I’m 33 Years Old I purchase the Steam Deck OLED 1TB back in February and haven’t touch my PS5 since , all I play is retros from the N64 , PS2 , PS1 , Sega , GameBoy , GameCube , Xbox I love my little SD 😊
Do you have the complete libraries of those systems? I want to do the same thing! I just got a used Steam Deck since my kids have taken over my Series X lol
Got my 1TB OLED a month back and it's awesome. But hit the nail on the head with themes! Give us themes and abilities to customize how it looks please!
I like the idea of upgrading the mobo when a new one comes out. For those that don't want to have to buy a whole new device when the next one (possibly) is announced would be really cool. Also, the XBGP app too.
9:00 Actually Switch Lite is not main seller from Switch family. In Fiscal Year 2023 (that ended in March 2023) out of nearly 18m Switches sold only 2.6m were Lite. Results for 2024 are similar - Switch Lite represents relatively small fraction of total Switch sales.
Yeah this is a good video but this part was super inaccurate. The switch lite was a colossal failure for Nintendo. I think the reason was the price points were so close most people just bought the full on switch for the extra money. So if Valve did a Deck lite it would need to be a HUGE discount (like 200 dollars plus).
Honestly all I ask for in the new deck is for VRR and way better built in FSR in the system options, the deck is pretty solid still to this day and I have the original LCD.
Bro, keep it up, this is awesome content! I bought my OLED version this spring, and I'm really happy with it. I don't have time to play on PC because of family stuff, but playing on the deck from time to time is perfect (an awesome thing for family people with kids :) I'm really satisfied, my OLED version - I haven't had any problems
The original 64GB version of the Steam deck has a flash memory (eMMC) with m.2 format, it was like a USB memory stick in a PCI-E slot. That's why there's a lot of improvement when changing to any SSD in the same form factor.
Thankfully my Limited Edition OLED Steam Deck did not crack and I ended up taking it apart since I got it, so the screws should not be too tight now either. It works great still.
The biggest hardware complaint that I have is the lack of "official" AR/XR glasses. I'm aware of xReal, Viture, and Rokid, but an official solution would be preferable, even if it's a "Steam Edition" partnership w/ one of those companies. What I want is glasses firmware that's been tested and debugged by Valve, and for SteamOS to recognize the glasses, deactivate the main screen, and swap the resolution/refresh profile. The guiding principle should be "it just works."
Such partnerships are great when they work, but troublesome if they don't. If potential business partners (like xReal, Viture, Rokid) can not - or will not - maintain high standards for their own products and their customer service, it turns into a ball-and-chain situation for Valve. If such a partnership occurs and works out well, I'd sign up. I see the AR/XR industry as being relatively young, however -- and could hardly blame Valve for allowing the industry more time to evolve before making any potential commitments. However, if Valve were to say: "We're already in the VR market, we might as well do some AR/XR as well!", I'd personally prefer that. I won't hold my breath in anticipation, though.
Feel like you can make it just “work” by looking in the settings, you can set it to have the screen off when connecting to an external monitor (your glasses) just set it up yourself it’s not that hard just tinker with it
I bought a used one a couple days ago. It has some popular problems like one trigger is more loose than another. Trackpads don't have clicks at all. And giro doesn't work too... I don't give a hell about it. I have more significant problems like too little size of text in games that makes my eyes bleeding... I hope in future developers will be adding large text option to games.
Look like 8 day shipping for mine. After I sold my PS Portal my Steam Deck 512gb LCD cost me $220. It can remote play so I’m happy with selling my Portal
No way they could justify the machining cost for new hardware molds for a lite model, switch could justify it by selling exponentially more units than valve
Yeah it’s CRAZY that Nintendo has made more money off of switch sales in last 7 years than they made selling EVERYTHING they sold the 36 years prior. 😮
Saying they changed a few things on the oled is saying it lightly. If you look at the detailed rework of the oled model there is a laundry list of changes.
Its almost like valve told people during advertising multiple times to just get a 3rd party dock, I knew it was going to be a mediocre dock because valve themselfs made it clear it wasn't going to ever be a main focuse
Love my Oled pretty can get most games to run on it a few can be tricky but most will run… wish they would do a set top box thats a bit more powerful so we could stream games from a larger harddrive and get a bit better performance
I got the LCD 64 GB first and I thought it was a great device. I ended up selling it because I ended up getting a gaming PC but when they came out with the oled I ended up getting that one just because I seen the pros and cons of having to sit up at the desk and play your games and I love the oled a lot better and the 90 FPS is such a game changer. I know that the ROG can go higher. I did want one of those but every time I tried to order they were either on back order or sold out so I just went with something I was familiar with.
I did not know that the original steam deck at launch had all those issues with it. I’m glad I waited until the OLED model came out, but I did want one as soon as I heard about it when it came out also, I would love if they could get the Xbox Game Pass app to work on it natively so we could play Game Pass games without installing windows and yes, I wish they would fix the nonsupported logo thing. I wanted to play Starfield on my steam deck OLED and for the longest time I thought it would not work, but I saw a bunch of videos on RUclips that people said it does work so I bought it last time. There was a steam sale and then I looked up on the Internet to see what the best settings were and said it to that and it looks pretty good to me it’s not 60 frames all the time or 30 frames but the main thing that I like about Starfield on the steam deck is it doesn’t require Internet play it on the go. I recently bought Hogwarts Legacy and that game I can get 60 frames and HDR but I can also play it on the go without Internet. I like that a lot some games on the Nintendo switch still require Internet to be able to play them on the go, like snow runner if you download modes trucks, and then you go somewhere without Internet, you can’t use your mod trucks without Internet on the Nintendo switch, but if you have them on the steam deck, you can use them when you don’t have Internet and I really like that I wish that I could transfer my Game Pass Starfield game saves to my Nintendo switch. I looked up a video on how to do it, but it looks confusing as hell.
My Steam Deck Vibration motors stop working, the weird part is that I can feel the haptic of the trackpad, and the 3.5 jack never worked, but I live in Dominican Republic so no option for me to send the unit to repair or warranty. I got it on December 2022, but apart of that Im happy with my Steam Deck (64GB version)
I wanted to see if I could use a Steam Deck as a laptop replacement, and since I''ve got it I have barely used my tower PC (mostly because I also got a small PV setup and wanted to see if I could get through the summer off grid, and the Steam Deck sips power compared to my PC). There's a couple things that bother me, software-wise, because of the immutable FS, so I don't have things like tmux and other terminal-only applications, but for productivity... OBS works, Shotcut works, Krita works, and for 90% of the rest of my work I use web apps so there's very little I can't do with the Steam Deck. Pretty remarkable for a thing that was basically sold to me as a gaming console.
I’ve had a 64gb lcd deck the since Feb 2024 paired with a 128gb sd card and I still haven’t changed the SSD lol. I haven’t really needed to since I only play 1-3 games a time.
I was ok with paying a little more out of the gate. But i would like to see a more powerful steam deck. That being said I can't afford to keep console hopping.... so when the next bigger badder steam deck comes out, i won't be buying it.
If a Deck "Lite" existed, i dont know if its worth the logistics for a SKU like that, if you slim it down you lose what it is, those trackpads are functionality items, now they could be swapped for small tiny "thumb squares" for basic mouse movement for optional things, and it would be a nice option for a deck just for emulation, but really thats where the afterlife of a deck is once a new one exists. As for the future, Honestly come to think of it, if they can get away with x4 higher performance cores as the limitation is the GPU, and primary focus on battery for this reason (adding more cores saps power) but i think mostly ill like to see a partnership with framework, as valve is sneakily moving the gamers to linux, and then there is a base to get parts and ease of maintenance even upgrading for the future, I can see x2 removable type-C style adapters fitting on this as it is and extend functionality for other things, and i would like to see a door for the m.2 drive for anyone to replace, (they can also just have one baseline sku here as well, the less sku's the less it costs for production.
We need a premium steam deck. 780m graphics or better. Better cooling and battery. Keep the oled bump it to 1200p vrr. Dual usb 4. I would sell my other handhelds to buy one.
LOL Cold Stream know it's Carol Stream Illinois. I was excited to find that out cuz I'm in Chicago I got my steam deck nice and quick the original 64 gig and the new OLED
I'd love to see sales and returns figures to the 64GB model. It should never have existed, pretty much DOA unless you're willing to mod it as you discussed. They should've sold it without any storage at all and marketed it as a kit or something. Re the OS, I would never trust Valve to properly maintain it given the jankiness of Steam itself and their general untrustworthiness when it comes to game/product/feature announcements, but thankfully SteamOS is mostly open source, so the community kinda does that for me alongside whatever Valve does. I'd say that Decky is pretty much essential for that reason. You won't ever catch me on any update stream other than "stable", but even "stable" updates have bricked the OS a couple of times for me. Re the "full release" of SteamOS... well the community has also sort of done that already in the form of Chimera, but I bet the real problem is Nvidia.

