Thank you for recommending quality mascaras that are affordable. I have purchased so many different mascaras from $10 to $60 and none of them provided the qualities that I wanted. Also, I appreciate you educating us on the different types of wands and other tools. I have always struggled with getting mascaras on my eyelids. That was an awesome tip. Finally, they eye drop/contact solution hack: AMAZING!! I never knew that. Thank you SO MUCH!
A little trick I use is use to save the wand from my mascara after it's done and before I throw it out. I just rinse it off and then I have a reusable plastic spoolie that has bristles that I like! :)
Same! I have a clean spolié from Dior Iconic and it is literally BOMB for separating clumps. It’s so crazy spiky. I can’t believe how much money I spent on high end mascara till I tried Lash Sensational. It is literally the BEST mascara on the planet!
I don't think I've ever related to a beauty youtuber as much as I do with you!! You speak my beauty language. Little things like using mascaras with plastic wands instead of natural, always having to put foundation on eyelids so that it all blends together- its silly things but I swear the more I watch you the more I feel like the beauty things I feel I only do make more sense. Thank you for being so genuine and comforting.
Thank you so much for introducing me to the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara. I have been searching for literally years for a mascara that would not smudge on me. I can't count how many I have tried. Finally, because of you, I have found the one. Absolutely no smudging. Thank you!!!
Literally no one brought up being Californian, which btw most have a general American accent unless you're from somewhere like Redondo Beach lol. No need to throw shade at one group to lift up another. A Southerner or a New Yorker would notice her accent too. Its ok to be self-aware! Being self-conscious is different.
I've been doing the opposite - using the natural brush mascara 1st then lengthening plastic bristle brush mascara 2nd - with mixed results. I'm excited to try it this way! The Lash Sensational is my favorite all-time mascara too!
If you are planning to use a skin-toned eyeshadow to set your eyes, you can skip the powder. I recommend this if your are more mature, the less powder products the better.

Maybelline Lash Sensational is by far my favorite mascara ever, regardless of price point. It does have a bit of a learning curve to figure out the best application method but it's worth the effort in my opinion.
If anyone's having trouble doing the blinking technique, I do like a half blink when I do my mascara- like lean into the wand with your eyelid, if that makes sense. Been doing it for years and it helps keep a curl, too!
I tried this this morning and honestly had low expectations it would make much difference. Boy - was I wrong! My lashes are so much longer! Who knew blinking could make that big of a difference?!?
Great tips.. I would add 1 more tip as a makeup artist I ALWAYS ALWAYS Coat on to the top side of the eyelashes, it gives a thicker longer look to the lashes as well as well as faster also thickens your lash look while it uses less mascara 👍
Hi! OMG. It’s been 4 yrs since the last time I watched a makeup tutorial video, and I must say that I think I’m already in love with your content and channel! Very detailed and helpful 👏❤
Same here, I have short stick straight lashes similar to those with Asian decent that I hear complain about the same thing. But according to 23 and Me, I have less than 1% of any kind of Asian. It can happen to us all haha
@@tara5742 Tip for you, use a mascara that gives volume and has holding capability. Then after it's drying curl the lashes with your thumb, index finger like the way you separate your bottom lashes from upper ones firmly pressing the lashes upward. Cause this point if you use curler it may rip off lashes giving you L shape. Hope i was able to explain it to you
Eyeshadow primer works great to prevent mascara from running or transferring due to oily eyelids. Also you can keep and clean off an old mascara wand (once your done with the mascara) instead of buying disposable wands or wasting product. This also comes in handy when; you like the shape of a mascaras wand but don't like the formula, or the mascara is expensive and you don't want to repurchase, or you have a mascara that you don't love but don't want to waste. What makes a good mascara is 50% wand and 50% formula, but sometimes they don't come in the same mascara.
Absolutely. The straight, thin ones work for tiny edge lashes and bottom lashes but not the rest (where fuller, curved wands are better) so I use my spare regularly. Plus mascara gets "old" fast. It dries out but also gets contaminated easily because of the moisture. I hate throwing it all away though!
i tried this technique this morning and HOLY MOLY does it make a difference, I never knew why my lashes never looked good no matter what mascara i used - so thank you!!!! new subscriber! :)
Have you tried setting your eyes with just the eyeshadow? I also blink And turn the wand at same time, it really is a total game changer. Now we need an in-depth eyebrow tutorial!
Been doing the blink technique for over 20 yrs due to what I learned in college art courses, lol. BUT, 2 small changes. The first few blink-throughs (like 5) to get it on there I do at a normal pace. 2nd, I then put it on top of the lash and *slowly* open the eyes. I do this a few times just to cover all lashes. You can feel your lashes slowly pulling through the wand. Careful not to touch your eyelid (u get use to it, lol). You don't need to get right down to ur lid, we're just getting some volume built up top. I now refresh/redip for the last coat. Finally, the last few swipes I heat up the wand a bit with the hair dryer. I then blink through VERY SLOWLY and HOLD about 5 seconds each time at the BASE and then again at the END of the lash. Meaning, put the application at the very base of your lash, blink eeevver so slightly and HOLD IT (you feel that your lashes are being pulled/molded upward) then blink through to the end of ur lash and hold again (again, you should feel the curl molding there). This has the effect of giving a natural curl to the lash. I SUCKED at lash curlers and they always looked kinked and terrible. With this technique, it looks amazing. Even better if you put on lash primer first.
So helpful! Thanks!! Definitely going to try the blinking method. I realized as you said it that anytime I’ve had my make up professionally done that’s what the make up artist would have me do.. wow!
I actually keep an old cleaned mascara wand and fix clumps when applying mascara. Once I find a awesome brush I always keep. Thanks for the tips, I am so seriously going to try the blinking technique.
when my mascara looks like it getting a little dry I'll put it in a cup of warm/hot water for a couple of minutes it melts the wax and makes it easier to apply. I'm 58 and retired I only wear makeup about 3 x a week so no matter how tight I close the mascara it always seem to dry out. Thanks for the great videos

