Excellent videos! Good camera shots and very clearly explained. Many years ago I remember calling repair guy out. He charged me around $100 to replace that cheap 7 dollar thermal fuse and it only took him less than 15 min. That is when I decided I need to do my own washer and dryer repairs. My dryer is about 25 years old and I average replacing something on it every 3 or 4 years. I never can remember exactly how I fixed it the years before without reviewing internet and notes etc. Your 2 videos are the best by far and will be all I need the next time I need a refresher course. Thanks!
Thank you! First time home owner, moved into the house for about 5 months, the seller left behind the dryer it,s been working fine till 2 weeks ago. I've saved over $165 having someone over to fix it or getting a new dryer! My dryer didn't heat up, I replaced the solenoid $20, cleaned my dryer throughly. It's working now! This is the best video so far after searching for awhile, didn't help with the issue, I like your step by step showing how to find the problems and fixing it! Great job!
Chris, you are a ROCK STAR! I went to a local appliance parts store and picked up a pair of solenoids for $24, installed them after performing the trouble shooting steps in the first of your videos. You hit the nail right on the head in the second video and upon installing the new parts, my dryer worked beautifully! You saved me about $400 because if this had not worked, my wife would have gone out and purchased a new dryer! You have an awesome talent that I cannot thank you enough for sharing with us out here in do-it-yourself land. I subscribed to your channel and will be investigating what other repair advice you have in store. Outstanding job sir and thank you a million times over for your excellent videos!
Chris, you are good man! I bought a pair of solenoids for $9.40 at Amazon.com, installed them after performing the trouble shooting steps in the first of your videos. You hit the nail on the second video and upon installing the new parts, my dryer worked beautifully! You saved me about $584.00 because it this had not work, I would have gone out and purchased a new dryer! You have an awesome talent that I cannot thank enough for sharing with us. Outstanding job man and thank you for your excellent video. I had this problem; I turn dryer on, I see the glow, solenoid clicks and there is flame. About 35-45 seconds later the gas shuts off. No flame. If I restart the dryer it does the same thing. New solenoids fix it! Than you again.
Dude. You're a lifesaver! It was the thermostat next to the burner. This is the only video that talks about that thermostat. I almost gave up on my dryer until I saw this video. You saved me a ton of money!!! Thanks a lot!!!
DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are a freaking LIFESAVER!!! I did exactly what you said, and tested the thermal fuse breaker. I replaced it with a 3 or 4 dollar replacement. BOOM! the dryer is operating just like new. Thank you for doing this video.
I needed to have the dryer fixed and didn't have 100 to 200 dollars to spend on it. Googled and found your video. I followed it step by step and found the problem in the front of the dryer. There was no click. Purchased the part, put it in, plugged it in and turned it on. Then removed the peep hole on the bottom left and watched and listened. I saw the pink glow and shortly there after i heard the click and the gas flame on. We have 4 babies under 2 years old and 6 children under 7 years old. This was a life saver. I spent less than $25 for the two parts. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you
I NEVER leave comments, but I have to say after watching close to 30 videos on dryer issues, yours was the one that solved the problem! Mine would initially heat, but then it would turn off and not heat anymore. (The "glow" would happen, the gas just wouldn't ignite) So, off to change the solenoid! Thanks so much for posting this. Saved me hundreds of dollars I'm sure!
I've now used these videos (part 1 and 2) TWICE to fix my dryer. Last year it was the fuse in the back, and this time it's the flame sensor thermostat (the very last thing Chris shows beneath the drum). Well done, and much appreciated, Chris!
