Thanks for posting this. I wish I would have watched it before I bowled the tournament yesterday. 36’ pattern and I should have had my IQ Tour in my bag with surface. Turns out that I found something decent up 5 with a 3D Offset. Lesson learned for sure.
I have been playing in my sport league on 32' Wolf. Oddly there is zero hook to the outside. I can take my Pitch Black at 3000 grit and make the 10 pin by rolling up 3 board. That is how wet it is out there. Anything right of 7 board is out of bounds. Left of 7 board is insane flippy hook. My friend threw his new Purple Hammer up 10 board in Warm up and it went in the left gutter! The only shot I found for me is Pitch Black at 3000 grit up 8 board. This works for one to two games then carrydown is so massive that nothing hooks anymore. No miss room right and no miss room left. Shot totally narrows down to one board. Moving right to get around it does not work since there is an out of bounds to the right. Moving left just increases the hook amount making it hard to get to the pocket. In two weeks only two bowlers have made it to a 200 game. We bowl 4 games. I had considered this week maybe using sanded resin up 7 board to burn it up and widen the miss room and maybe make the shot playable for longer and avoid the massive carrydown from all the urethane and plastic balls people are throwing to control the insane backends... Thoughts?
I’d try taking your pitch black down to 500 or 360 and try to play 1 or 2 board. Lots of surface and slow ball speed. If you have any reactive balls that have a 2 inch pin or pin on axis will probably work well to at a lower surface 1000 or lower. If it’s still not hooking I’d say they arnt putting out the exact wolf pattern lol but try those
