I was looking at the HD 78X yesterday, loaded it up. But the only thing it does for me is Simbrief import. The rest of it is actually Sub-par to AAU2 in my opinion. While it's freeware not having an update for 8 months even following a major overhaul is painful. Maybe once they release an update it'll get better.
@@ELZCGIJoe it was a band-aid while the default was crap. It’s completely unnecessary now, and tbh could cause more issues than it solves if it hasn’t been updated for a while. For normal operations you really don’t need more than the new default version.
Hard to imagine that this plane is locked behind an 80 dollar upgrade paywall and is so utterly broken that people fix this crap for free. And two years later Asobo still does not give a flying fk about their plane.
What B78XH release and version are you using? The Stable 0.1.15 and Development versions automatically descends the aircraft at TOD when you reduce altitude. If you input Cruise Altitude in Simbrief and load the plan from the FMC, the VNAV cruise altitude is input for you. Would be nice if descend FLs are included like the STAR waypoints.
I used the latest Stable (at time of recording) with the World Map planner. I feel like the overall integration with the world map planner needs to be tightened up tbh - after all, it’s the sim’s default tool that most people will use. To specifically disable world map plans by default (I had to enable it in the FMC), and not pull through cruise altitude or calculate step descents from it - data which is available - in favour of a time-consuming third party external tool, is a little rough IMO. It almost feels a little like gatekeeping / pandering to a vocal (but smaller) group of hardcore users 🤷♂️ The default Longitude now successfully calculates VNAV paths with auto descent from the world map, so hopefully Heavy Division will find a way to integrate that capability into their product…
Yes, I also wish HD can enable the route loaded in FMC can be retrieved when a saved flights is loaded like PDMG 777 on FSX. I feel it's tedious to manually input multiple waypoints into the FMC for a flight more than 1.5 hours 😅
I actually much enjoyed the original 787 when the game came out. I only use a ps4 controller reconfigured and beforehand, flying was a breeze for me. Now when I take off, the plane just goes straight up, stalls, then spirals…. Super buggy now.
Why is so hard to make the VNAV work properly at the FS2020? There´s a lot of aircrafts that the VANV doesn´t work, like the Citation Longitude, 747, TBM 930... and thats kind strange because the VNAV is so good to use and helps a lot, and looking for the other side, the team from working title made a very good job doing the CJ4 VNAV work in a short time
All the default planes, and most addons, use Asobo “VNAV” - which is pretty much just a coupled version of the Nav Log target altitudes you see on the World Map when planning a flight, and the same logic used by the in game ATC. This is just a fairly generic “climb/descend over x distance”, which doesn’t understand SID or STAR limits, and doesn’t really seem to have much understanding of individual aircraft performance either. Any proper VNAV you see in the sim (Honda Jet, WT CJ4, PMDG, Fenix) is bespoke code written by the add on devs for that specific airplane and not transferable. Tldr because there is no real default VNAV, each developer must write their own custom code, and a lot of devs don’t have the resources to do so.
I physically apply full throttle. This is mostly because the sim is screwy with throttle position when you disengage AT for landing - whereas if you physically move it to idle from full upon disengage, you know it will actually be idle for landing. There’s probably a way to use AT for takeoff as in RL, but I don’t know if it’s working or reliable. What I do know is how buggy the sim is, and the issues that lack of correct physical throttle position can cause at other stages of flight.
Can someone please help me how to get the HUD down. He pushes that one time and it comes down immediately. it doesn't work. I am using the B787 heavy mod (develeper version)
I just got the premiem deluxe msfs yesterday and I know how everything works as I already had the game but I wanted 787 I’m on Xbox btw but I will be cruising fine and then out of the blue my plane starts Turning in random directions idk why and if you know how to fix please help
The short answer is "it just does that sometimes", because the default autopilot can be pretty screwy. For a more in depth analysis, please drop by the Discord in description and share a video of the specific issue - I'll likely be able to identify a root cause.
This mod is no longer required in AAU2 - check out the improved default 787 here!

Ill say it again....PMDG REALLY needs to make the 787!

Agreed - I’ve had many people tell me recently how broken the default 787 is. I genuinely didn’t realise how bad it had become.
Very good intro, thanks for that!
They NEED a study level 787 in MSFS!!!!!
AAU2 should bring enough changes to make it acceptable
@@TiJayFLY That would be good....I bought the QW787 but am not seeing a non normal ECL checklist menu for it....thats not good....

Doing a flight now with this plane to KJFK. I love it.

The above two planes you mentioned will have VNAV soon as the new G3000 comes out with VNAV. I can't wait.