I paid a guy $180 to replace the exact solenoids you show in the video. I watched part 1 of this video, and ruled out problems with the part. I failed to watch this video, and called a repair dude. That was a mistake. I saw the price on the solenoids he used--$24 for both of them. DANG. Watch all the video parts. I could have saved some serious coin!! The upside is that we have a working dryer again, and it was still less expensive than a new dryer. Thanks for making this video, we need to start fixing things instead of throwing them away. Strong work!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I'll start out by saying I've replaced my washer THREE times and dryer TWO times in 12 years! My dryer stopped heating yesterday and I couldn't see spending money to replace it yet AGAIN. I found your video and followed your steps and it turned out to be the rear thermostat. Cost me $20! Now I understand how they work AND how to trouble shoot the basics.....seriously THANK YOU!
After watching your video, I took a chance and tested my circuits and found the bad part and ordered one for $5 and got it on today. We have heat!! Thank you for showing me how easy it was to fix it myself, saved me a lot of $$.
Thanks so much for all your help! I had the components on the back checked and they were all good. So I bought the solenoid coils and replaced them. Dryer works perfect now! My hubby was soooo impressed that I fixed it on my own - all thanks to your video!! Thank you!
Thanks Chris for the dryer fix walkthrough. I was having a problem with my dryer not heating and after checking out your first video and everything checked out, I watched this one. After noticing it wasn't glowing, I checked the continuity on the ignitor and there wasn't any. After taking it out I noticed the element that heats up was cracked. Oh, and my dryer is a Whirlpool but all the elements should be about the same on any gas dryer like this. Thanks again, man.
Watched your video. Pulled out my dryer; cleaned and dismantled it. Narrowed the potential problem down to the "thermal fuse." (At least that's what the bag containing the new part is labeled). Purchased the part for $10 dollars. Replaced the part and the dryer is well, drying. Your video saved me a minimum of $80 for the repairman house call. I'm certain it would have been well over a hundred bucks. Thank you!!!!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. As stated in your video you probably just saved my family at least $200. Fix wasn't difficult at all. Probably most time consuming part was disconnecting the "open/shut door sensor". I just couldn't get it disconnected and video wasn't clear how you so easily did it. I was worried about breaking it so took my time. But now it's done and dryer is working again. Thanks for listing the parts and parts numbers. I was able to go to my local Sears Parts & Repair store and pick them up earlier today. Paid a little more than ordering from Amazon but zero waiting! Entire fix was about $40 (I picked up a new exhaust tube as well). Again, thank you and God bless!
Great instructional video. I have a similar dryer 60 series kenmore and similar problem. Replaced the solenoids and dryer worked fine.Saved me a lot of money and wait time for a repairman .Dryer was fixed the same day it broke down.Getting the solenoids from a closest parts store was what took a lot of time. This video provided great instruction in narrowing down where the problem is., Thanks
I have a Kenmore 80 series gas dryer, two years ago I replaced the over temp sensor thanks to your tutorial, however this wee it was blowing cold air. I checked all the thermostats and were good continuity. All seemed to work just fine but after a few minutes nothing but cold air again. Today checking the glow (which was fine) but no flame, I purchased two solenoids as they come in a pair, re assembled it and its been working like a "charm" Also splurged on new ducts and cleaned all the remaining lint. Your tutorial was excellent and much appreciated THANKS. By the way the Kenmore 80 has the solenoids up front just like in your video.
You usually wont get the glow or click when the thermal fuse is bad (it is a fail-safe to protect from fires and stuff). And you are spot on with your last statement. If you dont get a glow (assuming the fuses and thermostats are ok) then its prob the ignitor. If the ignitor is glowing but there are no clicks, its prob the solenoid. Only way to know for sure is to test them with an ohm meter.
Outstanding information. I completed all of the trouble shooting steps from the first video and found continuity tests to be in good working order. Now I am moving on to the front of the dryer. I can see that the heating element is getting red hot but only once did I hear the click attributable with a functioning gas solenoid when I turned the control knob to the highest temperature setting. After hearing it click on once, it never repeated the performance and hence, I believe we have our culprit. I am going to replace it and we can see if it works! Really awesome video, both the first and this one because while I am an avid do-it-yourself type, the lack of frequency in performing dryer repairs means that I basically must reinvent the wheel, so to speak, each time I perform repairs on our washers and dryers. Your videos have helped accomplish that feat in remarkably short order because they are short but very effective. Nicely done sir!
