Hey Legends, thanks for clicking onto the video, it means a lot. Today is the premier episode of WILD DICE, a collaborative effort between me and three absolute legends of the community. Today we are vaguely discussing the current state of Warcry now that we are around 3 months into the NEW META that formed around the April FAQ.

I love you guys :-D Thanks for your videos, your work and keep up the good work :)
I've played Kill Team in the past, I play LOTR and I feel the same way. I enjoy Warcry a lot, I enjoy playing it with my friends at home in the living room and having fun. Same with going to a tournament at a local game store and playing with complete strangers and enjoying the game. Warcry does that very well. I've started a bit of 40K now, so hopefully I won't be disappointed :-P But that doesn't belong here. Warcry is fun even for people who aren't normally into miniatures games. A work colleague of mine started playing it, I even dragged her to a tournament. That's just awesome :) Sorry for the long message and hopefully my English is at least a little bit readable :-D

There was a lot of talk about casual and fun play. Yet the focus on your content (at least what i saw from Toast and Off Meta Musings) is on competetive.
While it is very interesting and entertaining, it is to me kinda confusing when you guys talk about the strength and weaknes of a warband. When the Warband alone is discussed, they get praised really well like the Claws of Kharanak or Askurgan Trueblades. But in Tier lists, they have been badmouthed.
Then, there is the talk about, "well everything is playable, as long as you have fun and know what you are doing"
And then, i watch other content creators, who made a tier list for casuals (like me) who had not only a very very different opinions, but also stated on some factions and models the completely opposide.
This hard metronom of opinions makes it for me hard to find a middle ground.
I dont want to chase the meta, but i want to understand how the game works and what is "strong" and was is "weak".

Opinions change over time. When I did content on Claws and Askurgans I was more positive. As time went on, I found them lacking on the tabletop.
Opinions are also like asses, everyone has one. Me and Offmeta have content focused on competitive because that’s what most people seem to want.
Warcry is a complex game with almost 70 factions. Sadly this leads to all kinds of confusion even for us! Haha

So speaking from my point of view specifically; when I do warband reviews by themselves, im looking from a perspective of 'you like this warband so I'm going to show you how to get the most out of it, which fighters are the better ones, etc'. That's great if you want to play casually because most of the time you are playing a warband because you like it and not necessarily because your goal is to do well in events. The problem comes when you apply that to the wider pool of available warbands where there is totally a difference between the power level of those at the top and those at the bottom of the pile, and even within the same warband, if you want to play solo faction or take allies.
I think a good example that me and toast did was our tierlist for the post-April format; IIRC we went through each warband and went a little bit into why they are placed where they were - that helps give a handle on where warbands fit in overall power whereas the how to play videos give a view on how warbands work internally.
And yeah, there seems to be totally less of an appetite on YT for more casual focused content; It seems like even casual players like to know whats strong/whats not and how comp play is doing but not necessarily the other way around for comp players; It's a pretty big thing to take into account when each 20 minute video represents 3-4 actual hours of work XD
