  • This is from a bikepacking trip I did this year in mid March.
    The route that I followed was found on bikepacking.com and is called The Fool's Loop. Thanks to Ray Hemmele and Erick at the Bicycle Nomad Café in Phoenix for putting this route together!
    Its a great route and logistically easy to plan because the start and end of the route is in Phoenix Arizona.

    Day 3 is online, so I if you liked this one, please check it out. • Bikepacking the Fools ...

    Wow that tunnel under the dam was awesome, and Snickers rule! You should bring a buddy next time, I’d be too scared lol all alone.

      Yeah that was really cool, never been through a tunnel like that. I'm from NYC, so I'm the scariest thing here for miles 😂. Ok but seriously I should at least start carry a gps spot tracker with sos button, I rented one for a different trip I took in the past and its good insurance for family.

      Long hikes and scuba diving are two things I just won't do alone. I'm like you, too scar...er... cautious.

    I am from Prescott, Arizona...I am now your new best fan...I have 40,000 miles on 5 different touring bicycles commuting and touring. I am riding a Surly Troll with XT components, a Rogue Panda road closure frame bag and two Carridice Camper Longflap Saddle Bags. . .I use a Carridice Longflap bag as a Handle bar roller bag . . .what allows this to work is I am using butterfly handlebars the stem riser, so my Carridice Camper Longflap bag don't hit my front wheel...I am Friar Rodney Burnap...a mendicant Friar, we, my brothers and I travel and live off our bikes . . .

      Haha.. Thanks! Sounds really cool! Would love to see a video or picture of your setup. Just based off your touring mileage alone, you are definitely more experienced at it than myself, I hope to be able to do more bikepacking /biketouring trips in the future! Thanks for subscribing!

    I have been looking at 2 routes in AZ the Gila River Ramble and this one, but the river crossing gave this route a big boost for me....Love to be around water in the desert.

    • @PrentissC
      @PrentissC  5 лет назад

      Yeah I had a filter on me, so I never ran out of water, but there is no guarantee that it will be this wet when and if you do this route. I've read accounts of other people that did this route during drier times and they weren't as lucky.

      @@PrentissC Coming from Tucson AZ streams do not flow year around in the desert like the ones you crossed, you pick a great time to do the trip not long after a rainstorm and with monsoon season fast approaching they will flow again.

    Pretty sick I came across your vids! I’m planning on doing the Fools Loop around February or March, and looking to add the Idaho Hot Springs loop this summer too! You have awesome vids, and love the music! I travel around in an RV and ride around the country.. if you’re ever looking for a riding buddy or just a place to crash hit me up.. keep up the good work!

      I manually controlled the drone for those shots where its flying backwards, and I used "follow me" for the other shots. Using a dji mavic pro

    Can fools loop be done on a gravel bike?

    • @PrentissC
      @PrentissC  4 года назад

      It can be... if that's all you have . The guy that created the route seems to have done it on a gravel bike,you'd have to walk or go slower in certain areas, but you'd be faster in others. Personally I wouldn't do it on a gravel bike, the route can get rough in certain areas, and I just think it would be more fun on a mtb imo.

      also, dunno if u have a geared bike- but how did u like bikepacking with a SS? Did you ever wish for gears?

    • @PrentissC
      @PrentissC  5 лет назад

      @@BAR_27 the second day of this trip was mostly climbing so I definitely wished for gears that day lol. I've been riding ss for years so its made me pretty strong, but anything that I can't ride, I just hike. The black canyon trail on the 3rd and 4th day is very doable with ss because there is more downs than ups(heading south to Phoenix). I do ride geared as well, my last bike tour was geared, but my only mountain bike at the moment is ss.
