    Really good tip about the BTUs. I didn't pay attention to that when I first purchased my portable (Q2000) and thus use a lot more than necessary for my cook sizes.

    • @RandisAdventures

      Chicago Griller Hey Chicago Griller! I always thought higher BTUs meant more heat... now we both know! 😊

    • @kencoley1likes
      @kencoley1likes Год назад

      Her BTU statement is incorrect. She contradicts herself in the two statements back-to-back. The more BTU's a grill is capable of producing is a hotter grill. More BTUS are needed for a larger grill surface area. The dial on the front of the grill adjusts the BTU's output. The grill is rated for a maximum BTU rating. That Napoleon being shown is rated for a maximum of 11,000 BTU's with burner fully on. Turn the burner down and less BTU output is generated. That is basic physics.

    Nicely done video! In a small class B van you have sold me on cooking in the van, using a campfire or the microwave. I can't see a place to transport the grill and dealing with a greasy grill in a small van is a non starter.

      Hi Andre! My O’ Grill has done a pretty good job at cooking food evenly. On occasion I will rotate the food as I am cooking it.
      I think portable dual zone grills are going to be larger which maybe a good idea if you have adequate storage space. But I got to say… I have used my O’ Grill for 3 years and I love it!

    More BTUs should actually lead to a hotter grill at the end of the day most of the time if it was an otherwise identical grill. However, BTUs are the last thing I look at when grill shopping, because most manufacturers equip an appropriate burner based on the grill's size and airflow. I have rarely used a grill that I felt wasn't hot enough to at least be passable, but in some cases I have used grills that were too hot as they were near impossible to maintain a temperature below 500+ degrees.

    • @kencoley1likes
      @kencoley1likes Год назад

      BTU are a measure thermal heat. She even says that, then contradicts herself in the next sentence. Not sure why she thinks more BTU's is not hotter. Please tell everyone how and where she heard more BTU's is not hotter???

    • @shred5
      @shred5 Год назад

      @@kencoley1likes I think the larger point she was trying to make here is higher BTUs does not always mean better. It should be hotter in the same grill legitimately.
      It is a common misconception that higher BTUs is better. You only need X BTUs to heat a grill that is Y cubic inches. Adding to that will generally waste propane more than improve the grill.
      Something else is a better designed grill will maximize the cooking space while getting the most out of a lower powered burner. For example, last year I went from a 10,000 BTW portable grill that was poorly designed to a smaller 6,500 BTW one that was well designed. The 10,000 one was larger, but due to the design they had the same amount of cooking space. But can you guess which grill heats faster, hotter and uses less propane to boot?

    Get the higher BTU grills if want to sear and cook properly. Low BTU won't char which you will regret if you like rare steaks, cook in cold conditions. Low BTU will cook slow, grey, bland, done steaks and burgers. Chicken you want to cook slow but finish hot. TIP: rub cooking oil on grates just before adding food for great sear marks, flavor and non-stick grilling. 🍔
