Allahu A’alam, I have not been to Saudi. As an Afghan, we have 100s of 1000s Afghan labour workers there. A lot of them have had terrible experiences with the people/business owners/their bosses. They have been subject to discrimination/prejudice, Allah knows best what the reason might be for this.
This is not a reflection of everyone out there; I have also heard stories of people bringing out full fridges and placing them on the streets so that anyone passing by can benefit from the food.
There are many labour workers from other countries (e.g. Bangladesh) who have been subject to oppression and discrimination.
Regardless, No one is infallible. The Saudi’s have established a great environment for seekers of knowledge. But to be just we have to be considerate of our brothers from 3rd world countries who are not treated as humans let alone as Muslim brothers.

Can Haktan. Ok, this has two parts to it.
First, oil. Who would you like them to sell it to? Iran? The country that is carrying out a proxy war against them? And where do you think the money is going? Do you know how much of that money is spent for the Haramain, as well as the hujjaj. That alone costs billions of Riyals, and we’re not even talking about other Islamic projects that serve the Muslims living there. And as Sajid has said, studying Islam in Saudi is free for expats. Where do you think all that money comes from?
Second, supporting the West. In case you didn’t read the articles properly, Saudi keeps the peace regionally, wish keeps things calm in the area. Are any of the Arab countries suffering? The opposition of the Arab Spring was itself unbenificiel to Saudi. All of them are working together. And it seems like you’ve forgotten all the times they’ve opposed the West. Have you forgotten of King Faisal and his opposition to Israel? He defended the Palestinian Cause to the extent that it got him assassinated by the CIA.
And lastly, in terms of who is whose puppet. In my eyes, I see Muhammad bin Salman playing America. Didn’t he get Trump to sign a massive weapons deal as well as their ability to go ahead with nuclear power, even though it isn’t in America’s interest? Saudi is playing them, you just haven’t realised it.

@@heraldofmorning3219 You are confused. US is playing Saudi. Saudi is currently fighting an American war against Iran in Yemen.
I am aware of most of the sectarian extremism from Shia clerics in Iran, however I believe the proxy wars are pointless and mostly caused by the US to cause division between and amongst Muslims and Sunni/Shia. Were it not for the US, Saudi and Iran would most likely have maintained peaceful relations and focused on Palestine.
Saudi is keeping the peace? They are amongst the main countries responsible for brutality and killing and raping innocents, such as their tyranny in Bahrain against peaceful protesters who actually supported the regime and were merely calling for better conditions. Their actions are just like what Iran have done to Syria. Except ironically the Shia majority protesters in Bahrain did not have the support of Iranian weapons. The Sunni majority protesters in Syria had the support of Sunni weapons and nations, mainly Turkey and Saudi.
Saudi also have supported the killing of thousands of Muslims in Egypt and Libya. In those cases, they were the ones that caused fitna where fitna didn't exist.

