What I'm getting from this review is that this synth is so good, Jack's usual exuberance was pushed so far he looped back around to a calm & measured demeanour. Truly impressive.
I absolutely adore this synth, being a single dad forces me to save up for very long periods of time for these types of instruments. I hope I can finish the saving journey within 12 months. You did a great job demo'ing it loved some of the chords and drones you played nice and moody..
Whoa, wasn't convinced, then suddenly midway through just such an unreal, gorgeous soundscape emerged. Absolutely perfect. Time to finally get into synths....?!
Stop looking now and just get a Super 6. Had mine since July 2020 and haven't felt the need to buy another poly synth since getting it. I have other polys but none of my other synths stopped me from wanting more until the Super 6

Fantastic, Jack. Really beautiful sounds here, especially those slow movements of the filter cutoff. I look forward to you exploring the PolyBrute in the same way! And while I don't think it's as nice overall as the Super 6, I think you might appreciate exploring the polyphonic aftertouch and multiple filter types of the HydraSynth. Thanks for this!
In our wee studio we are fortunate to have a few synths including a Super 6 and a Summit. We turn to the Summit as we know what we are going to get, it is a real workhorse, well organised, predictable, great sounding and gets you there, wherever there may be, quickly. The Super 6 is more unpredictable, which is so inspiring and you are never quite sure what is going to pop out, but it usually sounds great. We have a couple of mono Moogs, a Matriach and a Sirin, the Sirin sounds lovely - it does a few sounds, but does them sooo well. The Matriarch is fun, though the hidden parameters are really annoying, so it probably gets used less than the others. Our keyboard player loves the Super 6 - I'm less capable with the fingers and turn more towards the Summit - both are really enjoyable.
Just got an email from George as part of the UDO mailing list. Your a hit Jack 🙂 He’s so awesome. This synth has all the hallmarks our being our generations Prophet or Oberheim
Incredible synth and excellent demo, kept me engaged all throughout. You are one talented person, Jack, Andertons is lucky to have you on their team. I look forward to seeing which poly you decide to go with.
For myself, I ended up choosing the PolyBrute, but I have to agree there is something extremely special about the Super6 and the way the sounds drift organically around the stereo spectrum. There is a video called Super6: Ambient Pads that I keep coming back to because I’ve never heard anything like it.
@@halodust1304 I thought so too originally, but I have since seen some demos that put the Polybrute in a different light -- GEOsynths has a good video showing some gorgeous thick gritty stereo patches.
Thanks for that recommendation on the Polybrute, gonna have to get deeper with it for sure! That Ambient Pads video is just unreal too!! Appreciate the tip off X
The level of control for live performances on the Polybrute, with the Morphee-pad, touch-strip and 5 octave AT keyboard, makes it hard to beat in that area. Then again, the Super 6 seams so easy to get great sounds from, which is important ”for the fun of it”. Wouldn’t mind 5 octaves though. For me though, the Phantom or the Montage would be a wiser choise, as I only make music at home, in a more ”real instruments” kind of way. Then there is the Nord Wave 2 too, as a Jack of all trades, or the Prophets for the nostalgia...Nah, actually the best investment is the time to improve my playing skills, as always :)
For me, the interface is just as important as the sound. I find tactile interfaces, like Nord and Arturia and Sequential tend to have (and the Super6 too), more fun and inspiring to play compared to touchscreen driven synths like the Montage/Kronos. It feels more like playing a real instrument, with the sound design being part of the performance rather than something to be programmed in advance. But you do lose some versatility.
Thanks so much Jack for following up with this video, I can tell you love it. I can also tell you I love it and you have sold me, this needs to join my Summit at least, possibly replace it. Super keen to see you revisit the Summit also, its a very different beast. Perhaps throw the Oberheim OB6 back in the mix for a revisit for some SEM action?
The Super 6 is amazing to me. Idk which firmware you're on, but the v0.26 has a "drift" feature. It's easy to fall into "sweet zones" where every tweak sounds like a new preset. One day, I spent 8+ hours programming sounds on mine without touching many of the extensive features. This thing is immersive, has a ton of depth, and character of its own.
