbaits, they kill a lot of fish. Why did Googan start another lure and tackle company under a different name?

My buddy dangled line by hand with a hook and some power bait and caught 3 fish for 3 casts. To this day I never look at new gear the same way.
