Thanks for doing a costs video. I really find them interesting, not just cos I’m nosey🤥, but I’d like to do full time vanlife some day and, although some people don’t like talking about money, you need to be able to work out if you afford to live in a van. My only vice is tea, it’s all I drink. I even take a small camping stove in the back of the car to make a brew. Oh, and it has to be Yorkshire Tea (I’m not sponsored by them 😂).

And I agree, I think its good to know what kind of costs youre letting yourself in for. Before i did this I didn't have much of an idea how much it would cost to live this way, and I think I'm pretty frugal, I'm not into material things, which is good cos i don't have the room to carry stuff. As long as i have tea, a roof over my head, food in my belly and a warm blanket...oh and obviously Miss V :) I'm good 😊 All the best if you do decide to give van life a go, I'm happy to answer any questions if i can. I'm anotherTea Belly & one who has a stove, tea & milk in his car for brews 😊 I don't drink anything else, nor smoke. Currently looking at buying a replacement camper/motorhome, undecided which to go for & weighing up the fors/against of each. Your thoughts are appreciated 😊
@keepitreal1547 Tea Belly 😁. I think the biggest decision you make when choosing a van is whether you want to be able to get under car park barriers i.e. a fixed or elevating roof smaller van, or something larger. In my experience, you wouldn't want to spend long periods in a small van. Some people can manage it, but if you're planning on longer breaks, I would hire a small van and see how you cope before buying one. One thing you can do in all motorhome sizes is enjoy a cuppa tea 👍
I have been doing full van life now for 6 mths and my outgoings are 800 a mth,but getting cheaper as not moving around as much as i am in the summer, nice cozy nights with me doggy can't beat it,be good nice vlogs

@@Travellingrobbo They do apparently but I figured you can have issues with any dog. I was told by my vet to let her jump and climb, and stregthen her muscles cos that's good for her back... I've heard other people give different advice, like never let them climb stairs and jump but I'm going with what my vet said, only time will tell right. Cockerpoos are gorgeous, so much energy haven't they, that'll be the cocker in them. I was looking for a cavapoo originally but then I saw Violet advertised for rehoming and when I met her I couldn't say no, she was such a sweety and they were telling people she was ready to breed, and I couldn't leave her. I've had her spayed, there's enough dogs out there without homes.

Newbie subscriber here. Hi Cat, enjoyed your vlog of monthly outlay costs personal to your set up. Surprisingly lots of Vanlifers give a similar outlay figure based on Van already paid for circa £700 to £800 a month. Shocked at how steep your insurance costs you. Im guessing its cos you are still a young un and perhaps Rig is converted not as spec Coach built by r3ecognosed professional firm like say Autosleeper. Liked your background music, reminded me of a band ive always liked since early 2000 called Zero 7. Anyway enjoy your freedom and adventures and look forward to next vlog.

I've had vans/ motorhomes for a while now. It was converted when the van was built by a company called Timberland, but the insurance compnies don't seem to recognise that for some reason. Who knows what their issues are 🤷 I wish it was cheaper, it was when it was on recreational use only. How do you go about finding places to park over night? Please Will be wanting to do the same in an upcoming camper/motorhome purchase. Prefer off the beaten track/nature if possible, otherwise anywhere recommended 😊
@@keepitreal1547 For me, its a combination of things, driving around and coming across a good spot, I rarely look at google maps, but I have done and I look for bodies of water, large fieles or country parks which usually have somewhere nearby if theres not a free carpark. Last night I stayed on the road leading to an industrial estate, and I have a view over fields and hills. I was tired, I didnt know the area but I just happened upon a pretty nice spot. I love nature but not every spot I stay at is where I would chose. I've parked on housing estates, and main roads but never in the line of sight of someones front door/ personal space. I use Adrian flux for my van insuranse because I couldn't get insured by any other broker. They specialise in campervans and classic cars that are difficult for other insurers to put a price on. Hope this helps.
Just to make the figures a bit more accurate, you need to either work on 13 x 4 week intervals in a year, or a month is equivalent to 4 and a third weeks. Good to know what the costs are.
Chelmsford not bad place to live I’ve lived there all my life I do have a van but unfortunately I have a four bedroom detached house that I’m renting which is not ideal. Love the video big respect to you..x

I am a similar amount too fuel is the most for me as its important to move on in your van not to be seen in the same place. If you stay in the same place you may as well be in a house ! Safe fill are good but trying to find a place to refill is getting harder and harder. Still glad I bought it about 3 years ago so it has paid for itself. Just refilled it yesterday. The station hadn't had LPG for nearly 6 months.
Talking about Revolution , I use those quite a lot but the detergent and softer never seem good enough so I chuck in 2 or 3 of those little capsules. Do you do the same or shouldn’t we say ? Shh 🤫
@@simon-k7m 😂 I've done washing in those with and without extra detergent, and I think it depends on when the dispensers were last filled, I've had good and bad experiences, clothes coming out smelling great but on the odd occasion not so much...

There are lots of ways you can reduce costs. Like using kerosene at 67p per litre in a cheap diesel heater. Free alternatives to netflix etc but still same content
How do you only spend £140 a month on food? Mine is coming out at £400 just for me. I could probably reduce to £300. This is living in a caravan on my own. Any tips please, apart from don’t eat as much lol.

my uncle has Miniature Dachshunds he showed me the best method for stopping unexpected puppies ,,he puts the bitch at the top of the stairs and the male dog at the bottom , i asked how that helped , 😂he said have you ever seen one of those tryimg to climb stairs with a hard on 😂