Your video lead me to my solution. My dryer would dry clothes for the first 5 mins and then not heat anymore. The igniter would glow and the solenoids would "click" but no gas was released. The solenoids metered ok on my fluke, but I decided to order them and replace. Part # 279834. After S&H it was about $16 to fix. Dryer good as new again!
I have used Pt 1 & Pt 2 twice, once for my own dryer and one for a lawn customer ( I looked like a god!!! in her eyes) Just sent it to a deaf friend and she was able to follow your video okay.
Thank you! There were no issues after your first video. Everything checked out. Based on your troubleshooting, I was able to determine that it was a bad solenoid. FYI: change the settings on your DMM to make sure they are good.
Already a subscriber for your more recent videos but found this video after my dryer stopped heating. Checked my solenoids (one didn’t have continuity!) and found replacements for $10 on Amazon. Fixed my problem and saved me hundreds! Thank you!
Thanks for your quick response! I took all of the components off the back of the dryer and am taking them to a local appliance repair shop tomorrow to have them test them - I don't have a multimeter. I can also purchase the failed component their as well. If the components all pass the test then I think I will buy the solenoid sand bring them home and hope that fixes the problem. I wii report back! Thanks for your help!
Good video. Unfortunately, none of these things fixed the problem with my dryer. In case anyone else has a similar problem, my issue was that the heater relay was bad. The dryer was not heating, the igniter wasn't lighting up, but all the components seemed fine. Replaced the heater relay and I'm back in business.
Dude thank you so much! My dryer's problem was the solenoids, got them ebay for $8 and now it's rocking like a champ. I even took the opportunity to clean the heck out of it :) Thanks again!
thanks for the response. Yeah, I tested it last night, and after an hour testing all the thermostat and fuses, found out that the hi-limit thermostat, would open at around 170F (too early, should be 205F), and then will close at round 80F, then gas cycles again, just takes time, took about every 8-10mins. I put a jumper, to confirm, and the gas stays on. New thermostat is on its way. I though it was was the solenoid to, I'm glad I did tested each sensors. Thanks! I
Chris, great video, I discovered one more thing that can go wrong besides the problems you mentioned. Apparently, the chemicals from dryer sheets can build up on the moisture sensor and the burner doesn't turn on. The dryer worked in timed dry but not in auto moisture sensing. Thanks for making everything clear and understandable.
You can do it yourself. If you watch both parts 1 and 2 all you need is a screwdriver, ratchet set, and a volt-meter. In total it would cost you $30 for the tools if you had to buy everything. Then watch the video and do what I do. The parts that need to be replaced usually cost $20. For example, your solenoids cost $20 online. It is easy to do. Let me know if you have any questions. Anyone can do this!
Awesome video. simple and straight to the point. My dryer would fire twice but then stop at the third time. I followed the steps in the back panel everything checked out. Moved to the front. I tested the coils for continuity, they seemed ok. I got two new coils from a local store and the guy told me that the coils could check ok but still be bad. He said that the coils will get hot from the burner and go open but then after cooling close back up to normal. This was my fix. Thanks to this video by ChrisFix. Side note: this was a good thing because I was shocked at how much lint accumulated inside of the dryer. I had no idea because we clean the filter before each cycle. I will clean my dryer inside at least every couple of years from now on.
You saved me $400-16.66= $383.34 !!! Thanks for the very helpful video. I have the Kenmore 500 series gas dryer. I had the glow but there wasn't a click or ignition. Twas a bad solenoid, easy to change took 20 minutes total to finish thanks to your video. Can't say thank you enough. Take care
Nevermind, it was self sabatage lol. After putting it together the first time I didn't get one of the fasteners on front panel secured right. I took apart and didn't plug in the door switch upon putting together last time. Problem resolved !
