Vanquish VS4-10 Phoenix VS RC Speedy C3! [Does more money=more performance in RC Crawling?]

  • In this video, we’re putting two very different trucks with the same heart head-to-head in a game of crawl to see which one comes out on top! Will it be the Vanquish VS4-10 Phoenix or will the RC Speedy C3 based on the VFD Twin edge it out?? Stay tuned to find out!
    Cameron and I headed out to West Wendover in an attempt to avoid the snow in Salt Lake and it turned out to be a great idea! While there was some snow around still, the rock was dry and grippy as always! Since I haven’t had much of a chance to drive these two rigs side by side, I was very curious to see how the new RC Speedy C3 would hold up against the VS4-10 Phoenix on some hard lines. To be fair, the Phoenix has many, many lines under its belt, and the C3 has yet to really be tuned at all-but that said, Lt. Dan kicks some caged ass!
    Let me know what you think in the comments down below! Have another idea for a video? I’d love to hear what you’ve got, so let me know!

    it would help the C3 to not have the spare on the back correct? that would seem to be adding a lot of weight high and in the rear. Looks very cool, but I guess that's the choice. Also this video is great as are all of yours. the production value is incredible. Excellent work sir.

    • @highnoonhobby
      @highnoonhobby  Год назад +1

      Most definitely. I know many people run a fake (plastic) bead-lock and a tire with no foam as their spare to reduce weight. This is absolutely something I'll be tuning and working on in the near future. But I really appreciate those kind words, thank you so much!! Always working to improve the video quality! 🤘🏼🤙🏼🍻

    You should rename the Phoenix "Billygoat" because it climbed that rock like it was easy.

    On my c2 getting rid of the trailing arms and going to bent links helped a lot I cut the tab for the trailing arms off as it’s a hang up spot add some limiting straps to the shock to help keep it more composed and a some more low forward weight. Makes them a really capable rig of course it’s not gonna compete wit class 2 comp trucks

      Great input, thank you so much for sharing! We’ve got a buddy down South that did a similar build to what you describe and his is surprisingly capable! I’ll have to start tuning mine once I get through all these other projects 😅 *when you overwhelm yourself with a hobby*

    The speedy lols very high.
    And a lot of gear on it.
    Vs a stripped down version.
    With heavy axles and not much on them body side.
    Seems like the tires could play a role too.

    • @highnoonhobby
      @highnoonhobby  Год назад

      Very true! The weight is a huge factor in the performance here-but I would agree that the tires are playing into it as well. Cheers! 🤘🏼

    we need an update on the c3!

  • @kevinp2561
    @kevinp2561 Год назад +1

    I have noticed with the non-coil over shocks they tend to unload which definitely causes the roll over problem. I’m currently messing around with spring under the piston to help keep the nose down and have the front end in droop. Especially with that awesome heavy body on your c3.

    • @highnoonhobby
      @highnoonhobby  Год назад +1

      Ahhh that's a great insight! I definitely determined that I need to try out a different setup, but I couldn't figure out why the non-coil-over shocks were performing so poorly. Honestly, it may be in-part due to my lack of building skills as well. But stay tuned for more tuning and testing to come! 🤘🏼🤙🏼🍻

      @@highnoonhobby that’s what the hobby is all about! Always tinkering. I am still learning as well. Just have been watching a lot of videos on shock setup lately as I rebuild my trail finder 2. A fairly quick easy try would be the pen spring mod. Using your typical click pen pull the spring and place it under the piston. That will essentially keep the shock in full compression but still allow it to articulate since the springs are light. New sub to your channel and really enjoy your content. Keep up the good work! Jealous of your awesome crawling grounds. Much more limited here in the PNW without some traveling to find spots.

    Another 🔥🔥 video Alec. So I was watching the C3 and was wondering how much adjustability you have in your upper links? The front seems like you have lot of separation between the lower link and upper link on the skid side. If you can try lowering the upper link closer to the lower link. That should help drive forward by keeping the front from lifting up on steep inclines.
    Anyways fun video, really liking the c3 build brother! Cheers 🍻

      Ahhh, that's a great observation, Ryan! Thank you so much for pointing that out, that's totally something I would have glazed right over! I'll take a look at it tonight and see what I can come up with! Cheers my friend, thank you so much! The C3 may not perform too well right now, but I don't care-I'm in love 🤘🏼🤙🏼🍻😅😂

    What are you doing way out there in Wendover? That's quite a ways from SLC. Ya know I have a VS4-10 kit still sealed in the box that I bought months ago... I'm mortified about having to paint it (I want it to come out well), so I haven't built it yet. Yeah I suck.

      Hahaha I'm always willing to make a long drive for solid lines!! And I feel ya there, I have a new Phoenix body that I am loathing the idea of painting-I might just have to send it over to Donut Boy and have him paint it up all nicely for me 😅😂 Cheers, my friend!

      They are! And I just used the larger vanquish hubs to counter the offset allow the portals to clear. I believe I'm on the 475 hubs if I'm not mistaken. And great choice-the Phoenix will treat you very well!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
