It's not rocket science. She has vocal nodules so that in combination with the extremely dry climate of Vegas is not the best outcome. 2015 was the year of her figuring out her new vocal technique and getting accustomed to the stage again. The way she slayed in 2016 is proof of that.

k kade she does it because her runs aren’t as agile anymore, so it’s easier for her to draw out her notes so she can hit the runs more slowly so not to get pitchy. It’s something I have to do when I’m belting at a time when my voice isn’t feeling it’s normal self. It’s a smart tactic.