Thanks a ton, sir, for this tutorial! $25 to fix my dryer. I just needed to match the solenoids with the model number and good to go. Save money and learn something in the process. Respect.
Thank you so much for this! Everything checked out,but the igniter was reading 160ohm. It seems according to Kenmores site the igniter should read between 50 & 400! I ordered a new one for $14 and it now works! I was lucky to find a small open end wrench as I could not fit a socket, nor had room for a driver!
Chris, You da Man! Great video, saved me some bucks! Thanks for the straight to the point, no stupid music, no non sense approach to changing out my Kenmore 400 series gas dryer's coils. My dryer is up and running like a champ. Couldn't have done it without this video! ~Aloha
Chris, that third piece of equipment is called a flame sensor. Although it does seem to act like a thermostat. I have a thermostat on the tube that surrounds the flame along with a thermostat and a thermistor on the out going vent from the blower. Very good video as always I enjoy them all.
Thanks a lot for the tip on how to fix the Gas Dryer... This came really handy, I was able to fix our gas dryer within 20 minutes after looking at your video... Very Nice.
Thank you for putting this video together. In the past I had to replace the sensors. However this time I think it is the solenoid. You saved me so much time.
Thank you for saving me a few hundred dollars. I have a whirlpool cabrio and it was identical to your dryer. I followed your steps and had the same defective part. Thank you again.
No, if the igniter is glowing, it is working. If you tested everything else like in part one, I think it is the solenoids. They should click which means it is letting the gas though. Its an easy cheap fix.
Hey Chris.........just thought I'd let you know that just by watching your repair video that there are other parts unknown to me that can also can be replaced.Not.knowing about the fuses alone, can be guess work at it's best.....Great job!!.
Boom, everything is fixed. Good thing was everything was still working. My problem was probably a loose or corroded connector. Unplugging everything probably fixed it. I did the front and rear which also gave me time to vacuum all the lint and collect the loose change and paper clips. Dryer fires are very common and it's a great idea to keep the vents clean.
Thanks! I was able to fix the dryer and save a few $ and I gained some knowledge. I have a Whirlpool /gas dryer. Everything works but no heat. glows but does not ignite (no click). Found out that it was a bad solenoid. You can get this from Amazon for less than $10, Coil Valve part# 279834. Testing the old and comparing it with the new coil valve using the ohm meter set at 2000. The old three prong valve, has a no reading with prong 1,2 and 2,3. Hope this info helps.
me my girl watched your video a few times and fixed are old kitchenaid superba. it cost us 16$. we don't know how to thank you, we went to our local home center :-) that orange whare house place and they said O just by a new 1, we dont have that kinda of money so we told all our friends about your chanel . thanks a million Joe
Thanks Chris this video was great. My husband and friend fixed the dryer and now I can dry my clothes at home! Great video and very helpful and easy to follow!
excellent description, great video close-ups, great explanation. Thank you so much. You just saved me at least $100+ on labor plus the 3X mark-up on the part which was a thermal fuse costing me only $10.95. Highly recommended site
Thanks for the video. I have an old dryer (Montgomery Ward - green in color) and it has this problem but at that time, ChrisFix still in 6th grade. I throw that dryer away but what a Shame, all i need is the 279834 Dryer Gas Valve Ignition Solenoid which cost $5 - $10.
i think i am just going to order the thermostats & test it out, i was told that i have to order the parts specific for the model dryer i have. i found a web site(repair clinic) that will take back a part even after i use it. i am also going to order the cycling thermostat just in case. if these dont solve the problem, i will focus on parts from your 2nd video. the good thing is that if the thermostats dont solve my problem i will be able to return them, thanks for writing back & making the video
Thanks! Well done video's. I've watched a bunch after picking up a dryer on Craigslist. Some very professional videos but you while being professional are much easier to understand, so again thank you!