I LOVE that fact that we're getting these bonkers, super passion project flagship synths, with so many actual new ideas from them, that are not coming from any of the big named companies. These are all auteur, small-team projects, that are just leaning into what it means to innovate and love synthesis design. Hydrasynth, Super 6, and now PolyBrute. Amazing time to either get into synthesis or for old-timers, to rediscover that love again when quality and uniqueness were what was regularly on offer. I want synths to find their heyday again and all strive to be different, high-quality machines that have character and soul and whatever other adjectives that help define the output of a synth to just give it that 'yeah' aspect. Make me spend more money. I do wish, if I had but one, that both the Hydrasynth and the Super 6 were at least 61-keys. 49 is too few. Especially when the design begs you to double-fist some huge chords across a wide range.
I had the Modal 008 for a magical few months, perhaps the best months of my synth life. George Hearns is a very special dude, and his work here on the Super6 is excellent.
I just realised I’ve shot myself in the foot here and can’t escape forking out for one these now!! 🤣 Thanks for the push in the right direction Crypt and for watching bud X
I’m also a lucky Moog Matriarch owner. I doubt you can get the range of sounds you can from and UDO, but it’s sounds Amazing. I just sit there and play it and enjoy the sound. Pretty much every day. For the last year... :-)
Cheers Connor. I completely balls the first video, had know idea about any of the features and really didn’t do it justice. Hope I got even a fraction of how bad ass this synth is across this time. X

Minilogue XD is a cracking shout! Loved the time I’ve played one and those FX are worth the price of admission alone - glad to hear your digging it and thanks for watching mate X
This was my second choice in a poly synth. I instead went with Moog One , mostly because I really wanted the option to split the heyboard and I've always been a huge Moog fan. Moog One was initially disappointing and almost all the presets underwhelm me but once you start digging into it, it is such a magical synth with endless options and it is capable of amazing sounds once you scratch the surface and realize it isn't like anything else. It's certainly a synth that you will always be discovering something new with. I've heard good things from people that own the super 6 as well! I know people that own both and think they are the two best modern poly's
Jupiter 8 meets CS80 meets Ob8 (and I have all three of them - not to brag, just saying that this machine really gets you there). Great demo. You're sold Jack. Happy Birthday :-)
@@jackduxbury1632 Excellent! I have saved like mad to have the pennies to get one, but...Yet to do the deed. Will you push me over the edge? Time will tell. SOOOO many great poly synths right now! Novation Summit is hi up on my list. Great sounding with tones of modulation that is very intuitive. Plus you can do binaural stuff with it too! (layer A left out to mixer, Layer B right out to mixer and tweak away!)
Great Video! Really looking forward to this “journey” series. I’m also wanting a poly synth but living on a little Island I have no way of testing or being hands on with keyboards like this, (unless I pay £££ to fly to mainland) so I completely rely on YT vids, reviews and guides to make decisions. I love your approach to this review, you know what to highlight to show what makes it “different” or “unique” which is exactly what I look for, not just comparing oscillators and filters to different synths. I’ve been really interested in the Summit, PolyBrute and Prologue 16 so would be great to see these. Cheers.
I’d definitely consider the PolyBrute, Prophet 6/5/OB6 (pick whatever flavour of Sequential), Super 6, Summit... really anything that is in that bracket is going to be fantastic, and then it’s about finding what suits how you like to craft sounds and what flavour of synthesizer you like!
Best synthesizer made in 20 years… fat, warm creamy just what I’ve been looking for.. This keyboard was produced by somebody who really knows what a synthesizer should Abel, 2 do ( love it )worth every penny well done incredible sound 👏🏾…
I went on the same journey over the last two years and have ended up with a Super 6 and a Juno 106. You should check out a Polybrute, prophet 10, OB6, prophet 6, summit, system 8, hydra synth, and tell us where you end up. Only con IMO re the super 6 is it’s not 61 keys. People say they miss a screen, but I’ve never missed it. It’s a joy to create sounds on, intuitive and explorative/creative like a Juno or prophet.
