My favorite thing about watching this team the last few years is how bright the bench players shine. I consistently hear people talk about how we don't have all these "x factor" type bench players and I think so many teams think of the bench that way - a guy who can come in and score 15 quick points, a guy who will grab 10 rebounds etc etc... but they overlook how critical it is to find players who seamlessly fit in to the SYSTEM and compliment the core players. We don't need an x factor hot hand scorer (although pritchard is doing that just fine right now haha) because all the guys who come in allow the top guys to play their game. We still have floor spreading, defense, and shooting regardless of whose in or out. I'ts just great to watch.
Joe M is a true strategist- uses the players for reasons - optimizes the game plan for the competition and to maximize vs the rules - too many coaches are complacent - he is a rare gem
@@christiantrinidade9150Ime didn't trust his bench or develop young guys; he was a defense coach with tough love but relied on player talent when it came to offense. But playing drop coverage on Steph was stupid
It's great to see Joe getting recognition. The people who are still critical (in my opinion) are simply just hard headed at this point and would rather be right than admit what is ultimately GREAT NEWS - Joe is an incredible coach and is the perfect type of crazy for this group of players
John always coming up with the best Simpsons references. Missed the chance of mentioning something like Joe having a problem with Pritchard's sideburns.
It’s always fun to beat up the Heat… but today was a little different. I turned the tv off after the game and reminisced of all the classic battles the franchises had and I started feeling bad. But either way Miami hold that L
Can never feel bad for them😂they clowned the shit out of us when we blew G7 2 years ago. During the Lebron era and the beginning of the end for PP, KG & Ray it was brutal. Screw ‘em!
He seemed to be ineffective against anyone tho. He was in his own head. Not trying to say Queta or Luke or even JB who was matched up for a bit didn't do great... But I don't think he looked at those guys and got scared they would stop him, I think his confidence was shot. He missed some shots you almost never see him miss and he missed them badly, and you could see his body language just kinda staring at the sky like "why me why now!?!" haha. Queta is a good defender, but I don't think he's at a point where a big who can score is scared of him
Thanks John for the podcast..I totally agree with you about JT!! I understand he doesn’t want to miss games and I think he said he knows that people pay to see him play but I feel like he needs to sit out some games and rest. I hope he does sit for the Detroit game.
When you win a title a couple of things happen that I think you need to adress after games like this. 1. You are going to get the best effort from every single team in the league every night. Those teams want to beat the best regardless of how thier record looks or how competent they will be come playoff time. 2. Winning back to back titles is tougher than anybody thinks. The heat took a miracle from ray allen to avoid the Spurs hoisting a trophy. The Warriors had CP3 not been injured would have taken that team to the last minute of that game 7. The nuggets looked like easy champion favorites till the end of last year when they flamed out. The bubble lakers had one of the worst post-championship seasons of the modern era. It’s hard to do! 3. Boston has noticeable cracks in the foundation this year. Jrue holiday has slightly regressed as defender and he has been an overall problem offensively for the majority of the season. They lack true depth outside of PP and Al Horford. You don’t want Luke Kornet defending bigs for 30 minutes a game if an injury does occur. Winning is hard, enjoy the wins no matter how they come. The team is still locked in and a quarter of the way through the year in happy with a 17-4 record.
Was very ugly especially early on. Tatum was 💩John, yes. But it was fun as hell watching Luke get 6 blocks and Pritchard just run shit. He’s got almost 80 pts in his last 3 games. Spoelstra even had some very kind words for Fast PP postgame. I like Drew. I honestly knew nothing about him until the last few weeks when I read up on him and he’s a very hard worker. That’s what I like about this team-from the Jays all the way down they work hard. Pritchard & Brown especially. Looks like we’ll finally get to see Smart go up against his former teammates on Saturday which should be fun. Thanks John! ☘️🔒
Not always going to be pretty, but winning ugly is an artform in an of itself. Epsecially in a rock fight with the Heat 🪨🔥💎 Drew Peterson got more length and size than I anticipated, brings solid energy (similar to Walsh). Kornet Kontest with the block part & Precious P doing his thing. Tatum gotta be better but all around glad to stack the win. Thx John ☘︎🔒
Always fun to beat the heat because of their rabid fan base! Last season, they were taunting the Celtics for being chokers. But now they're saying trade bam, jimmy, duncan and terry!
I’ve said for a while Luke has the same body as Brooke Lopez. He should study Brooke Lopez, because Lopez and holiday Was a great combo if they can create that or find that in Luke just the defensive part, it would be a blessing. Gotta love Luke kornet
@ I know Luke used to shoot but doesn’t anymore but I think defensively come to replicating Lopez game. I would agree that Luke is a better law for sure but for some reason we don’t let Luke shoot threes anymore. I wonder if he’s just not in practice, I know his were declining season by season from beyond the three-point line until he stop shooting them completely
I’m curious if the fact that Tatum plays so many games is actually good for his health and keeps him this Iron Man or if it hurts long-term. You see a lot of load management and those guys seem to get hurt just as much as they did before they started to load manage if not more so I’m wondering if the more you play the healthier, your body is.
if Bam played in the 2000"s when the power forward spot was stacked he would struggle guarding the good ones due to not having enough strength and size.
Peyton Pritchard yet again forcing the issue in how he is looked at in this league! 6th man of the year favorite! Off to historic start! Lightning in a bottle! Boston struck Gold by seeing his talent and getting him under minimal contract
We say all the time that basketball is a game of runs. A 7-0 run in the 2nd or 3rd period isn't considered significant; why is it more so if it happens at the start?
Sorru guys have to comment how excited I am , MY CELTICS WON NBA, my DODGERS WON WORLD SERIES , and my LA GALAXY ON THE VERGE ON WINNING MLS CUP ON SAT, and on each of those teams we have a really good chance to repeat !LETSSSSS F GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I agree, last season I thought he was an incompetent madman though. 😂
He is a coaching genius. Who are we to question the savant Brad Stevens when he named an unknown as Joe HC in 2022? 😎
Yep, I knew coming into the season Joe was going to give other guys a chance and rest his starters to preserve them for the playoffs.

