Got 7 yards to pour myself when the weather warms a bit. Already formed and ready...thank you for all of the knowledge...it has and will help me tremendously.
I'll testify that Odell and his crew know their jobs! These videos aren't the usual "I'm an expert because I've made a lot of money off of this." type video. Those are made by the cheap-as-possible, run-with-the-money crowd of contractors. I can't stand to do a bad job, myself, and I like that attitude!
Make it level, smooth and finished as though nothing else may cover it, because after you're gone from the project that may be what every one sees for the next 20-30 years.....and because you know this, those finished features make you the 'true professional'. ....13
This is magic no way l can't believe this very very very impressive work Mr.Odell you have magic stick in your hand turning the ugly things to beauty no one like you
Like your work. Looks good. I hope to bet back to doing jobs myself this year and seeing your work reminds me of the quality I was known for before I broke my back. Your videos are inspiring me to get back to it, always love quality jobs. It's obvious to me that you understand when when the job is complete, that job has your name on it. Unfortunately, while I've been healing I've had to use many handicap ramps and while I never noticed how poor the quality of finish is on so many of them before my injury, I sure did when I had to use them! I would always think back to my jobs and remember how much nicer my ramps turned out. Your work reminds me how nice the jobs should always be even if it's getting tiled later. Your exactly right in that regard. Always bring the A game! Congratulations on your success.
@@OdellCompleteConcrete I've spent my life in construction, all trades. Two trades I enjoyed the most for various reasons were plumbing and concrete. Although I do enjoy running equipment, excavators, backhoes, and a skippy were always the most fun and a good operator can do great work! Anyway, with concrete you gotta keep the weight off and keep that L-4 and L-5 lumbar limber, very important to avoid injury.
+odell complete concrete what is the main differences pea gravels vs big rock? is there a strength difference between the two? What would make you choose one over the other for a specific job.
David, I love watching you and your crew work, thank you for putting out such informative examples of true craftsmanship! You answer so many of my questions before asking them, but being in construction as well Ive got to ask what is your favorite go-to boot?? Thanks!!
You guys know how to do it all. I wish I knew you were OC based before I had our backyard done. If I only needed a one block high (maybe 2) retaining wall, do I still need to fill it in with cement and stick rebar down the middle??
also its good to have rebar low because the top half of the slab takes the downward compression weight at the bottom half of the slabs that downward pressure turns into tensile weigh and that is what rebar is for tensile strength
Question: Almost all of your jobs seem to use a concrete pump, in my area of rural upstate New York the rental fee is around $1000 for a 3 hour rental of the pump and operator delivered, what are the prices like in your area? For the rental fee I can hire a bunch of labor for wheelbarrow material. How do you decide how to place concrete?
Question, o seen on TV that sometime they use a vibration rob to get out all the air pockets. Do you use those on your jobs, or are they meant only for big projects. Awesome work sir! 👌🏽👍🏽🤙🏽👍🏽
Thanks for the video.. looks great. I had a question, i have an existing patio that I would like to poor over. How thin of a top layer of concrete will be ok?
@@OdellCompleteConcrete Well that was quick, thank you very much! I'm actually planning to build a simple garden room on the same polished concrete floor; a 5.5m x 3.5m room in one corner of a 8m x 6m slab (with 2m square expansion joints running through it). Underneath the indoor part: aggregate, sand, membrane, PIR, membrane (slightly bigger than the building footprint). Hopefully, you don't invisage any problems with this?
About how much would it cost for a 26ftx 200ft maybe a little longer driveway run me. My existing drive is started to crack from the 2016 flooding and is chipping away from salt damage being from Louisiana It never snows and when it did my other half thought salt would be a good method for melting it. Other than that it is in a pretty good shape for being put down in the early 70s.
@@OdellCompleteConcrete seems like everytime we screed; the concrete sinks an eight of an inch and ways below existing concrete. Were doing like a 4 slump with inch rock
@Odell Complete Concrete they made on my house a fire pit and a retaining wall 73×3 and a concrete patio 600ft ,they charged me 11k ,do you think was to much ?
Let me ask you, I want to pour some concrete myself in my backyard, but how do I get it there? The concrete trucks just have a chute. I need to go about 60 feet down the side of the house? I have 2.27 cubic yards of concrete to pour.
Another great job Dave and team! It's quite the talent you have. What does something like this cost 5-10 k? I feel like I may be way off. Just for the work you have done. Not the finished product with tile.
Nate W that's quite a bit. Not sure what's involved in the 8x12. If it's just deck blocks or concrete tubes. Stairs landings.. All wood material? Composite decking would raise cost substantially. But back to the topic. This is concrete work. It's a specialty. But just wood construction should not be that much. Get a few quotes my friend.
Can anyone help, I've been digging my sloped garden down at the top by 2ft, and bang level at 2ft I've got to the gas pipe. I'm planning on building a concrete base for a shed but don't know how much clearance I have to leave for the pipe, any help would be appreciated.

i hear you loud & clear. its just i hate that wet feeling when the top cloth part gets wet, then your hands look like a freaking raisin. but shoot those chemicals cut like razors. but yeah im going to invest in some good gloves
Cant add much more than the others but will say Odell has the attitude that built America in the old days. He inspires me and thats big.
Thanks that means a lot.

Its really meant for low slump and tight areas.
Beautiful finish. Do you recycle the soil removed?
Yes it gets used in land fills or into a topsoil.
Thanks for the video.. looks great. I had a question, i have an existing patio that I would like to poor over. How thin of a top layer of concrete will be ok?
Jacob Martinez I wouldn’t do that. Tear it up and start over.

Dave I'm a big fan of yours! Question- why did you decide to go 18" and 20" centers for rebar?
Felt right
hey what kind of mix do you use on driveways? and do you use small rock or large rock?
pea gravel or 3/4" depends on access

When is a good time to pull that form for the step up?
As soon as the concrete will hold itself without collapsing. Timing varies.
