- In this video we discuss our experience using the Tactacam FTS scope camera that we've used over the past 4 years. The Tactacam is a budget friendly scope camera that we have used to film all our hunts and reviews over this 4 years. This FTS camera system has proven to be durable, easy to use and unintrusive to how we shoulder and carry our rifle. It's no mystery why we have chosen to use Tactacam for all our filming in the rugged wilderness environments we visit. #scopecam #tacatacam

I've been busy lately. But I'm still catching up. Thanks brother for your excellent review. 🎯👍
This is the type of review that actually has real worth - a product put to work and worked hard over a long time. Great video Dana, and thanks for the extra effort you put into your videos man 😎
Drew
Thanks Drew, yeah I'm not much into unboxing videos haha 😂
It is a serious commitment to get the quality level of FTS footage you do! A good scope with excellent light transmission is essential because the mirror in the FTS splits the light in 1/2. Half to your eye and half to the camera. I'm still waiting of a good optical scope with an internal camera :)
Thank you for the Review Dana 👍. I'll probably pick one up in the near future. Cheers 🙏🇨🇦.
I had one; mine worked great on my Hawke Frontier but never did well with other scopes. It was fun, but I tossed it for a more relaxed hunt. One less thing to mess with & distract from the real reason I was out there. I am just recording my outings in my memory like I used to. But I do enjoy watching good fair chase hunts. Your videos are easy to watch & like that your hunts are not out your bedroom window, you actually wear boots out.
Great review Dana. I have been wondering about the Tactacam system and why I see such different image quality from different content creators. Thanks for the heads up.
I've had mine even longer and it did take a bit of time to get the best out of it. I found that the image was too small on my cell phone to get the focus correct, so I bought a cheap 10" notepad to use with it, and it was a major improvement. I'm actually on my 2nd camera and they now have 4K capability. Just to add, Tactacam's customer service has been exceptional.
Good review, if you do talk to them about changes see if perhaps they could adopt a battery like the 18650 or ever 18500. I always have those for flashlights and stuff when camping.
Those batteries would be far to big making the unit to large.
Hey I noticed that creek is running hard. Do you ever gold pan.? That might even be a dry wash with all the snow I hear you guys getting. Take care
I have in the past, you can find some just takes to much time.
@@MountainSportAirguns I hear you I live in the Black Hills we just had a big snow been thinking to head out and give it a try. Figured you would have tried that to. As always take care and I always look forward to your reviews. Oh got to hangout with my family nothing better than LoL. My great grandson was a wild man 😀😀 today hahaha
Great video, you mentioned a diopter is that some thing that would act like an eye relief. Because A Camera has perfect vision. So I’m guessing that if you correct for your eye that it screws up the camera!? Man I apologize it was really hard to put that into words.
Thanks 🙏
A diopter allows you to adjust between the scope and the camera without change to what you see through the scope. As of now you are limited using the eye relief adjustment so it won't ever be perfect both ways...it rather looks great in the camera and blurry through the scope or vise versa.
Thanks brother that was the quickest response I’ve ever had from a RUclipsr!
Thanks 🙏
I had a horrible experience with 2 fts units with the solo extreme even Tactacam said it was a issue when returned so I went a different direction. I wonder if they had a bad batch. Many people have a great experience however the trigger cam is much better eye reif is very good and if you wear glasses you set your scope diopter to your eye then the cam is focused to your settings. But it’s a higher cost. I had high hopes even was on the Tactacam team. Honestly after 2 fts it looks like it was a issue with the solo extreme so if I did it over I would look for older 5.0
I have reached out to Trigger Cam with no response unfortunately. I will say Tactacam customer service is above what I've seen with many outdoor brands.
@@MountainSportAirguns they did take care of me in the end and even apologized and sent a complimentary Tactacam 6.0 I think there was a lot of miscommunication on their end between rma and customer service but the execs stepped up and took care of it in the end so I will say it got handled. I really did have high hopes. I think if they add a focus wheel like on trigger cam they will have a killer product. Also they need a 6.0 adapter as well
has anyone had the same experience as i have that when you are at your last 5 to 10 minutes of shooting light the tactacam 5.0 does not give me a actual video just a black video when camera is mounted without using a FTS unit Does using a FTS allow you to record right up to last schooling light as I am able to view through my scope right up to last shooting light
It's not a night vision unit, small cameras have small sensors and cannot collect enough light. These are not ideal at all for low light conditions, it's just the nature of them.
Dose the mount and camera take recoil of 308 rifle?
I don't use this on center-fire rifles, ask them.
Which one model you are using and how we contact you.
5.0 with FTS, contact information is on our website.
Dana this is to the side. Why aren’t you on AGN anymore?
When certain products are disallowed of being advertised and post start getting removed it's time to jump ship. Forums have become far to commercialized, especially with paid posters pretending to be end users. I wish them all the best, it's just not for me.