Great video. Simple fix! Although, when using the multimeter on the Thermal fuse, you said the wire connectors were hard to remove, so I left them on and got a false reading. Tested every thing else as you did and of course couldn't find the cause, Took the back panel off again and did it the right way and it was the thermal fuse. Short cuts make the job longer. Thanks saved me $$$$$
Awesome video, ChrisFix! William, Thank you for putting the "false reading" information here! I did the same thing with the thermal fuse initially and it read it was working. I did not want to take the front off. I started reading and read your comment. I went back and removed the covers to the thermal fuse and then it showed it was bad. I am looking now to find a place with the fuse because Home Depot doesn't carry them. I may have to wait until Monday. But I am so glad you wrote that about the false reading!! Thank you!!!!
Xro X Glad my laziness helped out someone! I made a 10 minute job into 3 hours. After not finding the thermal fuse problem, took the front panel off and didn't find a problem so I had to take the back off for a second time. Also, the amount of lint in the blower housing and duct was the reason for the failure. Clean it as suggested. :)
Thanks, Chris! Great explanation. You really helped me troubleshoot & find that my solenoids were bad. Everything is working well, now. Much appreciation!
Thank you Chris, part 1 and part 2 were very very helpful. turned out to be the cilinoids were bad and i figured it out thanks to your helpful and detailed videos. Thanks for your help, really saved us some dough!!! You are doing a service and great at it, keep it up...
Excellent video! Hope my experience helps someone... my gas coils would work for a few cycles then they'd stop making the click noise and they'd make a faint roaring sound instead of the click sound (not same sound as open gas valve). Weird right? I'd have a great orange glow from the ignitor but no flame. After going to the big box appliance store and looking at the $600 plus pricing on the el-cheapo gas dryers I figured I'd check the resistance on the gas coils, easy to get to on this Kenmore. The 2 pin had 1400 ohms but then on the 3 pin coil I'd get 1400 ohms on the left and center pins (facing the pins) and I'd get 1400 ohms on the right and center pins but then after a couple seconds I'd get OL (open line, no continuity) on the right and center pins. Talk about excited. I verified this with a friend and he said that's not normal. Off to the parts house I go for a set of new coils and $27 later I'm drying clothes again!
Thanks, dude, this was a big help! One thing people should know is that igniters are VERY delicate, so one needs to be very careful if replacing that part! Don't ask me how I know this...
Thanks that is my goal! No need to over-complicate things. The idea is after watching this, anyone could do it! Thumbs-up the video if you havent already, it helps me out! Thanks
I couldnt tell you for sure because I cannot check it myself but I have a feeling it is the thermostat. Just search for it on amazon. If it is cheap, I would get one. If it was my dryer, that is what I would do. The thermostat is probably not working properly so even though it has a positive reading on the multi-meter, when it heats up, it gets messed up. What happens if you start the dryer, let it do its cycle until it wont light up again. Then shut it off, and restart the cycle? Does it light?
I love your videos, They are quick and to the point! I get the flame but it goes away after a few minutes, everything in the back checks, fuse, thermostats etc. Vent is clear. If the solenoid is for the click, I do get that and the flame. So what gives? Ahhhhh I just noticed the front thermostat you mentioned here. Most likley. Thanks again.
No prob. Might want to invest in a multimeter... Only $10. Maybe your local repair shop wont charge you too much... Def let me know if you have any more questions and if you get it working! Good Luck!
very practical to follow, I watched the 1st video last night and test all the thermostat and the fuse are all good. Hope the gas solenoid/coil that are bad! Thanks a bunch!
Bad solenoids. Your video saved me needing to buy a new dryer. Thanks a lot, very clear directions. It's the exact same setup on my Maytag. You weren't kidding about those sharp edges either. I cut the sh&t out of my finger despite your warning!