Really like the blinking technique I thought I was the only one who was ‘weird’ about mascara like that. A couple coats of lash sensational are way too much for me because it then clumps but a clean spoolie does the job. It’s definitely water proof though which is great but make sure you clean off any clumps or they’ll flake
The Lash Sensational I’ve been using for 7 years now and I hear nobody talk about it! I knew this was going to be a good video as soon as I heard you mention that :) I already knew most of the tips and tricks in the video but I have a few I’ve been doing that you did not mention. 1. You can use an earring (after you clean it of course) to separate clumps. Just be careful and don’t hurt your eye! 2. For old mascara, If you put the mascara in a glass of hot water, then some sort of lid overtop before you go to do your makeup, it helps as well. It traps the steam inside and helps to liquify it.
I can’t put mascara on without blinking each time. Everyone has always made fun of me for it, like sisters and close friends. I knew I was on to something!😂
Im going to start blinking! Thank you! Lancome Monsieur mascara is also my favorite, but full size is $28. It also comes in a travel size and about $12 at Ulta. Lasts as long as the full size. You'll find it in the travel size products section, not in the Lancome isle. It's the best!

Amazing tips....im new to your channel & I'm really enjoying it. Another good tip for old, dry mascara is to put it in a cup of boiling hot water for a couple of mins and it wets the formula for a few mins xx
When I was a teen/early 20s i kept the same mascara for like a year. I used that thing until it completely dried out not just got thick. It would actually be dry. I didn't know any better plus i was poor lol
OMG! This was amazing! Seriously can't wait to try it tomorrow! Thank you! What about curling the lashes? Mine stick straight out if I don't. Any special tips there? Thanks again!
Finally someone does 2 different mascaras as well...my friends give me crap about this all the time but to be fair mine look false cause they are so long so I need the dual wands. I will have to try the blinking method to see a difference though. I learned long ago not to look into a mirror to do my lashes but to look down into a mirror and slow blink and roll the wand up to ensure coating from root to tip. Great tips, as well as the waiting or the transfer to dry....GOLDEN RULE depending on the mascara it will flake right off, but I have some that wouldnt and had to almost rub my eyelid off to get the smudges. Great job doll!!