I lived in Jordan for two years. I’m from the UK but originally Palestinian. My skin complexion is brown and not white. Because of that you get treated like crap. And the amount of racism Iv experienced there was more than in the UK by 100 fold. Only because I’m Palestinian and I’m not white. If you’re white everyone wants to be your friend, everyone loves you and you get treated like a king. Anyway, I was so sick of it I went back to the UK and I would never go back. I went to Saudi for umrah and tbh I was expecting the same thing. But I got the complete opposite. I was only there for a week and I experienced things Iv never in my life seen. At prayer times they leave there shops as they are and go pray. So people don’t steal. I got a taxi to get to a location and I only had 500 riyal note and he didn’t have enough change. He gave me his number and said just call me when you get change and left. Another thing that happened is that I wanted to buy some clothes from a store and I left my wallet in the hotel. He gave me all the things I wanted and said pay me when you have the money. These are people Iv never met before. I visited another city called riyad and one taxi driver, there first one I got, literally spent the whole day with me and didn’t even want me to pay him. Taking me around. In Medina, random people would approach you and talk to you and just want to be your friend randomly. People from all across the world. I’m not going to lie, in Mecca it can get a bit crazy but it wouldn’t be from the Saudi people but from foreign Muslims. I saw things in Mecca which broke my heart. At the black stone for example, people push, shove , jump on top of people, and trample old people to get to touch it and when they get to it they hog it and hold on and not let others have a chance and people would have to literally drag him off. Me and my cousins saved an old woman from being trampled because no one cared, they just want to touch the stone. That is so sad. Also, if you’re going to do ummah with females with you I would highly advise you protect them in Mecca. I have seen and know girls who have been sexually harassed at the kabah. One story of a girl I know was praying and a man was standing right behind her. She thought it might just be be because it’s crowded but literally put his crouch on her back side to the extent that she felt “ you know what “. She had to stop the prayer and leave. I even saw a picture of a man who took a selfie at the kabah with his tongue out and he has acid on it ( basically a strong party drug ). I saw so much wrong in the bottom floor of the kabah that I done all my tawaf on the top floor surrounding the kabah even tho it takes 10 times as long to make one circle. Just so you know the people who do this are not the Saudi people but people who come from other countries. That place is a melting pot of cultures so it can get a bit crazy. There are a lot of ignorant people. I swear it breaks my heart seeing such corruption at the kabah. What would the prophet say if you’re hurting, hogging, and trampling other Muslims just to touch the black stone. But please if you go to Mecca protect your women. Personally when I go with my wife I will do my tawaf at the top floor with her. For her safety. Also at the bottom floor you’ll need to re do your wudu 10 times per tawaf because random women will touch your skin for no reason and make you lose your wudu 😂

Lived there 13 years. Had similar experience. Had more negative eperiences with other expats than Saudis. Good to hear a more balanced perspective. More American Muslims probably need to share the positives in contrast to others who never lived there or who went with a negative attitude from the start and push a one sided, un-nuanced view. Many American expat Muslims have lived there much longer and are still there.

I didn’t move from France to Saudi, I had already left France for an other Muslim country (Morocco) when I got married. Then with du’a and patience my husband found a job in Saudi Arabia.
Actually to be honest it’s getting more difficult to find a job ( and to keep the one you have) in KSA because of saudization ( a plan that encourages to give jobs to Saudis). Although we have to keep in mind that our subsistance is in Allah سبحانه و تعالى hands. I don’t know how long we’ll be able to stay here, but alhamdulillah we thank Allah whatever happens.
I don’t know if you live in a Muslim country, otherwise I really encourage to do so. If your not able to live in KSA, try an other Muslim country. If you have any diploma it can be an opportunity to find a job more easily , otherwise it’s not a problem. I know lots of people that earn a living in Muslim countries and don’t have any diplomas, everything is possible by Allah’s will.
May Allah make it easy for all of us

It's all about culture brother, "democracy" does not work in the Islamic culture or any other culture (whether is Chinese, Japanese, Orthodox-Russian, African) it works only in the west, but the west wants to impose it to the other cultures, for example the only stable countries in the Muslim world are monarchies (Saudi Arabia, Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, Morocco), look at Lybia and Iraq now, prosperous countries back then under 2 strong men (Gheddafi and Saddam Hussein) now with "democracy" are in a mess, it just doesn't work, even this "democracy" has a lot of negatives aspects, it is not the best system, that's my personal opinion