My Samsung is front loading so I took top off & ran dryer (disclaimer: don't attempt): 1.👂🏽click & waited 10sec; 2.👀ignitor glowed in reflection; 3.👂🏽gas ignited & sustained 8sec; 4.👂🏽click, gas flame off; 5.👂🏽unproductive clicks & buzzes +60sec; 6.1-5. repeated. Drum barely gets warm. It could be consistent with the high limit thermostat, but the old one had continuity. In fact, I cleaned/changed *everything* even though all old parts tested good. New coils (same as Maytag FYI) seemed to help(?). $15 used Maytag valve (reused adapter) seemed to work for a few days. I'll take it apart tomorrow, re-test the new parts installed and check for loose wires. If not, maybe it's the panel?? 🤯 Update: Added a couple of washers to step back the high limit thermostat ~1/4" from the flame and it stays on long enough to dry the clothes.
Chris! I didn't realize it was you. -I though you only fixed cars. So I'm watching these two videos, give them a thumbs up, and conclude this guy deserves a SUBSCRIBE. But "SUBSCRIBED" is grayed out? What? Then I actually look and see it's you! Oh duh. As always, great stuff. Thanks.
Bro!! First you fixed my car now my dryer…. Damn the service you provide has no limits..Thanks man.
It may be 9 years old video but you helped me fix the dryer. It was weak solenoids. Got new ones from Amazon for $9 and it worked. Thanks

Just wanted to say "Thanks". With Parts 1 & 2 help, I fixed our Kenmore dryer in 2 hrs including "parts run' for $32.

Very helpful. My husband and I are not normally DIY types, but we followed your instructions and avoided a huge expense. Thanks so much!

Thank you! My dad and I managed to troubleshoot and fix my dryer with your very clear guidance. Great video.
Perfect! It is usually the solenoids in the case you mentioned when everything else checks out!
Chris, You are my favorite...you explain things in the order of my thought process and exude confidence to tackle it and "done"!
Thanks a lot!
You are one amazing guy. You have a love for fixing problems, while the rest of us cower in fear. Thanks so much!!! Keep'm coming Chris.
I fixed ours for $6 parts from ebay. Solenoid went bad with our Frigidaire dryer. Thank you so much Mr ChrisFix for sharing this video. God bless you.
+triTube70 AWESOME! Glad the video was helpful and nice work!
Patrick Minns Thank you Patrick. I would say it is your solenoids so let me know if that fixes it! Thanks for the feedback!
Extraordinary Helpful just invested in a 100 plus meter and I’m about go figure it out. Thank You So Very Much !
The man fixes my cars and my dryers. Always great content!
What is the DMM?

Thank you for this video Chris it cost me $20 to fix my dryer in about an hour and you also helped me recharge a car air conditioning system thank you
I even took the opportunity to clean the heck out of it :)
Thanks again!
Carlos Zelaya No problem Carlos! I love hearing success stories! Glad you got the dryer working again!
As usual. Mechanical. Batteries tie rods. Dryers. The list goes on. You explain it best. Thanks Chris
I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, I tried other wed sites but they were to confusing, this was extremely helpful and easy!!!!!
+Dave Rudy Awesome Dave! Glad it was helpful!
thanks for the response. Thanks! I
You did great job and helped me to fix my dryer. My wife wanted to buy a new one instead I bought a small part and it was back in business again.
+Mike Anderson Awesome Mike! I am glad the video was helpful!!!
Take care
AWESOME! Happy to hear I helped save you big bucks!
Well darn it, I guess I celebrated too soon. Went to go use my newly fixed dryer and now it won't turn on. Any suggestions?
Nevermind, it was self sabatage lol. After putting it together the first time I didn't get one of the fasteners on front panel secured right. I took apart and didn't plug in the door switch upon putting together last time. Problem resolved !
Haha, good! Glad you figured it out!
