      Thanks Mon! Searching rock pools on a low tide is one of our favourite things just for that reason, so much to see 😁 the fish is called a Black Jawfish (Opistognathus inornatus) but yes our first time ever seeing one and absolutely terrifying. Very glad they don't grow any bigger 😅 thanks for watching and we hope you guys are well 🙂

      Thanks! It is a species of Jawfish. We believe it is called a Black Jawfish, to be specific, but it was our first time encountering one, so we had to look into it, first mistaking it for a more common Stargazer fish 🌟

    You don't need to flour it in the open area. flour is used to prevent the oil from splashing and it gets a little crispy. but without flour, it tastes better with a little garlic and pepper.

    • @BurrupAndAway
      @BurrupAndAway  4 месяца назад

      I've pondered this idea mate, good thinking. Could use a ladder/pipe rack type system in two of the seat post locations. Ideal definitely consider it if I upgrade to a bigger kayak, though it may be a bit of a nuisance for fishing and wind drag, plus a higher centre of gravity, but I do like the idea 🙂

    • @richardallen-e7e
      @richardallen-e7e 4 месяца назад

      Thanks for the reply. I was thinking more of something light and tip-able. So you could position it to either side or even out to the side of the boat while fishing. I think carrying a kayak is an absolute stroke of genius as a safety tool.
      I am not an engineer though. Just thinking a tilt rack similar to a dinghy rack on a camper. I don’t have any idea what weight to hight ratio makes a boat unstable but I would think there would be a few 100kg when the outboard it’s self is 200 to 400. I did see a tinny blow over by a whirl wind at Shady Camp a long time ago. It had a full shade canopy over it though and it was a very small tinny.
      As a safety feature the right kind of framing giving the ability to provide shade, rain protection for sleeping out. As well as some overhead lighting, storage possibilities ect could become a valuable after market upgrade. Food for thought is all. Keep doing what you do.

    • @BurrupAndAway
      @BurrupAndAway  4 месяца назад

      @user-ch7ux2wt7i Thanks mate, all great food for thought. I was even thinking of using J hook type kayak racks that you'd have in a shed and mounting them into rod holders on the gunwale so that the kayak can hang outside of the boat. I'd just want to set that up well so as to not damage or scratch the boat too much. We deliberately don't have any shades or biminis on the boat purely from a fishing 360 degrees perspective but it's all pros and cons and for now are are happy. Plus, the boat fits under the carport at home and out of the weather in storage 🙂 cheers!

    Mate, little tip. Instead of lugging that bulky kayak with you, get yourself a 2nd anchor and set up a front and back anchor. Not only will that hold the boat in position through strong tides and weather, but it's also common practice among boaties camping on islands.

    • @BurrupAndAway
      @BurrupAndAway  4 месяца назад +5

      I'm neutral on double anchoring on the stern mate. I agree it's a great method if you're in a sheltered bay and don't want your boat to swing around into rocks or worry about timing the tides. The idea behind the kayak is so that the boat can always be anchored with water below it, and if we wake up in the morning and want to leave on high tide, we don't have to swim out 50-100m to reach the boat and take off, or wait for the tides to allow us to float it if it's in too close. We got caught in a major squall last year in the middle of the night, and in a bay exactly like in this video, it was breaking 2ft waves on the shore and I had to rescue a strangers 20ft hard top boat that went adrift 1km from shore and wasn't stopping, but my boat was also sitting in 10m+ of water, 50 metres out, in sharky waters and after that I swore I'll never not have a means of being able to paddle to, from, or after a boat if I should ever need it, unless inside an archipelago where the boat can't disappear like the Montebellos. I also would've felt less confident being double anchored that night as the bow wouldn't have been able to turn into the seas and would've been wearing it side on. I could possibly substitute the kayak with setting up a pulley system from the shore but for the 20kg it weighs and where it fits in the boat, I think it's worth every bit of the trouble carrying it 🙂 cheers.

    • @BurrupAndAway
      @BurrupAndAway  19 дней назад

      Hey mate we're still very happy with the 57" Force. It only pops out of the water occasionally in rougher seas, and generally only moving against the current. The waters we fish rarely lift the bow and so we've never had any issues. Still going strong after 18 months with nothing more than a fresh water rinse after each outing. We like the single action pull and drop, no adjusting shaft lengths or anything of the like. It's a great all round shaft length for our boat. Cheers.
