  • Co mingle trash collection. Heavy recycle route resulted in packing out pretty quickly. You can see that the truck struggled with packing large boxes (please break down your boxes... This was ridiculous)
    Town of Shirley, MA
    Truck : 2020 Mack Lr6 Labrie Automizer 60/40 Split Body 37yd
Camera : GoPro Hero 8 Black
    **Note**
This being a Side Loading split body truck, there is often some material that spills into the other compartment. This is known both in the industry and in the manufacturers circles. At this point in time.. nothing will be done about it so please don't flood the comments with "OMG THERE'S RECYCLE GOING IN THE TRASH" at the end of the day, it's less than a 96 gallon cart which makes it less than 1% of the entire load.
There is no system that is 100% perfect, even those trucks that are single body, have some degree of contamination due to the fact that people in the US are terrible at recycling.
This video is for entertainment only and should only be used for amusement and your enjoyment.

They could have removed that thing on the top on the recycle side and used a crusher panel there

that's a very nice truck good work to

The amount of contamination in peoples recycle carts is 1000 times greater than the small amounts of material that sometimes spill into the opposite compartment.

@@ABCd-ec1uw contamination is trash in recycling. it's less frowned upon when recycling goes into trash. but We can get in trouble if it's too much. But the other commenter is right... it's way worse because people just don't recycling properly at all.

It looks like the top part to make it solid when you move the divider panel. Is a choking point

Agreed. There are a few questionable design points on this truck.

Awesome video as usual. Do have a couple of questions to ask. First one is how do you determine what side the garbage and recycling go on? Second one is there anyway we could see a video of the dumping process? Thank you so much in advance.

      Thank you.
I have a camera in the cab that shows me what side the divider panel is on and I can swap it via the joystick.
My channel has a couple of older (and crappier) videos of dumping. I'm not a fan of their quality but they are there for those who want to see them. I do plan to do some more but i'm having camera issues so those w ill come eventually.

    11:14 - 11:28: Haha yep.............
    12:27: I guess not.....
That's actually a very smart strategy using the larger side for the recycle, since it doesn't pack the same as the trash does. Whereas most other haulers would do it the other way around with reasoning of "Oh but there's more trash than there is recycle". Great video!! keep them coming pls

Thanks. Once upon a time ago, this route had the heaviest recycling tonnage out of all the co-collect routes. Not sure if it's the same after all the company aquisitions. But obviously, it works for the most part.

The homeowners in that neighborhood probably face a fine for mixing recyclables with trash, but one truck driver with an itchy flapper finger makes it all pointless.

Something i dont.. really understand, why dont you have more of the rear-loaders like in Europe.. they even can have upto 4 chambers for sorting... glass, paper/cardboard, food and mixtrash.. having like 3 guys on each truck should be working fast enough..

    • @NashobaTrashTrucks
      @NashobaTrashTrucks  2 года назад +1

Most of the smaller companies do have rear loaders. But they're not really efficient in most city set ups.
Most of our customer base is automated and RLs aren't good for those. They fill up too fast.

@@NashobaTrashTrucks could get like larger bins, how many liters do you have in those? 60L? Since our bins were between 240L and upto 660-1000L bins, and for the schools, we had dumsters, between 4,5kubicmeter and uto 10kubicmetef. Most of them has gone over too undergroundbins, such as "molok". This has become more normal of the larger areas. In Finland and in Nederland, you have the underground tubes leading into one point container underground, with a compacter. So you wont need to drive the trucks for every bin for each house.. so in that sence... has the u.s something too learn from europe... in my mind, yes they have.
