Thanks for your video.I bought the shotkam 4 for dove hunting on September 1st. It only worked for me for 3 days and then it broke. All lights start been flashed red, yellow, green, blue.I return the shotkam gen 4 back to the company and they refund my money. I cant trust shotkam again for 3 reasons.First the company manipulate all customers comments and second a lot of people have many issues with shotkam like me and 3rd is overprice...dosnt worth. But the good point for them is tge customer servise...is super great.
Man, thats crazy. Mine has worked really well so far. I haven't had any issues. I guess time will tell if it works or not. Glad that they were able to refund you. And I agree that it is over priced. Significantly overpriced. I'm sure they do manipulate the comments but I think all companies do that now. I don't read reviews on their own websites for any product. I always go to the forums or online opinion. Hopefully with the money you got back you can buy the tacticam and all the batteries and accessories you'll need with the refunded money.
Great and complete video! I just didn’t understand if the tactacam is always recording but then just keeps yous shots on clips or it does a full video for the time it’s recording. Thank you
I would agree that the video quality on the shot kam seems to be quite a bit nicer. I think that the tactacam features are nicer and it definitely has a more robust software with a better app.
Alright, so I read this, and looked into it. Unfortunately the solo Xtreme also has the 2.5 hour removable battery according to the user manual. It's on page 5. tactacam.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/article_attachments/16635166577051/Solo_Xtreme_MAN-v2.pdf. It seems like another even more affordable option though if you don't care about the 4k or the 2.5k as it films in hd 1080p and it's only 199.99!
A frw things you missed in this video. The Tactcam 6.0 has a shotgun mode for waterfowl. It is in standby mode and activates when you shoot and records back at whatever time limit you set it at. You can move the red dot on the 6.0 also. Your video was good, but i would learn all the features of the cameras before you do an actual review.
Yep. I've covered that in a comment reply already. You're correct though. It can be adjusted. It just sucks to adjust it. The standby mode is an option. But I stand by my review. You would think it tacticam wanted to advertise the better camera they would tout these two things. Which they do not. I read through the entire user manual for that tactacam 6.0 and the shotgun mode isn't even described in the manual. It's not an issue of doing my research it's a failure on tactacams part to actually let you know what modes they have.
@@vencent14 it's the mode you would use for waterfowl hunting. It's constantly on and when you shoot it goes back and records up to the time limit you set.
That's what the retail for now. You can probably get them cheaper on Black Friday or certain sales throughout the year. I have not seen the gen 4 that cheap ever. So you got quite the deal
I bought the gen 3 and they sent me a gen 4 instead on black Friday deals last year. It's been put through the ringer for the last year and have had 0 issues! Love it!
I just picked up a Shotkam gen 4 and took it upland hunting last weekend. IMO it is a cheap Chinese not quite 4K camera from 6 years ago put into a nice slick US made aluminum body sold at an inflated price because it is in a narrow niche with little real competition. After one outing and 16 saved clips more then half did not save correctly. Only 7 saved correctly 3 seconds prior to firing. The rest saved between ranges of 1.5 seconds prior to completely after the shot to the file being corrupted out right. The image quality is atrocious for the price point this thing comes in at. The color profile is terrible and cold. It crushes darks. Gets blown out as you sweep into bright areas. So it can't handle real world brightness changes. Even the sky in this video appears purple. Has no internal camera adjustment setting other then the pixel and framerate options shown here. I'm emailing their customer support in regards to the saving clips late but am leaning on seeing if I can just return it. The image inst good enough for videos IMO so it's just a training tool. In that case why not just spend less for the older gen? Good video and comparison but for anybody watching this keep in mind that real world hunting use is going to vary greatly in lighting compared to shooting clays on a sunny day.