@GIJosep you have multiple sd cards get case and label them that what I do
29 same boat
31 with LCD ver 😅
I think the majority of people don't want a slim steam deck. What they want is bigger battery and faster cpu/gpu.
32 gm ram please!
100% true
The OLED wasn't an increased price. It replaced the 256gb and 500gb models
They also increased the storage of the 64gb tier to 256gb
I sold my ps5 bought a steam deck about a month ago made the right choice.
Just got my steam deck OLED two days ago. I love it, best purchase ever.
Steam Deck FOREVER

Got my 1TB OLED a month back and it's awesome. But hit the nail on the head with themes! Give us themes and abilities to customize how it looks please!
Valve definitely knows there's a market for it because of decky loader so i think it's gonna happen at some point

Pretty sure they are working on a deck 2 rather than a bunch of themes
The original 64GB version of the Steam deck has a flash memory (eMMC) with m.2 format, it was like a USB memory stick in a PCI-E slot. That's why there's a lot of improvement when changing to any SSD in the same form factor.

Thankfully my Limited Edition OLED Steam Deck did not crack and I ended up taking it apart since I got it, so the screws should not be too tight now either. It works great still.
I didn't think the slim steam deck would work we techys love our features & power. I honestly doubt they will lower the price for the track pads.
Text and being able to read it is essential in a lot of games.
