+Darren Chee Thank you. These were originally meant to be a more stylish gate for my yard, but then I decided I didn't like it there anymore. Change of job and change of pace, these turned out very plain and prison like to me... Thanks for the support.
I call it racking the table when you use your workpiece to push all the shit on the table to one edge. I do it because I'm too lazy to move everything in advance. I'm glad to see someone else does the same thing. Racking the table that is, as in billiards.
Great video. What do you all use to prevent a steel gate from rusting? I was thinking of powder coating mine after I weld it up. Any better suggestions?
Powder coat is always a great option. In the end, I would say it depends on service life and ambient conditions. If near sea water and salt spray, you better believe a lot better coating system is needed, like hot dip to start. If in a dry enough arid climate, simple primer and paint.
+David Finch (dfmmc2014) Then I realize that I only show the 1x1 tubing on the trailer, though one gate is almost complete, just needs mounting hardware and paint, it wont show the 1x1 tubing spindles until I get Part 2 edited.
+Greg Nowling Remembering a little more, I did this knowing that my coped pieces would force the height of the gate to be the same on both sides. these are 54" on the inside as long as I get the top and bottom tight to it. with a miter it isn't hard to be of square a little bit because of fit up. Just my opinion though.
looks good keep up the good work. I been fabricating for 7 years fencing and structural.

A sawzall or cold cut saw would have made coping those ends a lot easier and done it in a 1/4 of the time. Work smarter.
Great video if you enjoy watching people cut grind and weld

Hot dip galvanized then power coat...

What's the cost on a piece of steel tubing? My local steel supply is $49 for 21'piece of 2x2 1/8" wall.
+jj1479 I haven't checked that price in a while, I've had the 2x2x16ga sitting here for a while. The 1x1x16ga was around $12 for 20'.

In Australia it costs Aus$36 for 6.5meters (21').
you must be kidding
What size tubing did you use for the frame.
That is 2" x 16 ga. Sorry for the really late reply.
@@DavidFinchMMC Thankyou
Im welder
Why not miter the corners ?
+Greg Nowling No reason, simply felt like coping them instead. could have went either way and produced similar results.

Why not cut the corners at a 45°??
Eddie Romero simply fealt like doing it this way. No right or wrong really.
@@DavidFinchMMC you are correct people do it because it saves time. But it would look nicer. Good job👌