That's an interesting opinion. I have made several videos with my shotkam and reels and I think the videos are outstanding and the quality is unmatched. This may sound harsh, but there is a learning curve to the camera. If you don't set it up sensitive for the slap awake it's going to miss shots. And even then I still have it miss. And it's not because the camera it's because I didn't smack the butt of the gun first. The issue your having is because your swinging it up without triggering the camera and the recoil is what is starting the recording so you are missing the shots. I can't say to the color issues, but mine looks really great. I would say to check out my videos and reels. They always come out really clean.
@@final_fall Checking out your vids I don't think the quality is particularly great. I think you may be comparing the image quality to other gun cameras and not small compact cameras in general. Also looking at your vids I think the difference in what is being hunted could factor into the different results. Waterfowl is going to be easier to predict when you need to tap the gun cause you can see birds coming in as opposed to upland where I'm tapping when I see the dog go on point of get birds but have much less of an idea of when and where the birds may or may not flush. I'm thinking the 30 second time it goes to sleep might not be enough for the style of hunting I first tried it on. There's only 20 and 30 second options and 5 minutes which is too long. It may be the best working and looking gun cam available right now but that doesn't mean it's good. Glad your happy with it but I don't think the lack of quality, reliability, and customization is acceptable at the price point they charge. Right now I'm leaning toward seeing if I can return it and get some sort of 360 cam that can be placed out in a spread or on the dog etc for more perspectives. If I want a training tool maybe I'll just get the older generation.
@TheRoamingHazard well, I guess you have a higher standard on what you need. I use a 360 camera all the time, and I can tell you right now, if you're disappointed in the quality of the shotkam you'll hate a 360 camera. Stretch 5.7k over an entire sphere and you get a little less than 1080p. Not only that, the files are absolutely massive, everything seems farther away then it is because of the lenses. And if you zoom in you lose even more quality. Maybe, you're expectations are too high.
@TheRoamingHazard the latest insta360 one rs modular camera. It is just one model older than the newest insta 360 one x or whatever it's called. But I wanted the modular one specifically
That is true. And it applies to first responders as well. So does tactacam. I was able to buy my shotkam using the first responder discount as a paramedic. Both tactacam and shotkam have substantial discounts for military, LE, fire and EMS. Thanks for mentioning that!
A few things… Tactacam has adjustable red dot. It has the ability to save only the min before and after recoil if you use “shotgun” mode. With the $400 saved buying the Tactacam I could buy 20 spare batteries waiting to swap them out if need to. The 2.5 hour battery life is if the camera is running constantly. Using the remote to turn it on/off during the hunt it’ll last all day. The shotkam is a fine camera. Not knocking it. But I don’t see the built in sd card or battery as a positive. Good video. Just my 2 cents.
You are correct. The red dot is adjustable. I learned that after I had made the video. So that's my fault. I will say that adjusting the red dot to your point of impact as not as easy though. On the tacticam you have to look at the screen and adjust it on the phone. And with the camera under the shotgun, making sure the gun doesn't move and adjusting the dot with the phone, watching it in tactical screen and keeping the gun in the same spot is challenging. It Is not as easy as the shotkam. The shotkam you adjust right on the phone screen showing exactly where it's pointing. I'm terms of battery life, you can buy that many batteries, thars true. But swapping batteries is more burdensome. It's more gear to carry, something to lose, and each time you do need to change the battery, you are breaking the waterproof seal which is not as condusive when you're hunting in water or with weather. And, for my personal hunting, a shake awake feature is so so so nice. Not having to hit a button and worry about my camera is good for me. As I'm already running my other camera, my dog, and calling. The last thing I need to do is hit another button and then hoping the shots happen before it auto times out and shuts off and then have to hit the button again. Also, it records no matter what on the tactacam. That can potentially cause you to have to weed through more and longer footage for your shots. Where shotkam only saves the recorded footage if it senses recoil. So it makes it clean and easier to work with. The shotkam is just significantly more convenient to use in several different ways. The price point is too high. I agree. But I guess I was willing to pay that to not have to worry nearly as much as I would with the tactacam. I really appreciate your comment.