Thanks a ton, sir, for this tutorial! $25 to fix my dryer. I just needed to match the solenoids with the model number and good to go. Save money and learn something in the process. Respect.
SWEET! Glad the video was helpful! Remember to give the video a "thumbs up" (it helps me out, Thanks)!
Thanks for the vid. I followed and was able to solve the issue. DIY channels like this are an invaluable tool to the community. Thanks again
Glad you learned something!
Great! Nothing better than saving some money and the feeling of accomplishment of fixing it yourself!
Hey Chris, came here for my dryer and come to find out you're a car guy as well. Sweet!
Chris,
You da Man! Great video, saved me some bucks! Thanks for the straight to the point, no stupid music, no non sense approach to changing out my Kenmore 400 series gas dryer's coils. My dryer is up and running like a champ. Couldn't have done it without this video!
~Aloha
Awesome! That is the goal of my videos! Glad you liked the video and you fixed your dryer!
Video is great. even 6 years later. gave me exactly what i needed
Watched the series part 1 and 2 and was able to repair my daughters dryer. Who knew it was so easy
Mate 123456 Awesome! That is the idea! Glad the video was helpful!
Thanks Chris, just fixed my dryer for $24 worth of parts. YOU ROCK!!!
Chris Travers AWESOME! Glad the video was helpful Chris!
Chris, that third piece of equipment is called a flame sensor. Although it does seem to act like a thermostat. I have a thermostat on the tube that surrounds the flame along with a thermostat and a thermistor on the out going vent from the blower. Very good video as always I enjoy them all.
My Boi went from helping me change my rotors to fix my dryer. Love you man.!!!
Thanks a lot for the tip on how to fix the Gas Dryer... This came really handy, I was able to fix our gas dryer within 20 minutes after looking at your video... Very Nice.
Great! Glad the video helped you fix your dryer!
Thank you for putting this video together. In the past I had to replace the sensors. However this time I think it is the solenoid. You saved me so much time.
+Richard Hornback Awesome! Glad the video was helpful!
Awesome!!! Great job and thanks for the comment! These two videos are helping a lot of people and I love hearing it!!!!
Thank you for saving me a few hundred dollars. I have a whirlpool cabrio and it was identical to your dryer. I followed your steps and had the same defective part. Thank you again.
No problem! Glad my video was able to teach you how to diagnose your dryer and save you money!
No, if the igniter is glowing, it is working. If you tested everything else like in part one, I think it is the solenoids. They should click which means it is letting the gas though. Its an easy cheap fix.
Thanks Chris. Learnt more about Troubleshooting than in my years in College. 😂😂😂😂
Followed the video and checked different components, went out and purchased the thermal fuse and WA-LA I got a flame. Thanks for the informative video
Fantastic videos. Fixed dryer in 2 hours. Saved buying a new dryer. Thanks
Hey Chris.........just thought I'd let you know that just by watching your repair video that there are other parts unknown to me that can also can be replaced.Not.knowing about the fuses alone, can be guess work at it's best.....Great job!!.
Thanks!
Thanks again brother. I really thought I was finally going to see your face. From Trinidad 🇹🇹 with great respect.
Thanks for all the help - was able to follow directions and fix the problem - was about to buy a new dryer, but you just saved me about $400.00 -- :)
Good job. Helped me troubleshoot and fix my dryer without the expensive repairman. Thanks.
me my girl watched your video a few times and fixed are old kitchenaid superba. it cost us 16$. we don't know how to thank you, we went to our local home center :-) that orange whare house place and they said O just by a new 1, we dont have that kinda of money so we told all our friends about your chanel . thanks a million Joe
No problem! Thanks for the comment and I am glad the video helped save you money and hopefully you learned something new!
we sure did
Thanks Chris this video was great. My husband and friend fixed the dryer and now I can dry my clothes at home!
