In this episode, we share our personal struggle with physical intimacy in the first 4 years of our marriage. We thought we had done everything right by saving our selves for marriage and believed God owned us a good healthy physical intimacy. But that was not how our marriage story began. In fact, we couldn't have intercourse for over 4 years. Listen and see how God used this trial to draw us closer to Himself and to each other. This part of our marriage story is also where our marriage ministry was born.

When you talked about The Lord Jesus praying in the garden I lost it & wept! My husband & I have been married 12 yrs. We have struggled with intimacy for many reasons & that's why I felt led to listen to this video. But just before I watched my husband & i had been arguing about submission & love in marriage, which has been an ongoing struggle. I sought the Lord in prayer & the Spirit reminded me of Jesus' prayer in the garden & how He begged for the cup to be taken from Him. He told His disciples that His soul was very sorrowful, even to death. It says He was in agony while He prayed so earnestly His sweat became like great drops of blood falling to the ground. Yet He submitted out of obedience & love to the will of God. He calls us to count the cost & take up our cross & follow Him. He calls us to suffer. Then He rewards us for it. He reminded me that His will for me is impossible for me, but not for Him through me. And He will reward me when I submit to Him in obedience.🙏❤️🙌 Thank you & praise the Lord Jesus! Your video was confirmation of the Spirit's reminder to me that I am His & what He has called me to.❤️

I think a lot of couple nowadays struggle to distinguish between lust and love. Whereas lust is rooted in selfishness, love is founded in selflessness. Love motivates us to have deep feelings of compassion, empathy and emotional connection with those we care about. While lust, we neglect important relationships and abandon our own emotional and physical health because we are solely focused on satisfying our own cravings.
‘Learning how to be lovers for the rest of our lives.’ Amen.

Wow! This video has encouraged me to work on my diet. I have struggled with eczema for the longest time knowing it's my diet. Now I know I need to be intentional with what meals I buy and make for myself and my family. Your testimony is quite encouraging in more ways than just the title.

I have been suffering marital sexual issues since the beginning of my marriage. It’s really difficult and I feel distressed, unfortunately I don’t see that my husband is willing to improve our intimacy. We are not doing a good job . every time i hear this/read this... when you finally get to the part where you finally could.... i tear up/cry! :) every time!! its just so amazing. how many times can i hear this story and still cry?? :)
ive had progesterone problems, which is likely the same thing. we had so much trouble getting pregnant with #2. and we only got pregnant after a progesterone shot. i dont know how/why we were able to get pregnant without trying for #3 and #4... :P but maybe that whole process, and changing soaps and stuff too... has kinda helped. the numbers dont show that, but theres discussion about how the blood test doesnt show it right anyway. right now im using bio identical progesterone cream through this pregnancy instead of the suppository i had to use last time from the doctor. anyway. yeah. its a big deal. dr john lee wrote books on hormones and stuff, and we're talking about solving, healing, preventing HUGE things like CANCER, just by using progesterone and balancing out what the environment (full of estrogen like substances) is doing to our bodies. and this even applies to MEN. men with testicular problems had improvements with progesterone creams. yes yes.

Thank you so much for sharing your story more in depth! God works in such mysterious ways. I struggled with painful intercourse with my husband for our entire first year of marriage, and same thing all doctors told me that physically and according to my blood work, I’m totally healthy. We were both struggling with the same feelings of God “owing” us a fulfilled marriage because we remained pure and practiced abstinence until marriage.
During our first year of marriage I also had a spontaneous miscarriage, and that inspired in me to get rid of anything non-organic that I’m putting on or in my body.
Within a month we had our experience of first pain-free intercourse within our marriage!!! God is so good. Thank you for sharing so that others may have benefit from your story in similar ways. God bless you and your marriage, family, and ministry!!!

Honestly this is why I am really careful to define what “purity” means.
I will not allow religion to cause me or my husband sexual trauma.

I am inspired that you guys stuck it out 4 years- this is one of the biggest things that pulled me to Christianity because I want marriage so bad, and it’s impossible in this era with Tinder and sociopathic dating (give everything and you most likely will lose the union) without God.
This is cool though-
I have alcoholism and food addiction and I’ve been sober for 3 years, and I’m recently vegan because cheese and meat can trigger my binge behaviors (cheese is addicting).
I can’t do anything that makes me a slave, and I’m grateful God fights for our freedom. It’s just the path can be scarier than the path we’d choose for ourselves-
But maybe we can’t see what we actually need to clean out in ourselves

This subject has been a constant battle literally since day one. I am at the end of my rope, and not seeing any reason for hope for the future. The part of marriage that should be the most intimate and special has been a battlefield, and I don't have any energy left to keep fighting.