      Bismillaah
Yes.. as someone living in Indonesia, a country that underwent this kind of change from so-called "authoritarianistic government" to "democracy", I agree..
Democracy only opens the door for disunity and dissents, and beautifies hate speech and protects the spread of social diseases with the notion of free speech.
In Indonesia, before reformation (democratization), it was more stable. True, there are shortcomings here and there. But, overall things are stable and secure.
After reformation, it is true that people can speak more freely, do whatever they want (have tattoos, etc). But, the people are getting more fragmented. As per the consequence of freedom to speak and embark on political ventures, numerous political parties arise and the differences become more prevalent. Every person can speak, including those who are not educated, or those who have destructive beliefs. And with social media, it's become like a nation-wide speaker's corner. Everywhere, people likes to debate more than build the society together. And people become reluctant of refuting bad people and ideas, because they will be labeled "anti-democracy", or "anti free-speech"..
Allaah and His Messenger truly has sent the best of religion, that puts into detail how to live in a society, how to create stability, how we deal with a just ruler, and how we deal with an unjust ruler, the proper way to give our critiques, etc. And it's exactly not through democracy and its methods, or through any method outside of Islaam. May Allaah bless the muslim countries, and make us people who implement the deen.. aameen..
Truly, it is said that the 'ulamaa can see a fitna before it happens. And the laypeople can see it after it happened. The righteous scholars have warned against rebelling, although the ruler is unjust, because the madharat of having no ruler/anarchy is worse than having an unjust ruler.. but people went on and rebel, and after years and years they finally realized that the scholars were right..

You are white AND American (that says it all, brother!)
I was born in Saudi Arabia. I have lived ALL OF MY LIFE THERE except for the last 2years (I am in Canada now).
I am Yemeni Arab and a practicing Muslim who wears modestly and suffers here in Canada as it's hard for a Muslim woman to live here, but Saudi Arabia canceled my residency, and I wasn't given my natural right: the Saudi citizenship. Not only that, but I was prevented from studying in university, taking any government program training, receiving healthcare in any public hospital, starting any kind of business, or marrying a Saudi man (YES! the Saudi government doesn't allow Saudis and non-Saudis to marry except in very limited situations and under strict conditions, yet it's very easy if a Saudi marries a Western!). I lost my jobs.. one job after another.. despite being an excellent and dedicated and very loyal employee even though I received excellent performance certificates from almost every place I worked at. The reason was always that I am not Saudi, so if a Saudi wants my place they can take it. Two of my sisters also lost their jobs this way. Most of our employers exploit us and paid us very little or sometimes never paid us at all. I worked in the last 10 years there as English teacher, so I met many US, Canadian, British teachers who were treated like they're superior humans. Actually, any European (Caucasian) person is treated very well and much better than any other nationality. Some of the teachers I worked with were Romanians, Turkish, Russians, and Georgians, who weren't even able to pronounce English words properly to save their lives. They would pronounce "muscle" as /muskul/ and "three" as /tri/ and most of these (native speakers or not) were mostly bad teachers in general (lazy, careless, helping students to cheat, some even insult Arabs and Muslims...etc), but they were too white and too blonde to be punished or fired or even talked to about their bad teaching habits. Those plus any teacher with a North American or European or Australian passport were paid 3 to 4 times more than even the Saudi teachers themselves, with the Arab teachers being paid the least (lower even than Asian and African teachers).
So.. again, you only know one face of Saudi Arabia, the face that loves people like you, and it's so unfair of you, brother, to speak lightly about all of these injustices I and millions like me suffered from, especially because there were hundreds of thousands of Yemenis (and other nationalities) who were born in Saudi Arabia and get expelled even though they had valid residence cards, and as a Yemeni, I was treated very disrespectfully almost every time I meet a Saudi official to renew a document or pass a check point. I suffered from discrimination in every aspect of my 40 years of life there, and in the end.. even my right to stay there (where I was born and live my whole life) was taken from me.
Again, you are very white AND American, so you've been living in entirely "another Saudi Arabia".
    Thank you.

Regarding khashoggi, you can believe what you want, but the people held responsible are now in trial and going through judgement. Saudi is far from perfect but it is much better than a lot of Muslim countries I would even say it’s the best out of the bunch and maybe Saudi is overly- criticised due to false reporting and wrongly judge imo.
