German medieval folk metal force FEUERSCHWANZ just entered the Official German Album Charts on #1. Now, they already releasing their next video - the cover version of O-Zone’s 2004 summer hit “Dragostea Din Tei”, taken from the Memento Mori Bonus album, Die Glorreichen Sieben.

Ok, I'm romanian and I'm actually shocked of how good is their pronunciation! You can tell their not native Romanian speakers, they had difficulties with only 2 words (which I won't even point out), but my god they worked hard to get it right, and it shows!
Plus, I like their stile and this version sounds great! I like as specially the parts with: "sunt iarasi eu, Picaso" and "uh... ah..."!

For a german band singing Romanian lyrics I can say they did a really awesome job. The pronunciation is really good, I think they worked hard for this.

Also Romanian, and agree this is a banger! The only thing is the way they pronounce "ochii tai"..it sounds like "ochii tei", but..there are some accents that sound like that, for example Moldovenii

@@ComputingCode I think that does make sense then. Aren't O-Zone from Moldova? That would explain the different pronounciation. I have no knowledge of the Romanian language, but given what you said in your comment I assume Moldovenii is the accent they have in Moldova.

One year after publishing this song, it reminds me of the most embarrassing moment of my career as medieval reenactor, when I was so busy setting up the camp after a several hours ride that I forgot i had my driving mirror shades on... and failed to notice it for six hours straight. Yes, I spent most of the day in full period garb and armor plus cool sunglasses. Dragonstea Din Tei moment indeed.

I don't know who you guys are but, being a Moldovan seeing "Dragostea din tei", I couldn't pass this video by. I enjoyed it very much, especially because you sang the original lyrics (the pronunciation of which, by the way, was really good).

I mean the band name kinda hints at where they're from-
Its a German medival band, which started with the goal, to make medical music a bit more fun, because Hauptmann Feuerschwanz ( which translates more or less to Captain firetail) thought that the medival community where to humorless and strict and overall less fun than one would expect.
Over the time, their music got more serious, with themes like life itself and something like this.
BUT! They are still a mostly funny band, less comedy in the maintheme, but still some pretty funny guys.

I don't even know what else to say other than this is absolutely fantastic. Another song I didn't ever think would work as folk metal, but performed and executed perfectly
I do believe it is, at its very original roots, a folk song. So really, from the moment folk metal is a thing, there's no reason for this not to work :) But yeah, after that, it's all about getting the idea to do it.
I didn't like it as much as their cover of square hammer, but that this song even exists is just... amazing. There are no words.

Moldova pe vremea lui Cuza și Kogălniceanu era un Principat prosper, cu țărani harnici și boieri care nu își vindeau țara Înaltei Porți asa cum făceau boierii munteni niște looseri și depravati! Când s-au văzut fără nicio scăpare,când foametea din Muntenia a ajuns maximă, au cerșit Unirea cu Moldova, milogindu-se de boierii de aici să se unească, dar tot sub suzeranitate turcă! Din acel moment tragic, Moldova începe încet, încet sa decadă și sa saraceasca ptc noii boieri vasali turcilor de la noua Capitală București acaparau toată avuția muncită în Moldova, exact cum se întâmplă și acum după 32 de ani de la Revoluție! Și să nu uităm că în Primul Război Mondial, singurul pământ neocupat de armata germană era Moldova! Regele Ferdinand împreună cu Regina Maria, împreună cu guvernul din acea vreme s-au refugiat la Iași, de unde au organizat marea contraofensiva de la Mărăști, Mărășești și Oituz, datorita ajutorului primit de la francezi în frunte cu Gen. @@thomasfarmer3467 it's surprisingly good. I can say that Ben nailed it, got the pronunciation better than Hauptmann, however both of them are 10 classes over the "Romanian" that comes out of Hollywood, either in movies or various tv series.
The funny part, is that, at least to my ear, Hauptmann sounds closer to the original, as the guys singing it were Moldavians and their accent really gets through in the original. :)

man, this takes me back. reminds me of this time me and a few friends went to this 4th of july fireworks display and afterwards the whole town was one big traffic jam so to lighten the mood of those around us we cranked the original version of this song (this was the height of the numa numa dance craze) from our car and just started going as crazy as you guys went in this video. the people in other cars and people just sitting in their front lawns of houses we were stopped in front of all started joining in, doing the numa numa dance. it was the best thing ever.

Even if I'm a heavy metal fan, 20 years ago I couldn't help but listening over and over again "Dragostea din tei". Your version gave me one of a hell thrill. You solved my 20 years ago dilemma. It turns out that what is beautiful doesn't necessarily have to fit a specific genre. It's perfect no matter the musical arrangement. Now I'm looking forward to seeing you on a Romanian stage.
