i had to look that acronym up, thanks for teaching me a little about where in the world i am! and glad we share a geographic region. looking forward to going down to the States one of these days...
Isn't it great to have a library crawl and find some gems? I'm reading even more nonfiction lately than I usually do, because I can't find a novel that really blows me away.
i've been meaning to get more into nonfiction after reading a couple of good memoirs recently but all these made-up stories keep distracting me! ~ it can be tough when there's a dry spell of wonder in one's novel-reading. i feel i've managed to get around this lately by spreading out Territory of Light over a year - that way every month i get at least one chapter of literary satisfaction guaranteed ✨
Hi Seb! I haven’t dropped by your channel for a while and so I didn’t know you had moved. I moved to Victoria BC in October, just across the water from you now. I’m glad you talked about the architecture of the main library in Vancouver. I love that building.
hello neighbour! oh i was thinking about trying Victoria when looking for a place to live... i've heard it's lovely. still wanna make it out there one day, but the trip seems more likely to happen in spring now. and yes, it's such a gorgeous building! 📚
i knowww, he said it's coz there's witty metric stuff going on to make the lines sound neat (?) in Latin that just can't be done in English, so rhyme was his answer. i'm full of trepidation.
@@apocalypsereading7117 It would be interesting to compare some of what that translator had done versus what another’s interpretation to how the effect changes the mood of the reader!
These are lovely books you got from the library! ❤
cheers Freddie, i'm pretty thrilled bout them ✨
Welcome to the PNW! I was in Vancouver this weekend great city. I’m right on the border in Bellingham.

@@lindysmagpiereads sounds lovely, looking forward to it! 🍵
Uh! Why would you add rhyme when translating a poem that wasn’t originally in rhyme???
