    Man you guys that is exactly what I have been struggling with the last few weeks and like you I thought I need to move left? Nope wouldn't hook, so moved back right was having some success going Brooklyn but that's not what we want right? So I have the new Motiv Venom Blue Coral 15.2pds I went from my usual 13.5 mph to 15-15.5 mph and came up the back more, quite a bit, and oh man talk about f-rollout! You can just see that thing building energy and it get down there and makes that little turn gradually and just hit and goes right out the back between the eight and nine thing of beauty! So yeah I've been watching you guys for a while and You're Dead on on that analysis I recommend it to everybody on the short pattern and I'm just a rookie but I'm getting better everyday took third place in my 4th of July tournament say what? Saddleback Lanes mission Viejo California!

  • @Jason_P
    @Jason_P 2 года назад

    Excellent content guys. One thing I would have changed would be for you to throw the urethane ball a few times before you use it as an example. Urethane balls need 3-4 shots (at least) to get some oil on them before they provide a consistent reaction. Urethane needs to calm down, and until that happens you cannot use it to make adjustments. Otherwise you will be making adjustments based on inaccurate ball reaction.

    • @chriswebbtech
      @chriswebbtech 2 года назад +2

      Not usually, because dry house lanes etc. are dry from the foul line to the break point. This pattern is short yes, but it has a lot of oil from the line flat across the lane so you can stand right and get it down to the breakpoint. So it all depends reading front to back when the ball hooks / rolls out. cause it it moves way early, then you're only option is way left and extreme angles and or loft. or both.

    • @chriswebbtech

      not really. The only reason lofting would work is due to the speed it takes to loft. So the loft isn't exactly would be helping more than the speed. THe loft etc. really only comes into play once a ton of urethane and traffic go down the lane through a block and you have some hold in the middle that you can loft over dried out fronts to get too.

    I haven’t played on a sport shot before, can someone who has experience with short patterns tell me why pro players use urethane on short patterns instead of a weaker reactive resin ball like a storm twist?

    • @tylerkeeton199
      @tylerkeeton199 2 года назад +1

      The weaker reactive aren’t going to roll out or hook stop which is what you need. Urethane will burn all its energy in the front part of the lane so on the backend the ball will not hook making the short patterns easier to play. Using the weak reactive save it’s energy till the backend meaning that the ball will look good on the front part of the lane but as soon as it sees the friction it’s going to take a hard left, sometimes even hooking more than a strong bowling ball. Strong asyms are thrown on short patterns because like urethane they burn all of their energy during the front part of the lane giving you a hook stop motion which will be the most controllable

    • @theb2694
      @theb2694 2 года назад

      Urethane blends the lane front to back better than reactive does. Reactives (especially the weaker ones) are too senitive to the oil and dry which makes your ball motion very twitchy and unpredictable. Short oil with carrydown is a nightmare for a weaker reactive. Urethane reads the lane much earlier which is fitting especially if you like to play up the rail because if you miss a little out, you can get your ball to pick up early enough to not slide in the channel. Urethane is also more gradual in its motion than reactive at the end of the pattern. Reactive can sometimes give you that skate in the oil and "stand up" hard on the friction motion. This would force you to open up your angles but your miss area would be very small and carry might suffer too. If you do decide to throw reactive, put some surface on it.

    • @BradandKyleBowl
      @BradandKyleBowl  2 года назад

      It seems very counter intuitive, but on shorter patterns you will predominantly see players play outside. When trying to move left, the ball wants to hook earlier and earlier. So, you play close to the gutter to get your ball to go down the lane longer and not overhook!
