Ignore the cucumber, lol; it's a Vietnamese 🇻🇳 thing. We like to eat pickled vegetables and cucumbers 🥒 with savory dishes and rice - it helps to cut out the saltiness 🤗.
Thien Le I believe the classic adobo dish doesn't have pineapples, but its still good it adds sweetness to the chicken hehe we call chicken adobo with pineapples lol 😜
When cooking adobo here in the Philippines we don't have or use white onions instead we always use red ones and we saute the garlic first then the chop up red onions then put the meat (any kind, either beef, pork, or chicken) then you put the soy sauce and vinegar and to balance out the saltiness of the soy sauce we tend to put in sweetened pineapples or alternatively we put sugar into it and just balance out the sweetness of the sugar and saltiness of the soy sauce
Our Adobo has evolved into different versions since we are composed of many islands, it's produced in different variations in every region. I'm glad that you come up with one of our version. 👍
I love how you try to incorporate the various customs of the food's culture you're eating, for that full-on experience. You're the first person I've seen honor the authenticity in this way. Such the over-achiever ;)
I really want to try this chicken Adobo and Lumbia eggrolls I have been searching for different foods that I can eat more and keep on the menu for my family. Thanks for cooking Thien Le
of all the youtube mukbang channels and other eating or food related channels that have eaten filipino food, you're the only one ive seen eat rice the "filipino way", what i mean is a bit of food and a spoonful of rice AT THE SAME TIME, ive seen other youtubers eat filipino food and what they do is review or try the rice separately, i mean there's nothing wrong with that but for the rest of the video they usually eat the main dish and when they've swallowed the food only then will they eat the rice as if it was its own thing, i mean they dont even do the whole get some sauce and drizzle it over the rice thing(which is a really filipino way of eating rice hahaha) sometimes i just want to direct them to your channel so they would learn how to do it properly, im sorry if this kindda came out as a rant, but i just want others to enjoy the food the "proper way" as much as you do ☺ more power to your channel!
I'm Chinese and I grew up in China eating rice the "Filipino way" with everything. I stopped eating rice like that because it's concerning amount of rice intake that way. I feel like most people around me try to avoid rice as much as they can as well. Not saying it's good or bad, just kinda sad how when I was little I didn't give a care about that and now I just cannot eat much rice at all anymore because I feel extremely about carbs.. The satisfaction to eat meat with alot of rice tho, is IN SANE! lol
First of all, Love how you're giving us so much Filipino cuisine love! We appreciate it! Re: adobo - my mom adds ginger with everything especially with chicken recipes to take out the musky "chicken" scent. But yes, I add boiled egg and potatoes to mine with sweet onions and brown sugar. And to cut out the saltiness, we usually eat with fresh tomatoes or we have this pickled condiments called "atchara." (Made with pickled papaya and veggies) And for the lumpia (both for the vegetable and the thinner lumpiang shanghai) , I add minced shrimp to both but here's my secret recipe - I add sweet potatoes or yams, water chestnuts and or if you can't find chestnuts, jicama is a preferred choice to give it that extra crunch and freshness. We also add green beans or haricot verts the French way. Still watching you! Keep making those videos! We're drooling over your mukbangs!
3:23 Hi Thien, I would normally mix the pineapple juice with the marinade at the start, but chunks of the fruit at the last part (~2 min) so it would not get overcooked. 15:00 And we don't normally store excess lumpia mix because it will turn sour after a day or two because of the vegetables.
I love that you were so excited about cooking lumpia. That face was priceless. I cook the filling first before rolling. Frying is quicker and I never have to guess if the meat is cooked or not
it's great to not only see you eat food but you know how to cook them as well. awesome! each person has their own 'choice' with adobo. i prefer it with a thicker sauce that i slather all over the rice. i also love putting it in bread. you should try it!
there's no right o wrong way on how you will eat that delicious food........ yu just have to enjoy it and that's it...... those are my favorite ...lumpia and adobo.... love love love it
Thien, you Godfather of mukbangs!! You're spoiling me with all these cooking mukbangs!! The food looks amazing as you do!! Keep them coming!! Much love & respect!! ❤❤❤
Been following you for quite awhile now and loving you and your videos more and more... Keep it up... Thank you for loving Filipino food too.. You're the best!!!!
Thien, you should try adding potato and hard boiled egg to your adobo 😊😊😊 super tasty and the potato helps thicken out the sauce! I love letting it simmer and letting the sauce reduce then covering my rice with it 😍 And my boyfriend loves eating adobo with rice and banana - he said the sweet goes so well with the salty 😂
Yass thien, we always put potatoes in our adobo. We fry them first before adding it to the dish to have a little bit of that crisp texture on the edges. I loved the way you put pineapple juice in adobo, just the way I like it!😊
Thien, thank you for making my night! I have literally watched all of your uploads within 2 weeks. Had I been living under a rock??? I can say I've enjoyed your company from your very first video. The quality of your content today is top notch. Watching you feels like I'm participating in a celebration of food more than anything else, with an old school drunken best friend. I feel your energy and passion. I love the effort you put in to the set up and the layout of food. I enjoy the cooking, eating and seeing what drink will accompany your meal. You are meticulous, precise and oh so pleasent to watch. And I'm trying foods I would otherwise never of known about. What truly gets me is your personality and conversation. You are sassy and absolutely amazing, keep doing you.. Love, love, love!!
Congratulations Thien! another Filipino Cookbang/Mukbang! I make a mean lumpia myself and kudos to you for a job well done! You almost did a happy dance after eating the first lumpia.
I love it when the oil from my adobo comes out in the end process of cooking it. It is more savory that way. I don't want it soupy. Anyway, different variations of cooking and liking. I see you're enjoying it.