Great video and very helpful and easy to follow!
lsherry0406 Awesome! Glad the video was helpful, you learned something new, and saved a lot of money!
excellent description, great video close-ups, great explanation. Thank you so much. You just saved me at least $100+ on labor plus the 3X mark-up on the part which was a thermal fuse costing me only $10.95. Highly recommended site
Thanks a lot! Comments like this make shooting these videos worth it!!! Glad you fixed your problem!
Thanks for the video. I have an old dryer (Montgomery Ward - green in color) and it has this problem but at that time, ChrisFix still in 6th grade. I throw that dryer away but what a Shame, all i need is the 279834 Dryer Gas
Valve Ignition Solenoid which cost $5 - $10.
Thanks! I replaced my solenoids yesterday and the dryer works perfectly again! Your video was a big help! Have a great day!
ds2227 Great! Glad the video was helpful!
i think i am just going to order the thermostats & test it out, i was told that i have to order the parts specific for the model dryer i have. i found a web site(repair clinic) that will take back a part even after i use it. i am also going to order the cycling thermostat just in case. if these dont solve the problem, i will focus on parts from your 2nd video. the good thing is that if the thermostats dont solve my problem i will be able to return them, thanks for writing back & making the video
Thanks! Well done video's. I've watched a bunch after picking up a dryer on Craigslist. Some very professional videos but you while being professional are much easier to understand, so again thank you!
+Kirk Ramanauskas Glad the videos are helpful!!!
Thanks saved me $$$$$
William McKenna Glad the video helped you save money and yea, never take short cuts. They will make it longer in the end lol
This video was very informative and yet very simple, turns out it was the thermal fuse and the gas coils (solenoids)..You Rock !!!!
Diante Green Great! Glad the video was helpful!
Thanks, Chris! Great explanation. You really helped me troubleshoot & find that my solenoids were bad. Everything is working well, now. Much appreciation!
Awesome! Glad the video helped and you got your dryer working!!!
That one black component you were calling a thermostat is actually a flame detector. Just wanted to clarify. Great video none the less.
Thank you Chris, part 1 and part 2 were very very helpful. turned out to be the cilinoids were bad and i figured it out thanks to your helpful and detailed videos. Thanks for your help, really saved us some dough!!! You are doing a service and great at it, keep it up...
Excellent! Glad the videos helped! Thanks for the comment, makes making these videos worth it when I get feedback like this!
Thank you Chris, I just got the solenoids earlier today, popped them in and the dryer's working fine.
No problem! This is what I like to hear!
Thanks, dude, this was a big help! One thing people should know is that igniters are VERY delicate, so one needs to be very careful if replacing that part! Don't ask me how I know this...
DrewB68 No problem! Glad the video was helpful! I wont ask how you know that lol.
Thanks sir.
Great job on the tutorial. My dryer is not heating up so I'm going to follow these steps to diagnose the problem.
docdre1100 You are welcome! I am glad the videos were helpful! Let me know what you find!
So brilliantly simple the way you explain things.
Glad the video helped! Yes that is called an ignitor. Let me know if that does the trick!
Does it light?
thank you so much for the helpful video! I thought it would be too complicated for me to try, but after watching, I am going to give it a try!
You made what would have been a long difficult job easy! Thanks.
Great! Glad the video was helpful!
No prob! Glad the video helped!!!
Bad solenoids. Your video saved me needing to buy a new dryer. Thanks a lot, very clear directions. It's the exact same setup on my Maytag. You weren't kidding about those sharp edges either. I cut the sh&t out of my finger despite your warning!
pcosta816 Glad the video saved you from spending a ton on a new dryer! Hopefully your finger heals soon!
My Samsung is front loading so I took top off & ran dryer (disclaimer: don't attempt):
1.👂🏽click & waited 10sec; 2.👀ignitor glowed in reflection; 3.👂🏽gas ignited & sustained 8sec; 4.👂🏽click, gas flame off; 5.👂🏽unproductive clicks & buzzes +60sec; 6.1-5.
Thanks.
