  • severe oil leak on a toyota sienna v6. Oil pouring out all over the ground. Engine lifters rattling, check engine light on. There is a cover over the pipe that was leaking so you couldn't see it from the top. from the bottom, all you can see is oil pouring out and splashed all over by the serpentine belt. Once we took the cover off you could see the hose shoot the oil out while it was running.
Found out later on that Toyota has updated this part so that it no longer uses a rubber hose. The new part is all metal pipe. There was a campaign to replace these hoses that was in Jan. 1, 2010 but ended in March 31, 2013. I don't know what they will do for customers that bought their Toyota and never got the letter to replace the hose and years have gone by after the campaign is over
This is the oil feed tube for the variable Vale timing, VVT-i

That is the 90K recall. it still applies to any V6 with rubber lines. The New V6 use metal lines.

I got the replacement for my Sienna back then, but it was still rubber hose in the middle. I called the dealer today and they said it was only rubber hose part replacement back then.

My wife called on her way to work. The check oil light is on. I went to their garage and true enough, I saw the engine is all wet with oil and oil spilled all over the floor. I cannot see where the leak is coming from but maybe this is causing it. My problem how can i tow it from their garage. I may need to call AAA. Thanks for sharing this.

a good towing company can get just about any car out of any situation. If your oil leak is like the one this sienna had you can't see where it is coming from. there is a cover over the hose so the oil just pours out and you can't see it from the top. from underneath you can see it coming out but there are so many things in the way you can't see exactly where it's coming from. You have to remove the cover then it's visible like in the video

What is the name of this line? I recently replaced my oil cooling lines because of the same issue. However there is a new leak and it seems to be coming from somewhere above the oil cooling lines. How do I get to this hose?

the line is called the VVT-i oil hose. there is a cover over the hose so it is not visible looking from the hood. the video shows the hose with the cover removed so you can see the leak.

My sienna lost all its oil the other day. Tomorrow is the first day I can work on it. Im really hoping for a failed oil filter