That is a big difference for sure, but I wonder if many people actually apply mascara the way she did on the non-blinking side. I think people usually wiggle the mascara horizontally to get a lot of mascara on the lashes and only then start combing it towards the ends and clearing the clumps.
@@debjudisch5548 Oh thank you for teaching me. I have been just wiggling all my life (yes, let's just ignore what happens after the wiggling) and wondered why there is so much product on my lashes and no length, no volume.

I always use a drop or two of something in my older mascaras. No one else uses them but me so to get an extra few weeks or a month out of a tube is a great hack. Lately I've been using a couple of drops of my generic Latisse. I figure you're applying the mascara to the base of your lashes, may as well get the benefits of the Latisse!! I never thought about using the one type of wand first then the natural one. I'll be giving this a shot tomorrow morning before work - thanks!!
I have been using this exact combo of mascaras forever (well since they came out😁) but I use the lash paradise first and then "comb out" with the maybelline, with the curve up just like you. I also do another "hack". I don't curl my lashes but in between coats I turn my blow dryer on cold high and blow them up. I wait to do my lower lashes until I'm done blow drying. I do 2 coats of loreal, dry in between each, then do my lower lashes with the loreal and finish my top with maybelline. Most people think I wear false lashes everyday. I have tried every drugstore and high end mascara under the sun and never found better than this combo and technique😊
Hi, great techniques and learnt a lot, I was just wondering if you have any advice on actually growing your lashes? Is lash serums any good, if so which ones? X

thank you for teaching us really useful hacks.blinking definitely makes such a difference.I tried to do all the things you said and it worked so well, eventhough I had to go through an additional step because I have straight lashes and I have to use eyelash curler before mascara. even the most curling and lifting formulas and wands can't do much lifting if I don't use a curler. and using a curler can rub off the concealer and eyeshadow(I also powder and then use a base eyeshadow to set my concealer.but still,my curler makes my concealer and eyeshadow transfer and ruins my liner).so now I'm a bit undecided about when to use my curler. but anyway I'm definitely going to use blinking method from now on
Hi Abbey! Love your videos. The only suggestions I have would be for mascara video to use less eyeliner. It makes it harder to see. Great video Abbey. I am a disaster when it comes to mascara! 🙋♀️Transfer queen. I will definitely giving this a try!!
When I was a teen/early 20s i kept the same mascara for like a year. I used that thing until it completely dried out not just got thick. It would actually be dry. I didn't know any better plus i was poor lol
I think alot of us did lol ,my three sisters and I had to share the same mascara and we used it until it was gone.
You are a god send! Can’t wait to try this. Also love how detailed you are - thanks girl !
Wow! I've been applying mascara with mediocre results for years, but not anymore... this video was so helpful!!
OH MY GOODNESS!! This just changes how my lashes look!! Thanks for the blinking tip. SO GOOD.
Do you have any sunscreen recommendations for swimming/ sweating? I’m a swimmer and a runner so that would really help! I love your videos, thank you!

Great tips! Going to try them out when I get ready for work in the morning!!
I would love to see a updated makeup collection. Going drawer by drawer.
That is a big difference for sure, but I wonder if many people actually apply mascara the way she did on the non-blinking side. I think people usually wiggle the mascara horizontally to get a lot of mascara on the lashes and only then start combing it towards the ends and clearing the clumps.
Wiggling the brush will give you more product on the lashes, but her technique is to get you great length as well as volume.
@@debjudisch5548 Oh thank you for teaching me. I have been just wiggling all my life (yes, let's just ignore what happens after the wiggling) and wondered why there is so much product on my lashes and no length, no volume.
Abbey, I watched this video last year and just came back to re-watch. These hacks are literally the best! When gurus apply their mascara I'm like "why are they not blinking!?!" 🤣🤣🤣
Love that you go straight to the point.