Birthday! Super 6, Summit, PolyBrute, & Matriarch. I'm REALLY interested in your final choice. Yeah, depends on what you want to do, but those synths are on my short list--which changes daily. Super 6 (consistently #1), PolyBrute (flexibility & modulation versatility), Summit (fantastic choice & always on the radar) Matriarch (check out Lisa Bela Donna...nuff said). Wait!....this is if you dont already own the OB6 (my baby) Latest OS adds the Vintage knob AND MPE (ohhhh yeah). Excellent Super6 review Jack :)
Thanks to you for watching Kevin! Filmed one with the Deepmind the other day that should be out soon, unreal bang for buck - so advanced and sound killer too. My wallet is definitely hoping the Deepmind wins!!! 🤣
@@jackduxbury1632 the built in FX with 12 voices, makes it that synths’s special super power. Love watching people play with the Polybrute as well. It’s a great time to be involved in synths! You cannot make a wrong decision with the top crop you are looking at.
@@jackduxbury1632 Oh man, please do that! Let David have a Zoia or Hologram Microcosm to balance lack of stereo and on-board effects. TayTay is the judge.
If you don't mind the weight - the Deepmind is a cool synth. Oooh - and would love me an OB 6... And - props to you Jack and all the Cancers out there ;-) I'm a July-Child as well :-)
Actually, my Argon8 can already do a lot, sounds great and the app integration is flawless, but as I've seen how much simpler and straightforward the Nord Wave 2 is to use, I'm really saving towards that one now. I already own a Nord Drum and it's a pure joy to use, figuring everything out took maybe 2 hours and then you're got to go and create your unique own sounds, independent from Presets, it's so much fun. So I'd like to have that in a big polysynth as well and I think the Nord Wave 2 is far superior even to the Novation Peak (which already is quite intuitive and user friendly).
I'm 1 week into owning a Super 6, and I can't believe how much fun I've had playing a brass pad. I hate sampled brass, but this just sounds so fat, juicy and satisfying! I've worked my way through most of the manual and all the presets and learned how it all works. My 2 complaints would be that I do miss having a mod wheel, but one could argue that this thing is "nothing but mod wheels". And while no display is admirable, tracking down modulation connections is impossible. I may have to buy the editor software just for that. Making the connections is very easy, but reverse engineering an existing patch is tough. So far, I love it.
does not having any kind of display put a damper on things? for some this would be the deal breaker. however for many, they've seem to work around it. would seem like a major burden if you were using it under a live situation when switching from patch to patch.
Jack! This is a beauty of a Synth! But i can say that i love my blue JP8000 hell alot and he sounds as awesome as for shure the great UDO Super6 can sound. Thx for your great Synth Demos Bro 🙏🏻🕊🙋🏻♂️✌🏻🌿🌈
Great Video Jack and really informative demo of the UDO Super 6. Im in the market for my first Polysynth and am looking between the Super 6 and the Polybrute. Keep going between the two I know they are quite different so would love you to compare the two. Thanks
Superstars like uber-infectious Jack here don't just deserve the cream of the crop, but should be given them for the success rate he has selling gear. But if you're needing something far cheaper, go ahead and look into the belly of the beast and consider a Deepmind12. I know it's maybe sacrilege to say, but I've never experienced an easier learning-curve and muscle memory for the volume of adjustable parameters and features that the DM12 has. The only real complaint so far is the crappy slider caps. No problem, I just put dots of hot-glue on the tops of the slider posts and I'm half way to CS-80 heaven!
The PolyBrute's matrix arp and morphing, big wood ribbon, easier to keep track of mod routings. When the S6 is in 12 voice mode, you get forced alternate voice panning, which is a weird choice. But with the Super binaural stuff, the S6 sounds like angels singing, which might be the deciding factor.