Thien Le It's pretty wide but you can nail it. Try Bistek Tagalog (Filipino Beef Steak) with calamansi juice. Looking forward 👍🏼 www.panlasangpinoymeatrecipes.com/bistek-recipe-filipino-beef-steak.htm
Oh my oh my~~~~ you made me cook adobong manok. And I like your friend's version and yours for the lumpia. You eat so yummy, and I am tempted to eat a lot again. Thanks for the video tutorial, and keep doing it. I am beginning to like your channel here. Good luck.
Thien, I really, really enjoyed this. Thank you so much for all of your hard work. I know it was time consuming preparing all of the ingredients and then moving everything and making sure it's perfectly camera visible, etc. It is appreciated. I'm new here, have only seen two videos, but will be watching more. These recipes look so very good and simple, easy to make. Again, thanks for taking the time to actually write out the recipe in the description box, I NEVER SEE THAT! I have added this to my recipe file and plan to try cooking it!
We have different kinds of filipino lumpia. The skinny ones you were talking about is lumpiang shanghai it consists of ground pork, onions, green onions, egg, shredded carrots, salt, pepper, soy sauce, but also i like putting hoisin, sesame oil and oyster sauce on mine. The one you're trying to make is veggie/meat lumpia. And this one is usually sautéed first before wrapping and it's usually as big as regular eggrolls. You can use any kind of ground meat. You sauté garlic and onions first. Then the meat and put you seasoning like salt, pepper, soy sauce, then mix until the meat is brown. Then add your shredded carrots, bean sprouts, julienned green beans you can add cabbage or even julienned sweet potato. Then let it drain and cooled very well before wrapping. I love to cook a lot and experiment with food. But this is like my family's recipe. But you did really well!
Hi Thien! I love your mukbang shows =) about your lumpia, if you're making a pork lumpia (locally known as lumpiang shanghai) u basically just need ground pork, minced onion, grated carrots, either parsley or spring onion and salt & pepper thats it. We don't put vegetables at all on our pork lumpia, especially if you try them here in the Philippines. If u want to make vegetable lumpia then that's a different story, its free for all =)
i've been away from the internet coz i got busy with work and i got excited to see a notif from you! i love your new set up! and i love how you prepared the adobo the thien way. i'll try to do it the way you did next time :)
Same here, I cook adobo when I feel lazy! The good thing about adobo is that you can make it in so many different ways. I like mine to add pineapple, ginger and sometimes sugar.
Making Lumpia is totally a fun family activity. Love your videos! My Mom's secret ingredient in Lumpia is julienne sweet potato! It's so good, balanced with the salty/savory ground pork and other veggies. We actually saute the ingredients before we wrap it. For Lumpiang Shanghai (the skinny ones) we do it raw, like the kind that you made. :) I love how you knew to not cover it in the beginning for the adobo, due to the vinegar. Look super sarap!
You look super adorable eating adobo the filipino way. Thank you for doing another filipino food inspired mukbang. I was smiling all throughout the video. You make me crave for food I eat all the time. 😘
one tip when you make lumpia or any food that needs to be wrapped, fry the filling first. Just a little bit, just to make sure it's seasoned well. love your videos!
Set it and forget it is totally the 90s showtime oven 😂😂 I so appreciate the care in trying to avoid the metal against teeth thing because I'm one of those people who cringe so hard when I hear it, even when my friends eat. Also omg that CRUNCH on the lumpias!!! Good job!
yay!!! first here. I'm so surprised u ate off the table lol your always so neat and use plates. now I don't fell so bad eating with my hands sometimes. your a cool guy every down to earth. never change
Hi! 😊 You can also mix some corn starch with water and boil some water separately. when the water just starts to boil add the starch mixture and stir quickly. Bring off the heat and you can use that instead of egg wash to seal the lumpia. It really looks like runny glue. Hope this helps. 😊
You handled that Fork and Spoon like a true Filipino! haha and the Cucumber is something we do also. My mom and I like to slice Cucumbers up and soak them in Vinegar, salt and pepper and have them as a condiment along side dishes like Adobo. and i'm LIVING for the crush of that Lumpia. Great Episode! thanks for loving Filipino Food!
you can use water instead of raw egg....and if you're concerned about the meat being raw you can cook it before putting it in the wrap....loooove watching your cookbangs! thanks for making the videos!
Thien First off I have to say how much I like your background. Everything looks so pretty. The chicken and rolls look really tasty. Great job! Now I want food!!!
Oh man I want adobo so badly now. The way you eat!!!! Yaaasssss. Our fresh dish on the side with this is chopped red onions, tomatoes, boiled okra chopped into one inch pieces, and minced ginger seasoned with salt and pepper, vinegar, sugar, splash of soy sauce ☺️
Yay! Good on you for cooking this dish and making it your own! I love eating this dish with a side dish of chopped fresh ripe tomatoes sprinkled with fish sauce! Try it 😊
Ignore the cucumber, lol; it's a Vietnamese 🇻🇳 thing.
Thien Le Oh! you can also try chicken adobo sa gata (gata means coconut milk) its also delicious 😊
Rainy Diva, his version is like "HUMBA" a visayan adobo, it is sweet also, only we use pork.So his recipe is still legit.

I'm always looking to improve the recipe. For the most part, I see that people are suggesting potatoes and onions. I never thought about adding these.
have you tried subbing coke instead of vinegar in adobo?
Yes, potatoes! I lllllllluuuuuvvv potatoes!!! (wish I could taste what you're cooking).
Wow, Its so nice that you're cooking your own food..Love the overall idea!!

Filipino food again yay! You're really the best! God bless you Thien my fave mukbanger! Lots of love from the Philippines! ❤️❤️❤️
I live to see Thien's smile whenever he eats something good. Hahahaha.
