    Nick - Thank you for taking time to review the Fulcrum 2. We appreciate that you cover all facets of the knife and provide honest feedback.

    I have to be honest, in the first few seconds of this video I fell in love with how this knife looks. The thumb pad thing looks like the hunk of metal (bolster I think is the term?) on some traditional folders. I'd love to see that G-10(?) in a dark brown and a nice satin blade to evoke that traditional feel.
    However as it is I do like the coloring of the blade coating when it's open. You get this three-tone thing with the black on one end, the grey on the other end and the thumb pad in the middle with *some* shine to it but muted by the texturing. The matte grey kinda continues this muted look and it has some tacticool to it to satisfy my inner ten-year-old but it's not in your face about it. Like this knife would easily fit in the next Metal Gear Rising game but as the knife of a classier side character and not one of the many edgy characters that Revengeance had. It's the knife an evil British guy in the year 2025 would have to cut an apple open with before doing something dastardly.
    I'm also a sucker for when the scales have an outline. Even though it was completely crap functionally and I wasn't a fan of the black blade and huge logo, the Snap-On knife your neighbor reviewed ages ago was always a guilty pleasure aesthetically. I liked how the red scale material was surrounded by a small outline of white, and this knife does the same thing and the metal of the thumb pad surrounds the black G-10 when you look at it straight on.
    I wanna try this knife out so much for that locking mechanism, but if I could get a knife that looked like this with a standard liner lock, a little better tolerances and a slightly better steel I'd jump on that in a second.
    I'll shut up now.

    Hey Nick, mine has the same very slight recurve so I suspect that was intended. Thankfully mine doesn't rattle at all even though I've had it apart twice to see if the pivot would adjust. In my experience the pivot is intended to seat at full tightness. ( didn't know or notice it was permanently Loctited, oops! ) mine is wearing just fine and I must admit I open it thousands of times more that I cut anything with it. Thanks for your entertaining an educational videos!

    nick, I have this one too. you need to use grease, it helps the rattling and action.
    the steel sucks on it and its heavy, no milling and low end plastic scale covers are junk.
    would be great if they just milled the liners and didn't use cheap hard plastic for the scales. hate sharpening the terrible steel blade. the blade coating sucks also. but it matches the scales for a nice look.
    overall I don't recommend the knife for the gimic. but its not really terrible. but not good at all.

    awesome i have seen this knife a couple time before in videos great to see a video on it and hear the opinions you have about it.

  • @dirtrider88
    @dirtrider88 4 года назад

    i get the opening action is more easy when your pushing with your thumb (rather than pulling) but they could have so easily made it an option for leftys by concaving the upper scale on the other other side and putting a couple clip screw holes on the other side. OR, just make a completely left haded version. I want this knife so bad as a cheap EDC but cant bring my self to EDC an righty.
    Also, a little heat and that "permanent" loctited screw will come right out.

    Mature opinion toward the last minute. It's a fun TV flipper. I like giving it to friends and watching them try to figure out how it opens. Like Nick said, it's a show piece. For only $42 I don't see why Nick would "not recommend." It's fun, good looking, and works well.

    Nick you might want to change the title of this video, that knife you have is the Fullcrum 2 compact, the Fullcrum 2 is larger, there's 2 versions. This one here is the compact one, the full size is lager than the Delica. The full size is 19.2 cm total length, 1cm longer than the Delica.

      You don't need to comment this on every knife review you know. :) Watch reviews are just inherently much more expensive, and take a bit longer to do. Know that I've got three different watches on my table now for review, and more on the horizon. But unless I start getting enough prominence that watch companies are sending review samples more regularly, I'll always have more knife and pen reviews than watches.

    Nick, I've had this for a year or so, and I think there is a faster/easier technique for opening it. (Come to think of it, I should have shown it in my "I'm the Norwegian Nick Shabazz" video)
    After the first step, try using the same thumb that you slide it open with to lock the blade, it is a lot faster and smoother :)
    EDIT: I obviously wrote this before seeing all of it, you open it differently when you are talking about the opening mechanism than you do at the beginning of the video

    • @garyfairbrother5532
      @garyfairbrother5532 6 лет назад +1

      StoråsStudio I have evolved over the year to adopt that style of opening too. It needed to break-in for a few months before my old, arthritic hands could do it though. I'll look up your channel.

      Halfcocked86 Wow! That may just be the most pretentious thing anyone’s ever said about knives? Knives are tools. They are the tool that built our civilisation, without the ability to brake large items down in to smaller, more manageable items as what allowed us to build the wold we live in. But more, so much more than that I have to ask, who the hell are you to dictate what I’m allowed to consider discrimination against me? What the hell gives you the right to tell other people they aren’t allowed to consider blatant discrimination as discrimination just because you’re pretentious? What is wrong with you, you appalling egotist?

      Seems like the design of this knife more or less makes it necessary to have the clip on one side only. In that case they'd have to manufacture a left-handed version with the opening mechanism on the other side. How many of such a niche knife should they produce. The market for this knife would already be smaller than a regular liner lock and the number of lefties looking for such a knife would be even smaller. As it is they're likely not selling truckloads of these.

      its like spending a good amount of a video on water saying "water may or may not increase the humidity of something if it has direct contact with it, not only on its liquid state but maybe even on its gaseous state but only when found on large enough quantities for our senses to perceive it as such" instead of saying "water is wet"