Payton is real Celtic fans
That Simpsons analogy was top tier! 😂
I think i'm one of the few people that have watched peyton pritchard since he was at west Linn years ago
I know it's been out a while but I love the new intro music!
it’s crazy that the Celtics have three 7 Footers and two small ball centers
When Joe looks at his bench, he sees weapons for different situations, not as fodder for resting the starters.

WINNING!!!!!💚☘☘☘

lol I watched the Locked on Heat episode after the game. I actually felt kind of bad for them they were so downtrodden
Can never feel bad for them😂they clowned the shit out of us when we blew G7 2 years ago. During the Lebron era and the beginning of the end for PP, KG & Ray it was brutal. Screw ‘em!
@@KWAPTright they clowned us the whole summer that year
John if you go back and watch the game look at how bam did not want to attack queta. And if u do can u please speak on it.
Bam struggles when being guarded by taller guys

No cookies for playing 82 games 😂

Duncan was building a brick house last night
the rabid fan base that doesn't even fill the seats until halftime and leaves early 4th haha

Lebron, Luka, jokic, embiid, Sabonis, all make 10 plus TO worthy plays a game. It happens…

no competition at all
Pawtucket P ☘️☘️☘️
Great defense by Luke he had Bam in jail
Why do JT and JB dribble so much toward end of each Quarters with 20 secord left. I belive they can run plays with other 4 player.
☘️☘️👊
Peyton Pritchard. Most Improved Player? Nope. 6th Man of the Year? Nah.
MVP! MVP! MVP! 😂
Haha. I absolutely love that he was trash talking Spoe.... and even more so that he was 100 percent right.