Yea but I hated the vanila sound of the polybrute, to much tweaking not enough playing, for me that is., this thing sounds organic, static and huge. But no screen is a irritant.
this, waldorf synths, the d-50, the hydrasynth, and the microkorg are probably the best-sounding digital synths. (the microkorg is not nearly as professional and only has 4 oscillators but its "lofi" grittiness sounds good imo)
@@jackduxbury1632 also, and I might be completely wrong, I suspect the filters in the PX are exactly the same ones from SSM or whoever. Looking forward to your journey of discovery 😎
I had this issue a year ago, I ended up with the Prophet 6 based on what was around @ the time. I had intentions on a Matrixbrute too so I would not have the Polybrute if it were present. I also considered the Korg Prologue, Roland System 8 & Access Virus. I wanted analogue so P6 it was. Good luck Jack, there's so much choice now if you include Virtual Analog & Wavetable versions too! :) Great sounding U.D.O too, but it's not my taste. Not enough Jupiter 4 in it :)
Prophet 6 is a great shout - such a good balance of sound and features. Will put it on the list for sure. Just hoping my process helps people make the choice for themselves. Amazing the choice now for Poly’s, thanks the comment Sonik Xx

If you don't mind the weight - the Deepmind is a cool synth. Oooh - and would love me an OB 6... And - props to you Jack and all the Cancers out there ;-) I'm a July-Child as well :-)
I love my Super 6. George nailed it.
I too am on the journey!!!
This is the craziest keyboard I've ever seen. I'll consider buying this.
The chops!
Bro, I enjoyed this video so much! Just BOUGHT ONE!!!
It sounds really amazing.
Great video, amazing unique Synth !
Lovely synth! Great review.
Ive had this synth for 9 months or so now, my absolute favorite!!!
Happy for you Andrew - it’s a special bit of kit that’s for sure!! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment mate X

That's class. Get one!
Cheers Chris - I may well just do that!! 🤣
I pray I can get this synth at some point.
Heaven helps those who help themselves.
I can't wait to get mine! I just sold my minimoog voyager for one of these. I'll make due with my slimphatty for those moog sounds. Haha
Lovin' this one Jack!
Thanks so much James - appreciate the kind words Brother X
@@jackduxbury1632 No worries dude!! Lots of great stuff comin' 😜 x
You share your b'day with my Mrs.
Get yourself a black Corp Deckard's dream.
Great Video Jack and really informative demo of the UDO Super 6. Im in the market for my first Polysynth and am looking between the Super 6 and the Polybrute. Keep going between the two I know they are quite different so would love you to compare the two. Thanks
buy the super 6 jack, let me live vicariously through you
🤣 Ok Basem!! Thanks for making me chuckle mate X
@@jackduxbury1632 well I've layby'd one now haha!

Detuning is always a great way to make ear tickles!
Yas Queen! Good plan.
🤣 Cheers Hunter my G x
Super 6 vs Korg Prologue 16 vs Prophet vs Summit!!!
👍
OB6 definitely and possibly the poly brute.
Prophet 6, OB-6, Rev2!
The Hydra is a great synthesizers if 49 key is good for you. I have at least 40 synths and 60 sound modules but this hydrasynth completely stands out.
It's a no brainer, just get the Arturia Polybrute. I mean at this point you can only consider another synth once you have a Polybrute.
Defo gonna get spend a day with one Good Boid - thanks for the recommendation Brother X
Some of the things you like here I think are in the Prophet X... stereo filters, etc..
Oooooooh, nice shout, had stupidly forgot about that one. Love manipulating samples, cheers Andy X
@@jackduxbury1632 also, and I might be completely wrong, I suspect the filters in the PX are exactly the same ones from SSM or whoever. Looking forward to your journey of discovery 😎
Ooooh, nice shout!! X
In Jack's accent, I can imagine this joke working. Ready. Why did the Avon Lady smile? Because Max Factor!
Jack, did you buy one? I’ve been waiting 4 months to vicariously shop through you (Australia’s C_vid incompetence means we are 3 months into a lockdown)
Please fuel my GAS from home, I thought this was a mad idea for a series, super relatable and we get to head mad flagship synths put to the test!
Hopefully the new innovations from UDO announced at superbooth soon will spark your interest!
37:16 a true synthesist - just moving knobs and sliders at random ;)
God damn it that edit at 17:41 got me 😂