You two are very brave to share about the experiences of problems with sexual intimacy and the joys of overcoming it God's way.
As with masturbation, sexual fantasy and other misuse of the sexual drive, it is a very difficult topic. I really appreciate what you said about, " Marriage doesn't fix sin. "
Purity is for life, all seasons. Married or not. There is no way another person can fulfil all our desires, especially those that are sinful.
Those expections can led to disappointment and seeking other persons outside the marriage, and other things that destroy the marriage.
I love that you testify of the process of practicing intimacy in marriage. You have time. The rest of your life to practice.
It is an investment. Learning another person takes a life time.
Intimacy is hard work worth doing. The alternatives, like masterbation and porn, are quick easy and require no risk. They are satans tools to keep people from experiencing the joy of the Lord while having union.
I think because it's so much easier to please our selves, we can get addicted to that instead of the hard work of communication on a vulerable level like nothing else.
I think God is pleased when we use our bodies the way intended.
God has used this to draw you closer to Him and to each other. Thanks for your honesty and pointing to Jesus, asking for Holy Spirit to help.

I also liked how you talked about how cranky people can get when they are not able to release with each other sexually. It's part of marriage to have a intimacy rhythm that feels good to both.
Sometimes you just need each other, that deep bonding and release.
I had some issues with major menstruation bleeding that created that for us.
Here is another topic people hate to discuss..Perimenopause..it's a hormonal roller coaster ride..it eventually shifted as I get closer to my period stopping. Now, I never know if or when my period will come. That's a whole other adventure...
We, like you both, leaned on the Lord for patience and Grace.
It's , yes, a serving, rather than a getting ..designed to help us be more like Christ. A sacrament- there is so much joy and pleasure to be found in two people serving each other.

It’s a medical condition called Vaginismus. I’m surprised your gynaecologist (assuming you let them examine you with their fingers) would be able to diagnose. Otherwise it sounds like years of trauma, being told sex is a sin and her body automatically closing down. Shame hurts us in so many ways. I’m truly sorry you had to go through this and if you have children treat them to love their bodies so they have a positive relationship with themselves and through marriage.

@@geager2 I had the condition when I was super turned on by my boyfriend. It was horrible but my gynaecologist gave me excercises to get back to normal. Brought my fiancé to the appointments so he understood it wasn’t him. I’ve always loved sex so it was a terrible time.

Thank you for this. I am a wife struggling with my husband not being able to make love with me without looking at pornographic images first. It really hit me when you said "I can love and serve my wife even if I don't get from her what I think I deserve," I need to think this way toward my husband. It's been a difficult 3 1/2 of marriage because sex hasn't come easy for us. We're trying to get pregnant and when I found some Instagram accounts my husband has looked at from his search history, he did admit to looking at them and said he does so when he knows we should be having more frequent sex during my fertile window. Ouch. It's a hard thing to hear, and it makes me not want to be intimate with him.
How is a hurt wife supposed to respond to this and be OK with intimacy with her husband? I am insecure now that I know he "needs" those images to arouse him enough to have sex with me, his wife.

I am at my breaking point in my marriage. My husband blames his physical problems on the lack of intimacy or affection in our marriage.
My consummation was equally painful for me also for the first few months. My priest insisted on us having daily intercourse until it became easier. Then after that point, my husband slid quickly into refusing me and we would go for weeks and sometimes months without sex. He was addicted to porn and lying about it. He struggled with porn for about 10 years of the marriage. 12 years into the marriage he developed impotence and other medical problems. We have not been intimate in 3 years and he is not affectionate towards me anymore. He blames his lack of affection, emotional and physical intimacy on his heart trouble and impotence. We have been married for 15 years, but I don't know how to survive even 5 more let alone 20 or 30 more years. I have gotten to the point where I hate my marriage.
I'm incredibly sorry to hear that. Please do not give up on your marriage, and your husband. There is always hope, but it will not be instant, but it IS there. I would definitely recommend both speaking to a truly solid priest for counseling. Some priests just may be more helpful than others. If he refuses counseling then pray a rosary every day to open your heart and his heart. Every day. This will take a while but he will come around. Start a devotion to a Saint in troubled marriages. Or Our Lady of Sorrows. I love her.
Speaking as a husband, I understand how he got to where he is-- but that doesn't mean he's blameless. Asking for sex with your wife is the most vulnerable a man will ever be and if the wife (even though she may have pain) consistently is hesitant and puts it off, or even often times replies "not really but if you want to" it absolutely crushes him internally. This happens even if the wife has pain during intercourse so she has an aversion.
I don't know the cause of your pain so I can't even guess. But that's how he got there. HOWEVER he only got there because he let his heart suffer and bore that within and let it fester. He's only human and so are you. You do have a journey in front of you but there is 100% a light at the end of the tunnel even if you don't believe me.

I'm 2 years into my marriage and we've been unable to consummate ours but I believe we will! Also, look up Invicta ministries in Florida. They help do deliverance for couples and I just got in touch with them for us to get help. Please don't give up! Jesus loves you and is with you and for you! Praying for you sister