I’ve also found using two different mascaras and wand types seems to give a much fuller, lush look. However, the blinking technique is new. Thank you!
You're a genius for that eye drop trick
Hi, great techniques and learnt a lot, I was just wondering if you have any advice on actually growing your lashes? Is lash serums any good, if so which ones? X
Adore you and your content, Abbey! I'm a long-time aesthetician and your videos are so informative, accurate and well-presented with a side of humour. You can tell you are knowledgable and do your work researching, sorry to say, unlike most "beauty" RUclipsrs. I wish more people knew of your videos as you are waaaaayyyyyy under-rated, but I believe that will most definitely change. Let's get you up in the algorithm!!!
Hi! Do you think that thr lash sensational is gluten free? Im celiac and really want to try it out
@@belen1470 You should really call Maybelline to make sure. You don't want to take chances there.
@@wendigo1919 they just said to check the ingridients but I dont understand any of it, could you help me please because my mom doesnt let me buy makeup that isnt gluten free :(
@@belen1470 I'll have a look tomorrow. 😊
@@wendigo1919 thank you so much!
I do the same things you do with mascara. Lancome big and lash blowout by IT are my all time favorites. Do a review on lash blow out, promise you won't regret it!!
Also, lancome has an eyelash primer that will make ANY mascara look great!
Beautiful, I like blinking the lashes
Can't wait to try your blinking tip!
The blilnking hack is amazing! Thank you.
Abbey!! I just found your channel this morning and literally have binge watched your videos all day!! Please can you show your winged eyeliner technique. Would love to see a tutorial 💞
I 'm the happiest girl ever right now..I'm a blinker and a 2 type mascara user too !!!! I've tried doing it like the others just rolling the wand and I always end up blinking !! thank you so much for the best video ever 😊
Thanks for that tips ! It’s truly extraordinary the difference it makes. 😊
The blinking makes all the difference!! I used the Lash Paradise when I got married. I have very short, sparse eyelashes. My photographer was amazed after I applied my mascara! I didn't use false lashes, just the Lash Paradise. I also use the Loreal Lash primer.

I love your videos! I just found your channel and I decided to order the Maybelline mascara as I was watching it, it will arrive like in an hour so I can’t wait to try it! the results are stunning, I’m a sucker for new mascaras specially the ones you can find at any drugstore or market. Thank you for sharing your tips❤️❤️❤️
Amazing tips! My lashes always look like the ‘worse’ side and it drives me mad so I’m glad I have some new tips to try! Also I’m obsessed with that Maybelline mascara too xxx
thank you for teaching us really useful hacks.blinking definitely makes such a difference.I tried to do all the things you said and it worked so well, eventhough I had to go through an additional step because I have straight lashes and I have to use eyelash curler before mascara. even the most curling and lifting formulas and wands can't do much lifting if I don't use a curler. and using a curler can rub off the concealer and eyeshadow(I also powder and then use a base eyeshadow to set my concealer.but still,my curler makes my concealer and eyeshadow transfer and ruins my liner).so now I'm a bit undecided about when to use my curler. but anyway I'm definitely going to use blinking method from now on
Hi Abbey! Love your videos. The only suggestions I have would be for mascara video to use less eyeliner. It makes it harder to see.
I also was wondering if you have any suggestions for very straight lashes.....and your thoughts on curling and waterproof varieties.
I have found your mascara choices to be right on but my lashes still droop....
I'm sooooo happy you're coming to 100k!!! You really deserve it...and much more!
Thank you for a great video, as always!😉
Applying an eyeshadow primer first really helps 😎
You RUclips channel my new favorite for everything makeup! Especially MASCARA!!!!
Use vaseline (petroleum jelly) and tissue to remove waterproof eye makeup! Works incredible and feels great!
I use a GUM pro a brush that people use on their teeth on my eyelashes to separate and brush the lashes out. Works great on lower eyelash lids too.
You don’t imagine how you help me to decide which one bye. Blessings
Do you use waterproof? Do you find it makes a huge difference?
This was brilliant! I'm trying these techniques today! Thank you! ♥️🙏
I hope you love them!
Great tips! Thank you very helpful! I have both the Maybelline lash sensational mascara and the Lancôme monsieur big but I haven’t tried these tips and I will! Usually my lashes look like yours on the right side.
